In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Snow babies

That was the best explination of incomplete dominance and co-dom I've seen!

I'm also wondering if they are related to the Macks. Do the supers look like Mack supers? I'm new to the whole Gem snow scene.

You should coem t omy bio class, my teacher used those exact same examples. The red and white fur exhibited togther...thats called Roan. Nice animals, if theyre not too pricey next year i may get into the snows.

Fine, fine...can you show what the homozygous form looks like? Nice way to skirt the question.

Tom,

Glad to hear you are learning this stuff in biology. Maybe you can give us some leasons after you absorb all of that knowledge, lol. Just goes to show you that some of that boring stuff they teach you in school does come in useful.

Shanti,

Wasn't trying to skirt the question. I explained in one of my early responses to Gregg. That:

I didn't really understand what I had until last year, so this year will be the first year that I have bred these that I didn't do almost all outbreeding.

So, I can't say with absolute certainty that I have or have not produced a homozygous specimen. Since this year, I am breeding snow to snow many times, I should know for sure what the homozygous form looks like. I guess I should have included a little more breeding history on my new web page.

How are you certain it's an incomplete dominate trait then? That would go to suggest you've seen a homozygous form. Otherwise, it would just be guessing at this point, right?

Thats what I was thinking as well....

I've only hatched one baby from a Gem Snow x Gem Snow breeding so far. No solid black eyes or anything like that...just a very white and grey look. I do have several more eggs incubating from the same pair. Once they hatch, maybe we'll have a better idea. Jim will certainly know about the homozygous form soon. I'll be crossing the Gem Snows and the Mack Snows a little later this season too...so that will be interesting. Here another picture of the Gem x Gem baby I hatched a few days ago (next to an aptor for comparison):

Wonderful pictures!! I love the pattern on your snow & the contrast with the sibling! They are just beautiful!!

Paul, that is one of my favorite pictures! :)

Since geckos with one snow allele can be visibly identified, it doesn't seem that the snow trait could have come in to your collection unnoticed. And the thought that the exact same mutation could have occurred in two collections seems pretty remote - although I suppose it's possible. So, I'm guessing you may be right that it's separate. Working with these guys is so exciting - I can't wait to see how it all turns out!! One thing's for sure, though - they are gorgeous!!!!

Man Paul, I am going to have to buy some from you to improve my own breeding stock, lol. Very nice!! I was hoping you would produce some killer babies. I expect that one to be a keeper.
Once more people start working with them, I expect we will see some gorgeous animals produced.
