In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Some pics of my baby!

Keeping up with the Zuchowski's......

LOL! Actually~ I don't know anything about cars and didn't even realize Scott was buying the same kind of car you did until I recognised the pic in you used to have in your avator as looking like a Blue sister of his car! LOL

ScottsCar_14_small.JPG

I don't know about all those C-5/Z06 stuff~ but I bet Scott does. All I know is it's pretty~ it's red......and he won't let me put a bumper sticker on it that says "The Red Dragons Ride" .......geeeee.....I don't understand why! He sure didn't treat my little car with half the respect he treats that red one with! Infact~ my little car got relegated to street parking so that he could use the drive way to put his red car into the garage (which he cleaned the garage for the first time EVER in order to make room to park that red car!)

My little car is better........
Paid for~ Cheap~ great gas milage~ has four seats~
And the only reason anyone would ever steal my cheap little car would be to use it to look for Scott's car to steal!
CherysCar_1_small.JPG

........Your car is sweet Rich! And I'm sure I'll like Scott's much better once I wheedle my way into it being MY car!

LOL! Yeah, it's definitely an illness. I was afraid to even consider a red one because it is so stereotypical. You know, old guy going through a mid life crisis buying a red sports car. That kind of thing. But a red Corvette does look pretty darn sharp.

Just wait until Scott starts checking the weather maps before deciding to go for a ride to make sure it won't rain on his car. ;)

Anyway, I am sure he will enjoy the hell out of that vette. And you will to, most certainly. Connie loves the car ALMOST as much as I do and she won't drive it. She's afraid she will hurt it. I guess mostly because she is not that familiar with the stick shift. Unfortunately the Z06 was not made with an automatic transmission. Which doesn't bother me because I really like the manual transmission on something like that.

BTW, if Scott has any questions, let him know I will try to help him out as much as I can. And tell him for me, "Welcome to the cult!"

The whole tires thing you went through got me to thinking.

25k miles on the S55 now and it needed tires. So Thursday of last week I went to the tire store and about cried.

2 fronts in 255/35YR19 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 $648.00

2 rears in 285/30YR19 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 $850.00

Grand total mounted, balanced, disposal fee, road hazard, and tax.. $1.542.21

And every 3k miles I gotta get a "Nitrogen fill " with the rotation as per Michelin's advice.

Maybe there will last longer that 25k miles, but being "summer compound" I doubt it... :(

Did you check out TireRack.com? That's where I got my tires from.

2 295/35YR-18 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 In Stock $377.00 $754.00
2 265/40YR-17 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 In Stock $235.00 $470.00

Of course, 19 inch tires ARE going to be expensive!

Now I KNOW I am out of my freaking mind.....

This Z06 is faster then anything I have ever driven by one HELL of a long shot, and here I want to make it go faster...... I can't believe I am looking into twin turbo chargers for it. But heck, we had one hell of a good show at Daytona and sales have been EXCEPTIONALLY good this season, and I have some play money to fool around with. So what could be more fun then a *turbocharged* Corvette?

Rich, go for it!! Git'er Dun!! There is no such thing as a car being "too fast"!!

I don't know if you can add stupidity to my comment, okay well that kid can. Though the "only in California" comment, I can top that with this website:

www.WreckedExotics.com

That is the place where rich kids in other countries drive far more expensive cars, wreck them out then buy a new one the next week.

I did and the prices were about the same before shipping. And then I would have to get Crysta our office manager to drive one of the Tahoe's to a local tire store to have them mounted and balanced, pay them for that and a disposal fee also. I cam out about as good as I could have unless I had a relative that worked for Michelin.

And as for making the 06 faster. Turbo's are quirky little boogers and produce a hell of a lot of heat. And that just isn't real good for a small space like the under hood area of a newer vette. I would go the supercharger route. Paxton and procharger make a kit for the vette in the 3k price range. And I think Keene Bell makes one also. With the proper pully you can get around 9-11 pounds of boost which equates to around 80-120 hp depending on other modifications. But then again I am very fond of superchargers (I drive one of the few supercharged cars avaliable from the factory). Nitrous is ok but have the wrong timing set or get crappy detonation and you can destroy an engine in a matter of seconds. And then you have to give up space in a very limited trunk area for a 10 pound bottle.

Well, I have been boning up on the power adders for about a year now, checking out all of the available options and weighing the pros and cons of each. I think I have done my homework.........

Yes, I agree with you completely about the turbos as far as heat is concerned. Which is why I ruled out an under the hood turbo system. Besides having to yank off the headers I just had put on not long ago (thereby wasting the money I spent on them), the amount of heat those things would produce under the hood is just going to be a killer on the engine and everything else near to them.

hot_turbo2.jpg

All of the superchargers I looked at had one failing or another as well. Both the Magnacharger and the Kenne-Bell require a new hood for clearance. Which along with getting the hood painted, adds about $2,000 to the price right off the bat.

The centrifugal units (such as Paxton, Procharger, and Vortech) can have drive belt issues if the alignment isn't PERFECT. And having a belt get thrown or shredded puts you down for the count. It is not something you can just replace alongside the road very easily.

And with ALL the superchargers, they put load on the engine as well as putting additional heat under the hood, which is a known issue resulting in a LOT of cars overheating while in traffic. They act much like the compressor on the air conditioner, in that it adds a load to the engine in order to drive the thing. When you add the intercooler, which normally blocks part of the radiator, that just makes the problem even worse.

Further, ALL of the under the hood solutions added about 80+ pounds to the front of the car, putting off the balance and handling somewhat.

As for nitrous, nah, that stuff scares me. Plus it is probably a pain in the butt trying to get the bottle filled. Not to mention I wouldn't want to be in an accident with a bottle of that stuff nearby.

So what it all boiled down to was one unit that I had briefly looked at early on in the game, but discounted because I was afraid that my living on a dirt road would be a problem with it. That is because not only are the twin turbos mounted to the rear of the car, but the air inlet filters are there also, tucked up underneath the bumper, behind the tail lights. My fear was that the dust from the road would clog them in nothing flat. But evidently they come with a sort of sleeve, that actually repels the dust and sloughs it off. And cleaning the filters is done simply by removing two of the taillights to get to them.

Anyway, here's a pic of the setup:
sts_twintip01.jpg

I heard some people say they didn't like this system (STS), but NONE of them actually had them on their car. EVERYONE who has one, just really likes it and most rave about it. And the setup pretty much evenly distributes the weight of the system, which helps keep the handling close to normal.

And the price isn't all that bad. Especially since I lucked into a STS dealer who had ordered one for a customer, and the guy backed out. They hadn't taken a deposit, so they wanted to free up the money and offered it to me at THEIR cost. Plus with some optionals thrown in to boot.

The cool thing is that I can keep the boost modest (higher boost can often mean other things in the drivetrain can break), but raising boost is as easy as changing a spring in the wastegate. Matter of fact, they make an electronic control whereby at the flip of a switch I could change the boost from 6 psi to 15 psi just on the basic system. Going to 15 psi on stock pistons with the higher compression of the Z06 is probably just not a real good idea.

Anyway, with the basic system and getting the car tuned properly, I'm expecting to see 525 rwhp or so. Getting it installed next week down in Tampa so the drive home should be REAL FUN...

Turbo's in the rear of the car under it... New concept to me, but it looks rather sweet.

People who have the system give it rave reviews.

Here's their website in case you are interested -> http://www.ststurbo.com/

Can't WAIT to get it installed!
