    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I wasn't going to post any clutch pictures until they shed. First clutch was multiple males to a normal female and we got 1.3 fires and 2.2 normals. This clutch was a fire to a spider owned by Jessica Collins and we landed 2, possibly 3, fire spiders, 1 spider and 3 fires. NO NORMALS! So here's a sneak peak of the babies until they come out. Then I'll update with post shed pictures. Enjoy!

congrats on the clutch but you are cutting WAY too early and too big of a cut. If there are that many veins you need to give them maybe another week. The best thing when they are getting close it to candle them to make sure they have very few veins. Find the spot your going to cut away from veins, gentally pinch the egg and roll to drop any veins off the sheel, make a small hole then look under for veins to cut a small hole.

First off they are on day 50 when these were cut. Second, I just cut a clutch on day 50 a few weeks ago and everyone's fine. These aren't holes, they are flaps. They fold back down and everyone's covered up. People cut at day 50 all the time. Thanks for the congrats! We are excited.

you dont have to get defensive. I see you are an expert so then I am sure you need no advice from anyone. I have over 200 snakes and still take advice from people when they have a better/smarter way of doing things.

I'm not. Just stating facts. Another week like you said would be day 57. I've seen babies drown and I'm not taking that risk. You said too big of holes and we made flaps so they can be covered up until they come out. I gladly take advice. But not when it goes against what I believe. Which is cutting before day 55

Congrats on the babies. The head marking on the Fire Spider is pretty sweet. As for cutting, I'll throw in my $.02. I personally would not cut that early, though I realize many do so that's just my preference. I'm not saying don't do it. I do think those flaps are pretty big, though, and I'm not sure I understand the need for such big flaps. I can see/understand cutting a small slit to keep babies from drowning, but I think cutting big flaps like that (especially before day 55) is an unnecessary risk. I'm sure you can get away with it, at least for a while, but why do it? Why not just a small opening?

I see breeders cut this size too. I figured a flap is good because I can close it back up and its as if I didn't cut. I don't believe I cut too big but I can cut smaller. I appreciate your two cents. It's helpful insight :)

I am just pretty paranoid that I will lose a baby from cutting too much/too soon. I don't cut all my clutches (I'm not knocking it, I just don't do it), so when I do I'm pretty conservative I think. I prefer to let them pip on their own. If I feel the need to cut a clutch I do just enough to give them an escape. The only time I've cut a bigger flap like that is if they are already sticking their heads out and I'm either really curious about their appearance or worried about twisted umbilical cord or something.

That last post was probably the best articulated of all of them, and one I completely agree with. I don't cut often either, and when i do it's a much more conservative cut.

But this thread isn't about cutting, it's about a pretty awesome clutch, Congrats.

Thanks guys! I'll take it all into consideration. Next clutch is due to lay Sept. 4th. I'll cut those smaller and see what happens!

Nice clutch you have there, congrats. On a side note, I would cut any spider clutch on day 52 to 53 just to be sure. I watched a video where a guy went to cut after the first pipped and found where a desert spider cut the bottom of the egg and died.
