    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have a pair of spiders that i got last august, and when i got them they moved in a jerky sort of way. (Had a boa with ibd that i got from a not so reputable breeder) So i called the breeder who i got the spiders from and asked why they were moving in a jerky sort of way, he said it was a weak gene in the spider bloodline. Wondering if what he was telling me was true i asked a couple other breeders and they said the same thing. They have gotten better about moving as they get bigger but sometimes are still jerky or loop around themselves. So I don't know if I am worrying about nothing or if it is a valid reason to be nervous. So my question to everyone is what is their take on the situation, Thanks

Just to let everyone know, I didn't have the boa at the same time as the spiders, i got rid of them at least a year before getting any of my ball pythons.

Jamie, what you have been told is correct. The Spider morph is afflicted with an abnormality. Some refer to it as "the wobbles", some have other names for it.

Some show little to no signs of it while others show more extreme signs of it. Some show no signs while young but develop it over time, some show varying degrees of this while young and improve with age, while others never show any sign at all.

Regardless, it is real and there is really nothing that can be done about it. No amount of cross breeding with new blood has had any effect on it. Some will say the morph should not be bred at all due to this and others think it is something that can be managed with responsible breeding. To each his own I say on this particular matter.

Also, the Spider is not the only morph out there that seems to have some abnormality to them. I know there was a thread here in the ball forum discussing the abnormalities of different morphs a while back. You might want to do a search and read that thread.

But no worries, you were not lied to about the Spiders. And in the vast majority of cases they appear to live perfectly normal lives even with the condition. Good luck with your critters!

Not that I am well-known around here, so take my agreement for what it's worth...but you got a great answer from Sammy; he's one of the best & knows what he's talking about!

Just wondering... You said that you had a Boa with IBD, and then that you got rid of them at least a year before getting your Balls.

How many animals were in your collection when you had IBD, and how exactly did you get rid of them?

Got a female boa first, she was the only snake we had, then got a male from someone we found out later was not very reputable, kept them in different rooms at first, a few months later he started star gazing and not eating well and just moving oddly brought him to the vet was told he had ibd so we had him put down, the female started acting strangely later and we ended up having her put down also, we got rid of everything they every came in contact with, learned more about the disease and learned a tough first timers lesson, I'm sure that our spider has a mild case of the wobbles, he acts nothing like the boa did, sorry if the first post was confusing, wrote too quickly
