In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So I got a free YellowBelly Male. need help.

1. is he really a yellowbelly? i do think so. everything points to it.

2. what else can i use on his burn besides A+D?

i looked at the guide to yellowbellys, he has the speckles on his belly, the light spot on the head, flames, and light spots on his back. just really cant see the speckling on his belly good from the scare.. :/

I don't know about the A&D, but my vet has prescribed Silver Sulfadiazine 1% cream for belly burns on snakes. I've used it with great results.

A trip to the vet would be a great idea just to make sure that an infection isn't present.

I agree. :iagree:

Op, IMO, identifying him as a morph is premature at this point (the pics are too blurry for me), but that open wound on the belly could turn septic and cause death. I hope you do find a Vet pronto.

i rescued him for the reason i wanted him to live. the guy that had him didnt know what to do with him. he had no idea really. this guy with be my 9th ball python. i am keeping him on newspaper in my racksystem for now. i have took care of a sever belly rot before and this is nothing as bad as that. i will update pictures of him.

thanks for the help guys. is there anything else i should do?
i just want clyde to be able to have a good life.

I don't see yellowbelly in that snake. Sorry. Atleast not with the pics

Vet first and foremost..but, if its gonna be awhile before you get him in... Snake oil and neosporin. And make sure that you dont keep a water dish in with him I would suggest. Just give it to him a couple times a day so he can drink, but, him getting that sore wet could cause bad stuff I would think, so, you dont want him spilling water on his enclosure.

yeah i have got him a good small spot in my rack. he is doing very well. even ate a F/t mouse today also. when he gets good and healed up im going to breed him to one of my females to see what he makes. but first he has to get better. i will post new pictures of him in a week or 2 with his improvements. thanks everyone!

He looks better today also. I know it's a sad thing but I really wanted to save him so I drove 2 hours to pick him up. When he gets better I will put an update about Clyde. When to the vet and they said I'm doing great. He passes food fine also.

Generally, putting any newly acquired snake right into the rack with your others is not advised....but it's a definite no-no when that snake is a "rescue" with known problems.
Quarantine is isn't just a fancy word....it should be your friend.

Ah - I misunderstood, apparently. Between the number of snakes, and reference to your rack (singular), I thought you put him in the same rack with your other snakes.
Forget I was here.

harald, I think its good that you posted that though. Too many people dont feel the need to quarantine and its just scary. All it takes is one sick snake

Not to highjack the thread, but I agree completely with the quarintine issue. It can be a huge pain if you are not set up for it, but what's worse? A: take time to set up area as far removed as possible from other snakes B: not take the time and lose every snake in your collection from an issue that could have been avoided? I think I'll take the time. To the OP I don't see YB and I surely hope he gets better. Silvadine is the way to go for burns, u need a prescription but worth it's weight in silver at least. My wife is a nurse so I have a huge tub of it upstairs for burns on myself, and as stated works wonders. You are not supposed to put A&D on a burn as it doesn't allow for the area to breath. Best of luck and keep us updated.
