Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. I found two 250w solar panels on craigslist for 300 each, I was wondering how many cages this could power?

I'm moving in around 2 months and when I get my income tax I plan on building around 4 4'x8' cages and start breeding beardies

I know it will be a lot of power usage and was thinking about using solar to cut down on the cost if I can find panels big enough to power them for cheap.

I like the idea. But thats not many watts for beardies. I have seen them and would like to run all my heat tape for boa's on a couple. Not that electric for heat tape is costly.But it all adds up. If you do it,post how it goes and what you ran on each 250 one.
 
That actually sounds pretty cool. I never considered it myself but one 250 watt panel would run most of my bp racks. I only use 3" flex watt. 250 watts is actually over kill with lots of growing room for me. Definitely keep us up to date on what you do.
 
Awesome idea! However the startup cost would be steep if ur gonna do it right. Those Internet order Chinese made solar panels are worthless. Do not waste your time with those. You will be replacing them every 6-12months. If you wanna do it right, try emailing a local electrical engineer or a commercial/industrial electrician and explain what your trying to. Make sure you have figures of your projected monthly power consumption as well as any other important details of your operation. Personally, I would not buy solar panels from Craigslist people. You have no idea if they even work! Even worse they could be stolen! What recourse do u have if something goes wrong after you have installed your panels? A google search and a couple hours online reading should help too! Hope everything works out, and keep us posted.
