    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So confused, any advice would be great

I've posted before that I thought there might be a problem with my first time breeding female, and with her most recent clutch of eggs, I'm now seriously questioning it. She just laid her 4th clutch of eggs and these don't look good either. One of them was actually layed outside of the lay box, and stuck to the side of the aquarium. Her first egg looked good up until it collapsed a week before its due date, the others were dented before I even put them in the incubator. She is the only female I'm having problems with, and the male she has been bred with, (and yes, I saw them mate a few times), has already produced a few babies.

Could she possibly be infertile, or are there any vitamins I could try giving her? She's on a diet of mealies, crickets and waxies, which are all dusted a few times a week, and a calci dish is always left in the tank. I use Repti-vite and Fluker's Calcium. I use vermiculite in deli cups with just enough moisture so that the vermiculite can be rolled into a ball but not drip any water. The deli cups have tiny air holes in them, should I cover up the holes?

Then I was beginning to question the hovabator I have. Is it ok that it keeps fluctuating between 83 and 85F? It never goes lower or higher, but I've heard temp changes are a bad thing. I've been trying to keep it at a constant temp, but I live in Buffalo and the temps in my house won't even stay constant. One day it's 75F outside, the next is 30F.

I would love any advice. If I have to, I won't breed her again. Her weight is still really good, but just not producing anything.

In this case I would try putting the male back in with her for several days. It could be that the initial breeding(s) just didn't "take" for whatever reason.

Some eggs look completely fertile all through incubation, then when they are way past due to hatch, begin to collapse. These almost always contain nothing but "goo" (I call them snot eggs lol).

If your other females are producing fertile eggs that are hatching for you, I would not think it is any type of supplementation issue. So my advice would be to try re breeding her. If you still are not getting fertile eggs you can try breeding her again next year. If you still have problems then she should probably be a pet only leo.

That sucks. Hopefully things will turn around for her. I like your title. Nice to see some Japanese action here.

I also have a "problem" female breeder, though she's not a first timer. Last year she laid irregularly, sometimes in the lay box, sometimes not and all the eggs were infertile. In the middle of the season I put her in with my other male for 2 days and she laid 2 clutches 2 weeks apart from which I got 3 healthy babies. I really want babies from the original pairing though (T. albino x Hines SHTCT) so she's in with the original male again. So far she's laid 4 eggs in 3 clutches. The first one went 8 weeks before collapsing. When I cut it open I found a tiny embryo, maybe 2 mm. So the eggs are fertile, just not developing. THe male is proven. I have one remaining egg in the incubator and am hoping for the best. So maybe your problems are because she's a first time breeder, or maybe there could be some incompatibility between the male and the female in some genetic way.

The male I have her paired with is a Tremper Albino and she's a HTCT. He had been bred with a SHTCT female and a high yellow in the past before I received him, and I also have two of those babies. My other male is a tangerine, but I'm not sure if I plan to breed him yet as his coloring has always been very dark.

Surprisingly, one of the eggs that she recently laid is no longer dented and may actually be fertile. I candled it yesterday to see some pink lines growing throughout it. The other egg that I had to peel off the side of the aquarium just started to grow mold, I don't think I should have even tried to save it. She's laid 3 clutches so far. Should I be expecting another one from her?
