In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Steps To Become Fedex Certified!!!

I was waiting for my heat packs to get in so i can ship off the box well they came in but there not what i orded. I orded uniheat 40 hour well some GRABBER warm pack 60+ hour is what they sent me. Is this a ok heatpack to use?

It's OK particularly during the winter. I would only be concerned when you are shipping from a cold location to a warm one. In that case I feel more comfortable with 40-h or even less (24-h) heat packs, as the latter will be generating less heat towards 10:30 am when you are approaching delivery time at destination and the ambient temperatures are starting to increase.

Regards,

When I called fedex they told me they'll ONLY ship business to business.

If I say the houses are business and people are GURANTEED to be home will they still ship?

How do breeders ship to ppls homes???

When I called fedex they told me they'll ONLY ship business to business.

they told me the same thing. im on the list now to ship but i wont be shipping just yet. Im just going to put it down as Business im sure they dont care.

It doesn't matter what they told you on the phone, what matters is what is in the contract/waiver. If your rep is telling you this then ask for the contact number for their legal dept. they are who draft the waiver/contract.

This is basically a one time deal. The people at fedex are pretty much hinting to me that I should just package the animals up really really well, and ship them.

The only question I have is... are the cabins pressurized? I'm going to put heat pads in there but I don't want the snakes to not have enough oxygen and what not... I can build a box safe enough for them.

Did anyone read about the debt of FedEx with the IRS? I hope this doesn't impact their prices, as it's huge.

Well, then by all means if it is "just a one time deal" then you should just go ahead and ship them on the sly, with no regard for their company policy, the LACEY Act, or your fellow herpers who took the time to actually go through the process and do things the right way.

This thread is full of helpful info on how to go about getting certified to ship. You were the one that inferred that since "this was a one time thing" you were going to just ship without going through the steps necessary to become certified. Excuse me if I don't feel inclined to offer you help in trying to beat the system. :dunce:

Uh no pal. I was saying that FEDEX WAS BASICALLY SAYING SINCE IT IS A ONE TIME DEAL, SHIP THEM TIGHT AND DONT SAY ANYTHING.

I REFUSE to put my snakes lives in jeopardy to cut corners on this. I'm just afraid that this certification process is going to take too long.

and if you don't want to help then DON'T post a reply. It's really that simple.

if you don't want a reply then don't post asinine statements in a public forum.

Why would anyone in a position of authority at Fed-Ex willingly tell you to violate company policy? Use your head; whoever you got your info from doesn't know what they are talking about.

If you "REFUSE to put my snakes lives in jeopardy" have you considered the consequences if the box is discovered to contain items that you aren't authorized to ship while in transit? What are you going to do if they stop the box half way across the country and tell you to come pick up your snakes?

use YOUR head. I never said I was going to do this. THREE PEOPLE that work at fedex have said this option to me. but I guess you're a know it all about everything, and everyone is perfect and abides by their companies rules. jesus christ.

First you have to set up an acct with FedEx. This costs you nothing. It can be done on line or by phone. It is easier and quicker online (I would think anyway) since you do not have to hold and have people asking you to repeat something.

Go to http://fedex.com/us/ and click on the link on the left hand side near the top where it says 'opening an acct'. Go through the steps from there. **by setting up an acct. you get free labels etc. You can have them pre-printed with your shipping info, I received mine the other day.
AFTER 24 hours (takes that long to process it and make it 'live')
After you do the above things you will then need to call 1-800-GOFEDEX (4633339) and ask customer service to have your account representative call you. This can take anywhere between a few hours to 48 hours. While you are waiting you can go to http://fedex.com/us/services/expres...ging/tips.html, scroll down towards the bottom and click on a link that says 'complete this form' under the heading "Packaging Testing or Evaluation". This is the form you will have to print and fill out to send with your package.

Ok this link doesnt work to package test evaluate Anyone have a working link? Thank you so much for finally getting this out in the open everyone!

Ok after over an hour and a half of reading through this thread I am at the end. I have my application filled out and am ready to send off my test box but have a few questions that were not fully addressed as of yet to my knowledge.
1. Who is Daniel at Scales? I am assuming this is a website that shipping supplies are available.
2. What are the specifics of shipping a reptile? I got a pair of kings last winter shipped to my door in a small box marked perishable and arrows pointing up. FedEx Priority Overnight 3 pounds. 1 heat pack 2 snakes individually bagged in cloth. Shredded newspaper and styrofoam peanuts all surrounded by thin styrofoam sheets. Is this what the test lab expects because obviously it worked well from Florida to Oklahoma in the snow.
3. When I go to ship do I just take my box up to the nearest FedEx office, walk up to the counter, and tell them I need this box to go across the U.S. NOW?
I have never shipped anything in my life so please do not respond as if I am an idiot as tempting as it may be. I have wanted to ship reptiles for years but never wanted to do it illegally, but finally I can ship out my captive bred reptiles with a bit of help from experienced breeders/shippers. Thank you in advance for your help!

Heath,

There's a thread in the shipping forum describing in detail how to ship reptiles. Good information. The lab expects you to send them the box exactly as if you were sending your snakes (except for the heat packs!). You can send your box inside another one for additional protection. As far as the shipping itself we don't have a FedEx shipping station in town, just the trucks that will stop by their pick-up spots at a stated time. That works perfect for us because we pick the last spot before they ride to the airport, thus minimizing the time the animals are in transit. Otherwise you just walk to the counter and fill out the form for sending packages. Make sure you specify priority overnight delivery by marking the right box. The employee at the office can help you out. Be prepared as some employees might not like to have a box with snakes at their office waiting for the pick-up truck. Try to pick up a time for drop-off when there's not a lot of people at the counter. You will be authorized but the other customers around you don't know about it.

Good luck.

Have you signed up yet for your FedEx account online? That's the first step, then contact your rep. As Dan said pack up a box just like you were going to ship, minus the snake of course. SCALES went out of business but you can order shipping supplies here http://www.superiorenterprise.com

Once you and your acct have spoken and he is ready for you to ship the test box take it to the FedEx location, send it 2nd day, bill recipient, and they will pick up the tab. Once you get the test results back forward the e-mail/info to your rep. He will then contact the legal department and they will draw up a contract for you to sign and fax back to the rep. After that it takes a few days to complete the process.

Once you are certified and ready to ship you can print out the label on your PC and have the box packed and ready to go. I drop mine off at the FedEx staffed location, others just have the truck pick them up at their house/business.
