• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Steve Jordanides

Oh and thanks to whoever gave me the negative rep. Im the bad guy for trying to contact the buyer about his product? Maybe if he thought so poorly of the product he was selling, and didnt want to ship it, maybe he should have not sold it to begin with.

But me as a consumer, i see lights for sale at a good price, so i jump on them, and now im the one at fault because i was eager to purchase them, and im the one at fault for trying to be in contact with a seller? Whatever... great feedback system...

I gave ample warning to prevent this for steve, and i appreciate the extras, but its BS that your going to call me out for putting this here. There was plenty of time for him to prevent this, but the ball was dropped, and here the thread is.

I see fault on both sides.

Steve should have contacted you stating he was having a problem finding the larger box.

And Miles needs to realize not everyone lives on the computer. You gave him a day to respond to your BOI threat. Maybe he had something going on in his life... it is possible.

You dont have to live on the computer to send a pm within a week saying "hey heres whats up"

If some of you are cool waiting weeks and weeks for stuff thats cool, but any of the transactions ive done on this site in the past were always extremely punctual from the sellers standpoint, keeping me notified every step of the way. Some people even taking time to call me personally on the telephone and ask how i would like a given snake shipped.

I expected a little information, and got none. I was used to this site being extremely efficient, and buying from a reputable seller i figured contact would be punctual as my previous dealings were. I was wrong.

As I said.. there should have been some better communication.... but also let me point out something to you.

According to his posts (see below).... he sold the lights on 9/26. By running the tracking number he posted... they were sent out on 9/30. Thats only 4 days not a week.

Lights sold on 9/26.
Here is my PM to him on 9/26
Got it. I will send you the tracking info when it goes out. I'll mark it as no signature required. Thanks.

9/28 he sends this PM
You send the lights out? Curious if you have a tracking number?

9/29 he sends this PM
You there? Have not heard from you...

9/29 he posts in the ad
Im still waiting on a responce...

9/29 he sends another PM
Well i still have not received contact from you either with a shipping number or just to keep me updated. Not really wanting to push this to the boi, but your not contacting me, whats going on?

9/30 he posts in the ad
you have multiple pms, reguarding my purchase of the lights, please respond...

9/30 he sends this PM
I see your online now, you have tracking information? Or are you going to continue to ignore my pms?

9/30 he sends yet another PM
I will be posting a negative BOI thread tommorow, as it seems your dodging me, ive seen you online atleast once in the last few days and you could have replied to any number of my PMs.

Im giving you until tommorow morning and then im posting it with screenshots of my payment to you, and also our pms, or rather all of mine sent to you.

I will also be filing a dispute with paypal to get my funds back.

Really didnt think buying lights off here would be that big of a deal...

10/1 he sends this PM
Boi threads been posted.

Then he posts the BOI thread.

Damn, I didn't think I needed to live here to make you happy.

I wasn't going to ship any of this stuff but agreed to it for you. Should have just tossed it in the trash.

Now lets go to Steve's other post..... according to this the reason it took 4 days to get them shipped was because he was looking for a much larger box because he was sending you extra's. :shrug01:

I don't get notices.
I also updated the ad the day it was sold.
The last time I was on here was the 27th.
I never got an email from you.
BTW, in addition to the items in the ad you are getting, I also added in an additional 36 inch strip light with bulb, a Zoo Med lamp stand and a programmable digital timer for the strip lights. I did this because it was a PITA to try and find a 36 inch shipping box so I ended up cutting and joining 2 different ones. Because I wasted time looking for a single box for you, I figured I would send some extra supplies to make up for the delay.

This is the email I got from Fed Ex. You should have recieved the same thing.

I figured you got this email. In the past 4 days, you have sent me 6 PM's (which I just opened), replied several times to the ad, and posted a BOI thread. WTH!

Payment completed the 24th of September See paypal ss in OP. His pm to me was on the 25th my time at 6pm, last friday a day after payment was completed, i was without contact from last friday. All of his posts are a day ahead of my time from what my pm inbox shows.

Regardless of timezones, i sent him contact, many different ways, and i waited more than 24 hours from the warning of this thread.

I gave PLENTY of warning, and asked MANY times what was going on, I DID WAIT, maybe not as long as you like, but i figured this site wasn't craigslist and would be a bit more punctual as were prior transactions.

