    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So upset!!

My mom and stepfather run a trucking company and their trucks are currently working in Texas. Well, one of the drivers said that the streets are full of stray dogs and someone even dumped a litter of puppies on the street! He asked at a resteraunt if there was a humane society and was told by the snotty waitress that there isnt one and "Who cares, they're just mutts":angry: The driver said if he was going home soon he'd put them in his truck but he's gotta stay there another week and there's no way he and a litter of pups will fit in his truck (he's sleeping in his truck btw). I feel so bad for those poor pups. It sickens me knowing that people can be so heartless. :crying:
 
I feel sick thinking about a driver sitting there a week waiting on a backhaul. I hope he's getting some pay for that.

Be sick about the people who are irresponsible regarding the care of their dogs that led to the situation, not at the waitress who probably isn't a dog person.

He's not there on back haul. He's there with a crew working on some pipeline project. Obviously he's getting paid for it.

Even if you aren't a dog person how can you not feel bad about abandoned puppies? I'm not much of a dog person either but I still feel bad for them!
 
The ironic thing is that happens so frequently and badly with cats that it's become socially acceptable to have feral cats running around. Would your mom and stepdad have felt the same way if they saw a bunch of feral kittens running around? My guess is probably not.

Havent you ever heard the saying, "never assume anything"? My grandmother feeds all the stray cats in my area and she and I have taken many litters of stray kittens to the shelter and paid for vet care, spaying, etc for all the adult stray cats. You dont know me or my family so please dont 'assume' you would know how we would react.

Threads often get a bit derailed, and I think that's happened here.

Yes, I think it's awful that a litter of pups have been abandoned, and I would also feel very bad knowing that there was so little concern. People can be very hard-hearted.

I'd suggest that your driver consults a phone directory rather than a waitress though - I'm sure there's some form of humane society in the region if he looks hard enough.

Hope to hear some good news on this one.
 
I wasn't giving you a critique, I was speaking about people in general. I worded my statement poorly and I apologize. I absolutely agree, it's heartbreaking to see those pups out and about and to be confronted with people who are indifferent about the whole thing. I was simply making the observation that people, again in general, just don't care. It's sad.

We all feel bad about lots of things,but most of the time there's not a lot we can do about it. I could pull the same card on you, "How could you not care about starving kids in Ghana, yet you post about the poor stray animals?"

See, it doesn't make much sense.

No one "critiqued" anyone. Someone just has really thin skin. :shrug01:

I'm sorry I don't feel the need to fluff up my posts with touchy-feely-ness. I've always been blunt. What I said wasn't meant to offend, it's just the way I am.

But still, I realize it's a sensitive issue, but some of us do tend to be blunt here. When in doubt, it's best to take a step back, breathe, and reread stuff before you reply. Although honestly I should take my own advice sometimes, I freely admit. I don't feel that anyone meant to be attacking you in particular, or underestimating the callousness of others with regards to the dogs.

The ignore function Metachrosis endorses is simply a way of dodging information you may not like. It's a cop out, and quite frankly I believe it is immature. It proves you are unwilling to listen to dissenting or opposing ideas, which is a weakness and not a strength. Metachrosis, for example, has me blocked despite openly and loudly expressing dissatisfaction with any type of censorship and being a very overt conspiracy theorist. I choose not to ignore anyone because even though I may disagree with them, I feel that you learn much more from those whom you may disagree with or actually dislike than from those whom you like and agree with. Surround yourself only with friends, and you will lead a shallow, unphilosophical, uninteresting life. Comfort only goes so far before one stagnates. You don't learn about yourself until you open yourself to uncomfortable situations or ideas.

And, since I have drifted off topic (again, I apologize), I will refrain from posting again in this thread unless others decide to carry on the conversation.

Geeze someone needs to get thicker skin. Yes we all feel for the puppies, but it's really not that unusual to have someone drop off pups or kittens for that matter...sad but true reality...

Actually forgot I had made this thread. I will freely admit I am thin skinned when it comes to animal welfare. Anything else doesnt bother me at all but animals and their well being are my weak spot. I was a bit emotional when I replied to this post and I'd like to apologise if I offended anyone.
 
Kelsie if you will give me a town or county name I'll look around online and see if I can find anyone who might help the puppies. Of course they may not even be there anymore?

The driver went back there with some hard puppy chow food to feed them and he said they were gone. He looked around for a half hour and couldnt frind them unfourtunatly. Thanks anyway Lucille!
 
Animal Warden picked up a litter in city I work in yesterday. My wife said no :(
