Effective today, ALL warning points have been cleared from anyone not currently suspended from this site. The warning levels have also been modified so that in nearly all cases, someone will get a warning shot fired across their bow before being fined and suspended. You are invited to look at the current warning point levels so you are aware of the severity of each infraction:

The Fine and Suspension level is now set at 12 warning points, so as you will notice many of the infractions are a "three strikes and you are out" sort of arrangement. Some of the more serious ones will only get a single warning before tripping the wire. And please note that the warning points are evaluated as a TOTAL and not as separate infractions. In other words, it's the 12 point TOTAL that gets you fined and suspended, and not 3 incidents of each infraction at 4 points each. The assumption is that anyone getting ANY warning points will then take the time to view the rules here and be cognizant of what are infractions and what is expected of them in reference to those rules.
Secondly, when if you reach the 12 point limit and get fined and suspended, your current warning point total will be cleared to zero. However, there is a log maintained for each member available to myself and the site mods to view that will be used to keep track of any member who proves to have a real problem following the rules. At roughly 100 warning points TOTAL, more then likely the offending member will get themselves banned permanently.
So I believe this is what some people have asked for in toning down the enforcement of the rules. It also removes some of the more negative aspects of a permanently visible warning log record attached to your member name. And it does allow come leeway for new members who may make honest mistakes in judgment.
If things begin to get way out of hand, this can be subjected to change without notice, but I do hope that won't be necessary. I believe the crackdown had the needed result here, and there wasn't too much collateral damage because of it. There was some, of course, which I do regret, but I just couldn't see any way to make the omelet without breaking a few eggs in the process.
Thanks.