The way I see it is this. A person should not ever post a bad guy thread on the BOI until all other avenues are exhausted. Period. This was not necessary. You may have tarnished a rep over this. How many people do you seriously believe are going to read a bad guy thread all the way through when they are researching a potential seller? Not everyone. Some simply need to see "bad guy" in bold red letters and are immediately turned off. The OP should have posted an inquiry or contacted a mod. I have done this myself a couple times and you always get results.

Steve should have contacted you but you still don't know what the hold up was. I too would have assumed my customer received the same fedex tracking email that I did because well, they always do!

This thread just seems a bit disrespectful to me.

IMHO the OP could have received the same results by posting with an Inquiry tag, rather than a Bad Guy tag and asking "has anyone done any business with Steve, because I'm having difficulties getting responses from him, and I'm growing concerned".

wonder

This is to the OP of this thread. When you buy something online you do not get it shipped in a blink of an eye. When buying something i understand money is tight but if the sellar has a perfect rep 9 times out of 10 you have no reason to worry. In my opinion if you would have made a inquiry here things would have turned out better for both you and Steve.Since you made a bad guy thread Steve now has a unneeded black eye so to speak. In the same sense you have injured your rep also. You ask how? In my opinion by you jumping the gun here you have made numerous do not deal with lists. So you understand what i mean here is others will avoid selling you something just so to avoid a headache like this happening to them. The next time think before you write something on the BOI since its here forever.

I completely agree. This thread is in bad taste and done in haste. An inquiry would have been more than sufficient.

You can make stabs at me all you want, but not contacting a buyer is considered a negative in most peoples book. Maybe i went a bit far by not making an "inquiry" thread, but this all would have been prevented if steve could have taken 5 seconds out one of the two times i knew he was online to contact me since the 25th. He had pms in his inbox from me when he logged into this site on the 27th and the 30th. And unless his email is broken, he should also have received the email warning i sent also.

I would do the same for anyone buying anything im selling, i keep them notified 100% of the time about whats happening. I still have not heard about anykind of emergency in steves case about not contacting me, ive just heard excuses about finding a big enough box.

Why would you sell something your not going to watch or pay attention to? So whatever lay blame on me, i really could care less. And to anyone who does not want to do business with someone who wants to pay promptly, i really hope you re-think your business ethics.

I have provided ample evidence that i tried to make multiple contact attempts to email and pm. Why would i contact a moderator when i thought he was sufficiently pm'd and emailed to the point where he SHOULD have known i was requesting contact.

I gave fair warning i would post this if he did not return contact, i waited, and no contact was given. If it was this important for him to keep his reputation good, then why would he blatently ignore customers pm's.

He was logged in several times since the 25th, and could have EASILY avoided this with 1 pm. So whatever find me at fault, but pardon me for not wanting to get scammed, it happens all the time from people more reputable than steve on larger sites than fauna. And with absolutely no contact from steve from the 25th i didnt feel like waiting and waiting until a resolution was not reachable.

It seems like there have been a run of threads lately calling folks out while the deal was barely finished cooking.

I wish I had got that stuff and the extra light. Steve is on a not very long list of people I would not hesitate to do business with, and I really would not have worried after a few days because Steve has been here for years as a good guy.

I thought about getting that stuff too. Dang.

My last PM to you was on the night of the 26th stating I received the payment and would get you the tracking info when it shipped.

The lights were shipped out the morning of the 30th.

Within this time period, I hadn't checked my PM's or went back to the ad since I marked it sold after sending you the PM that I recieved the $35.
I had assumed that you got the email and all was well.

Now that I go back thru everything, in the past few days, you have sent 6 PM's to me, replied to the ad twice and posted a bad guy thread. A bit over the top don't you think?

DAMN. Ever hear of patience? I shipped within a few days of letting you know I got the payment. You could have sent an email like Harald did. That I would have seen right away and could have adressed this. If I knew you hadn't gotten the Fed Ex email, I would have forwarded it to you.

Today is 5 days from the last time I spoke with you. Your lights have already shipped within these past 5 days and you have also managed to make me look like a bad guy within these past 5 days.

WTH?

