    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I still get a couple of those "stalls" every now and then. But other than that it appears to be smooth sailing.
 
can't be of much help, Rich...EVERYTHING on my end seems slower than usual the past several days :shrug01:

I can say that I haven't run into any problems, though. :thumbsup:
 
Well, things should be SCREAMING fast with this new server.......... :shrug01:
 
I occasionally get a "stall", no biggie. I would estimate my page loads to be about 30 - 50% faster.
 
After a little more consideration, I am changing my original estimate to 50 - 75% faster.
 
It's been about a month since I said it was working fine~ and now my opinion has changed. Seems like every day since I said it was fine....its gotten a little slower and slower. Now when I come on Fauna I usually wind up opening a second window to cruise other sites while I wait for any page here to go ahead and load. It SAYS it's loaded~ says "Done" at the bottom bar of the screen......but takes anywhere from another 15 seconds (short) to another full minute (long) to load the page every time I change pages. Doesn't sound like that long....but if you just want to take a quick look~ takes a full minute to get the main page, another to get to new posts, another on every post you click.....it turns into a bit of time waiting for the pages to load.

And I really think it's getting a little slower every day~ and not just on one computer.....I come here using two different computers depending on whats going on here and both are doing the same thing.
 
I made some changes in the way DNS is handled by the server. Let me know if it makes any difference, pro or con......
 
Been about a 3-5 second load time for me lately using firefox. Only experienced the hang time when responding to a post, but not consistently. :shrug01:

Other than that, I've had no problems lately.

Rich, whatever you just did has made a significant difference on my 768 DSL loading time (for the better).
 
For me it is like skips. There are times when it goes nice and fast and then there are those little glitches where it takes awhile to load. I go through MSN and always have and use DSL. If I had to guess I would say 60% no lag time and 30 % some lag with 10% big lag time. Just a minor annoyance at times but certainly nothing that bothers me overly much.
I have foxfire, maybe I should try it more often.
BTW ~ Just tried spell check came back saying "fatal errors".

There are some problems in the database, but in order to inspect and fix them, the tech helping me with the server issues will need to take the site down completely. The problem is that when that happens, my mailbox fills up with database errors logged from everyone trying to log in. Trying to figure out some way to prevent that. Probably easiest way would be to just take my email address out of the contact section in the admin area. Maybe I could put someone else's there and fill up THEIR mailbox.... :reddevil:

The tech asked my how I do backups, so that has me a little bit nervous.... :ack2:

As for the error with spell check, haven't tried that, so I'll give it a whirl right now....

Yup..... getting a fatal error..... Sheesh....
 
Just a suggestion, lol, but since most people read the BOI the most you can post a inquiry thread on the BOI letting everyone know what is going on :)
