    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

So goodbye my friends.....I know I may never....

Just kidding...sort of. I will still be around but am selling off my collection for awhile. It's not that I've fallen out of love with the hobby rather I am becoming so involved with family functions, not to mention lack of space at our new house, that I have to prioritize. I reckon I will have to get my boa fix by living vicariously through you guys for a while. My love of snakes simply cannot come before my family.

So, with a rather short explanation, if anyone wants to buy my any part of my collection just email me. I have everything from commons....to stripes....to sunglows....to triple hets moonglows to stacks of boaphiles. It all must go. Email me at [email protected].

Do have a great time with your family bro. Kids grow up quick and when you aren't looking you can miss things. The door will always be open and the temporary loss ( I hope ) will be felt.

Bob,

I understand you perfectly as I went through something similar last year. Hopefully you may be able to make an even stronger come back soon enough. Life has its cycles...

Best regards,

Dan

Dangit you better still hang around! and like bry said, your Temporary leave better be just that :) Family should come first of course...

are you still going to be keeping a few of your favorites?

With all respect to Bob, this is a discussion forum. Lets keep the sales stuff to the classifieds, PM, or emails.

Enjoy the time with your family, Bob. :thumbsup:

Bob, you will be truly missed here. I do understand what you are going through, family always comes first. I am glad that mine are grown and in Cali. LOL

You will be in our thoughts. Enjoy your little ones while they and you are still young.

I wish you well Bob, I certainly understand wanting more time with the family. I have put most of my personal desires on the back burner since becoming a dad, knowing full well they are only kids once and not wanting to lose any more of that time than necessary.

But I have to say, having less of you in this hobby is having less of what this hobby should be all about. Your presence will be missed.

You'll be missed here~ but I must say~ your a wise father. As my children get older and I see the empty nest approaching I regret many of the hours I spent doing my own thing when they were younger. It felt like I had all the time in the world then~ and now I know how very short thier childhoods were. Your a wise parent to see it and make the choice now to spend more time enjoying your children.

I'm confident that I will be back but not until my children can enjoy the hobby and take part in it as well. Right now they are either too young or simply too involved with other hobbies/sports. I know I did not get put on this earth to breed snakes but to raise some incredible kids that will have an impact on this world. I would rather store up my treasures there then I would in my snake room.

I will most certainly stay around as I have truly developed some friendships that rival those I've had in the past. I love the hobby and living vicariously through you guys suits me just fine.

Harald, do you want to buy some cages? ;)

Well Bob, sounds like you have your plan laid out. I wish you the best in your endeavors. Sorry to hear you have to give up your hobby to accomplish it, but it is, what it is, I reckon.

Good luck to you!

I have no doubt, knowing the care and love they get, that they will do just that :)

Very Honorable Departure if Ive ever read a hundred LOL!!
Best of Luck with the patience and diligence it will surely take .

Well, not to bring back a dead thread but the end has come. The last of my animals/caging has gone (took much longer then I thought) and my schedule is completely full now with baseball, VBS and countless other ways I am living via my children!

I truly do mean this that I love a lot of you guys and appreciate the friendship we've built over the years. If any of you are over this way let me know and lunch is on me! I doubt I will be by much as I need to officially kill the reptile bug that I've had so I don't get tempted again. Regardless, take care my friends and thanks for the past few years!
