In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How has this site been running for everyone, speed wise? I've been having problems with pages hanging up and taking forever to display, so I'm not sure if it is the server or my ISP. So I figure I should check with everyone else....

Thanks.....

I have times when it hangs up and just displays a green screen for up to 30 -45 seconds. I was having problems last week viewing profiles.

Who is your ISP? Mine is Comcast, and I've got a suspicion that it may be a Comcast routing problem.... it also may make a difference what part of the country is accessing the server.

Same here. Hangs up so I close the browser, clear the cache and then it opens ok. It happens several times a day. I haven't experienced it on any other site.

Hangs up for me also, usually 30seconds or so, but sometimes much longer. It'll usually pop right up if I refresh the page though. I use verizon.

That happens here fairly often too. Sometimes the load is immediate (or close enough for human perception), as I expect with my connection. Sometimes it loads the background green and nothing else, the little status box claims it's done loading but there's nothing visible. I've actually had it hang there for several minutes a few times, although if it doesn't load in about thirty seconds, I usually try refreshing.

Using comcast, they offer a couple different packages in this area and I'm supposed to be running a minimum of six megs per second into the modem. I've never seen it drop below that when the connection is active, although I lose some to the router and some of the older Frankenboxes choke themselves down.

I've still been having random issues, as well - nothing like the problems right after the server change, however.

Comcast is used here. Several times I have had a blank screen..but using the refresh button usually resolves the issue. The loading of the pages has been no slower than usual.

I seem to have some slow load times from time to time in addition to the occassional hang up. I don't seem to get this as much with other sites, so I've always kind of assumed that it was the sheer magnatude of this forum that caused some of the slowdowns. I must say that I still think that it has been a LOT better since the server change...that made a BIG difference in speed.

For what it's worth, the problems that I do experience seem to be very intermittent.

Sorry for the delayed response. Bellsouth (well, AT&T now) DSL.

Suddenlink cable modem here - wireless router at home, at work I have Suddenlink cable modem at work with a wireless router business level package with more band width - using the same laptop in both places .

I don't notice a difference on my desktop at work using a T1 line through AT&T (SBC prior to merger).

Overall, the only thing I've noticed is that pages take awhile to load. Last week it seemed to hang up a few times, only had to refresh infrequently - seems like one day it happend more than the others. I think that the longest pauses between pages are 10 seconds are so. The most noticable lag time is when replying to a thread but I figure that's got more to load up.

I'm using XP Pro and IE to browse.
