    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Mind you, this person lives in the u.k. as well. They are registered under j_norton. I don't really know what's up with these messages but they seem a little fishy to me so I thought I'd post about it. Has anyone else recieved one from this person? Thanks! Diana Mason
 
Nigerian Scam in one of it's mant forms. They will offer to pay with a jarge cashiers check and ask you to send them the difference after you deposit it. The check will be a forgery.

I got a few emails from her yesterday and today she sent me a private message on fauna. Same one as yours. I really hate the feeling these scam artists are amongst as members on fauna. I can pick them out like bruised fruit but I fear some poor newbie to this is gonna get burnt.
 
Either ignore it or string her along. The more time she has tied up with you is less time she can scam others. There are some great threads on here about what some people have done to these bad people. Good luck!
 
At this point I really have no justification to delete that account. Anyone have any solid evidence that this is a scam?
 
I guess until you get the tell tale let me send you a huge amount money order, cash it and send the rest back we wont know if it is a true scam. Hopefully, the Nigerian scammers haven't found their way here.

I had this e-mail conversation a few days ago, it's a good example of what's going on:

His total price is $540 shipped, and I can ship Monday through Wednesdays. I've got a show in 12 days I'm planning on taking him to, so let me know ASAP if you want him. I won't ship him past Monday since next week that's my only shipping day because of the show. He went to a routine vet check on Thursday, February 24th and looks great. That's pretty much the format for the scam

It does sound fishy, and with PayPal available for even the most non-plastic among us, there's no need to deal in cashiers checks from unknown entities. This is very common with Ebay, and often an overpayment is made "in error", by misplacement of a decimal point, etc. Unsuspecting sellers do get caught every now and then, gladly cooperate in the refund of the overpayment, and keep the whole scam going. I have no doubt that they will be "laminated" if and when the scam becomes apparent. Thanks for the "heads-up".

Someone also emailed me today that she had inquired to about a leopard gecko (also recieved the same identical email as me). This is the email he sent me.

Not really sure what to make of all this. The email above makes it seem like this is a real person and really wants to buy these animals since she wants to use postal money orders. Can you even get usps money orders in the u.k. though? I'll keep you all posted on any further emails or pm's I get from her. Diana Mason:)
 
Rich, it is a scam account. I've received the same emails from this individual as well.

She responded to a camien(sp?) ad with the same thing as the one I got. Little weird, don't ya think? Sounds like a scammer to me. I'll keep you all updated though as I get emails and pms back from her, trying to string her along as long as I can and find out as much as I can about how she's trying to scam people. Diana Mason

firstly when i mentioned charges i meant that western union will bill me not you!!!!!!! an additional cahrge for sending any money out of u.k,secondly my cousin will make the payment on my behalf and i will credit her account over here cos she has a bank account over here in the u.k.which wont cost me as much as aa western union money transfer would
thirdly its only reasonable to give you my shippers address and phone number or that of my cousin only when we have concluded this transaction.right now we have not so i have no reason of what so ever to disclose their contacts to you now until when necessary.
but since you insist on me making use of western union i will go to the nearest western union office and i will ask for the charges tio send money to you and if it exceeds my budget then i will notify you but if its okay with me then i will also notify you.

You should go with it, and see if she actually sends you a countefeit USPS money order. I've never seen them use one of those, it's usually cashiers check's cause you can't tell as easy if they are bogus.
 
I'm fairly certain this is a scam. Its just to damn obvious.


And if its not... well.... anyone calling a caiman a snake does not deserve to own live animals IMO. :D
