    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Why is it that every person who takes in unwanted animals is suddenly a "non-profit organization"? Do people not understand that a non-profit organization is a legal definition, and requires a designation of such from the IRS?

Something about seeing ads from these people actually soliciting for animals (and, hmmmm, the same types of animals that they BREED and SELL, although certainly not the rescued ones!) just makes my blood boil. Maybe because I know what true, certified, licensed animal rescue organizations actually go through in order to do their jobs, but for whatever reason they just torque my tookus. :hot:

There seemed to be a new flurry of these "ads" in various forums today, so it got me wound up.

I totally agree, Ms. Terese. A genuine non profit organization will many times have a sale or auction once a year as a fundraiser, and provides paperwork up front to show its tax status if asked.
Also, these places rarely solicit animals, they are usually busting at the seams with animals they care for.
On the emergency occasion, I feel it is OK to solicit: after the hurricane in Louisiana many people posted for food as well as requests for manpower to reunite owners and pets.
But often these small groups are not what they appear, it is certainly worthwhile to ask for documentation.

The folks that post these kind of ads, I think, consider themself nonprofit oragnizations just because they will take the critter and not charge you. But, I am willing to bet that they put them back into the market with a price and a "history".

Another thing I think of when I see these kinds of ads is that it is probably someone that wants an animal, but cannot afford what they want.

Some time back, I did respond to an ad placed on VenomousReptiles where someone was looking for free snakes, { I wanted to know if they had an anaconda }, and I got, in return, a Nigerian scam letter from the address, so perhaps thats what they are after-- email addresses making first contact.