And with absolutely no contact from steve from the 25th i didnt feel like waiting and waiting until a resolution was not reachable.

Look at what I posted. I contacted you on the 26th. Why do you keep insisting on saying it has been so long since you heard from me. It has been a total of 5 days from me acknowledging getting the payment and marking the lights as being sold to having a bad guy thread posted. The lights shipped within 3 days and I thought you were notified at that time.
I am not going to be at your becking call which it what it seems you want.

I would do the same for anyone buying anything im selling, i keep them notified 100% of the time about whats happening. I still have not heard about anykind of emergency in steves case about not contacting me, ive just heard excuses about finding a big enough box.

You pass over the fact he thought you were notified. I am sure Steve likes to keep everyone informed 100% of the time and I believe he felt he was doing it this time.

My question is why does it still matter when you know stuff is on the way and you now know Steve tried to keep you updated via the FedEx email. Then got busy. Why not start a Bad Guy on Fed Ex too. Maybe they didn't send the email.

I did email you, and you had pms that you did not reply to in that 5 days, and you were online this morning per the screenshot on page 1. It was your choice to ignore your pm inbox. If you thought that you made appropriate contact then im sorry, because i didnt receive any, so maybe our email is to blame.

Like i said i felt that i gave fair warning, and you ignored it. I probably should have posted an inquiry post first, whatever, guess im the dick. But you chose to ignore those pm's on fauna, if i had had one reply, just one saying you had shipped, or were looking for a bigger box or something, it would have been prevented.

To ryan- Im not asking anything more out of him? I wanted to know if it was shipped and i got my anwser, people are perpetuating this thread, not me. I am responding to questions/accusations responding to why i did what i did.

With the evidence i had i felt i was justified and i tried to make ample contact to prevent this, and got none. I made this thread and i got the information i was seeking.

100% :iagree:
Steve is one of the people i would never hesitate doing business with .
this bad guy thread was done out of being impatient .
well the Op has made my list of "Do not sell to " .

God it really sucks that there is now a bad guy thread out here on steve when he literally did nothing wrong.

To the OP

Not everyone lives on fauna, most of us have real lives and have to do things like work and take care of our families. Checking PMs is not high up on the list. Especially when he had set fedex to notify you of shipment via the email address you obviously provided to him. Have you checked your spam mail. I would not be surprised in the least if it ended up there. You drastically over reacted here. Posting a bad guy thread was premature. And to think he actually sent you extra sh!t how sad.

I'm not going to quote multiple snippets for the various things I'm commenting on. I'm sure people will figure it out.

Lopann - interesting that you think it is okay to not only call out, but place a bad guy tag on, a person with a good reputation, then make a defensive comment about getting called out yourself.

Not everybody looks at PMs as soon as they log on. Sometimes there are other considerations. Speaking for myself, if I only have a brief period to check the site, I won't even look at PMs - leaving them for when I have time to address them. I can understand the OPs feeling that he had attempted to make contact; and I can also understand if Steve didn't come just to check PMs (especially if he considered his items SOLD).

PM and post notifications - really??? I turned those things off as soon as I figured out how...and I suspect a lot of other people did as well. Nothing like getting a ton of emails because of comments like "nice snake", "lol", "I agree", etc. Suggesting that one enable those features simply because they are selling is ridiculous - think about how many messages would get overlooked/deleted simply because they blended in with the 20-30+ other messages coming from the site.

If Steve wasn't here, which I have no reason to doubt, he wouldn't see PMs. If you had his email, Lopann, a polite inquiry regarding the status probably would have prevented this mess. It took him all of - what? - an hour and 10 minutes to respond to my email telling hiim of this thread?

Ever try to come up with a suitable box + packing supplies for shipping a bunch of random items? It isn't always as easy as one might think, especially when some of the items are larger. Sure, one might argue that Steve should have been prepared to ship when he advertised....but why waste money getting that stuff if nobody wants your leftovers?

The few days that it took Steve to get the shipping together prompted him to add some extras to the box. The extras, at least the way I read it, were not the reason for the delay.

Steve - you might want to reset your time zone to GMT -5:00 (Eastern Time), lol.

For what it's worth, I've had a few customers not get the automated FedEx emails...and I've not gotten a few myself. Probably a good idea to do a manual followup.
