    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey all, just wanted to share something i thought was cool and see if anyone else has had it happen. I bought a 4ftish long boa a few months ago and the first time i fed it when i gave her f/t rats she took em right outta the tongs and ate em. Didnt strike just saw em and started eating em liek she killed em. She hasnt done it since tho, and now just treats em like theyre alive. I thought it was so cool tho i wish she still did it. Anyone else had a snake do this?

I had a 4' .1 Hypo BCI that did that. The first time I fed her I was holding the f/t rat about 12" - 16" above her tub. She came up slowly like she was stalking the rat. I was waiting for her to SLAM IT, but she just opened her mouth gently and started eating it right off the tongs. She did the same thing several more times before I got out of BC's...

All of my BP's eat like Retics...

I have a large male that still does that. First time I fed him I did the "rat dance" with it and he sped to the other side of his enclosure. Now I just show it to him and he eats it right off the tongs.

I have a little Mexican BCI that does that. She was the first BCI I ever saw do that. Freaked me out. LOL! I have a friend with a 10' Colombian female that does it too.

I've had both Boa and Ball Pythons strike at fresh killed (body temp) rats, but just gently eat room temp F/T.
Now I have young Fiji Boas (Candoia) eating F/T geckos; they strike when I haven't fed them for a while, but just open their mouths and engulf geckos straight from the tongs (or even my fingers) if I'm feeding them weekly. I find it very mannerly, and am trying to encourage it!

My big girl MJ was like that when I first got her, but now she hits it like a freight train.

Don't have a reason, but I have speculated, that maybe she was used to it just being placed in her cage, allowing her to find it on her own, so she adjusted to that. Since I tend to get her attention first, then give her the rat, maybe that is what caused her to change?

But I used to know a guy with a 14 ft Anny that would take rats at leisure, right from the palm of his hand. Not that I recommend trying such an idiotic move, but some do remain gentle about eating.
