Species: Hermann's tortoises, like many Testudo species, are perfect due to their size and their adaptability to most places here in the U.S. These do well outdoors year-round in the valley here in Northern CA and also at higher elevations as long as they don't get wet during hibernation. The Western Hermann's has nice vivid coloring on its shell when compared to the Eastern Hermann's and is smaller in size but note that the Sardinia locale can get as big as some of the smaller Eastern Hermann's females.
Enclosure: Outdoor housing when possible is the way to go. These tortoises love to graze and worship the sun. A cold-hardy species that I hibernate outdoors in a dry area that is filled with straw (not hay).
Diet: The hatchlings are feeding on a variety of weeds, grape leaves, mulberry leaves, cactus pads and rose petals. I feed Zoomed Grassland tortoise diet twice a week.

The most important thing for me is that my hatchlings get a good home so if you are new to the hobby then I am happy to help you with every aspect of their care.
