• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Steve Jordanides

PM and post notifications - really??? I turned those things off as soon as I figured out how...and I suspect a lot of other people did as well. Nothing like getting a ton of emails because of comments like "nice snake", "lol", "I agree", etc. Suggesting that one enable those features simply because they are selling is ridiculous - think about how many messages would get overlooked/deleted simply because they blended in with the 20-30+ other messages coming from the site.

I have been selling on here for a few years, and I have never had email notification on. The OP should have used the "Send an Email" option instead of posting in the for sale ad. If I still have an ad up and the item has been sold, I don't even look at it for any reason, there's no reason to.

Isnt there a (?) option as in neutral issue for a BOI topic? i think that may have been more appropriate here since your objective was to establish contact about a purchase rather than a Bad Guy post that kind of implies he intentionally did something very wrong. just my thoughts

:iagree: not only did you jump the gun but you were totally disrespectull in posting so quick! I have ordered from one of the BIGGEST aquatics suppliers on the net and it took 14 fourteen days till I got my item...you expect the guy selling his junk to be quicker? WOW let's not mention the fact that HE WAS...

Not if its a newegg card... so please get the f out of my thread unless you have a snake to trade, or i will get a moderator involved. Seriously i dont need questions about how this process is done.

Again, because nobody can seem to understand this DO NOT POST HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN OFFER, i get email notified each time i get a reply, and i dont need to be running back and forth to the computer for every person who does not get it.

Here is a quote from the OP from a thread she initiated in the classifieds here. I think it shows how she deals with transactions. I would never deal with this person.

I have to add my 2 cents because I have personally done business with Steve. I found him to be the utmost professional in handling the transaction. Even after reading this negative BOI thread, I would not hesitate to do business with Steve again. He's a standup guy.

Anyone with pay pal knows that it takes 2-3 days for the money to transfer from Pay pal into your checking account. I don't know about any one else, but I never ship until the funds have cleared my account. I did once and they didn't transfer due to a rescind on the buyer's part and I was SOL for the transaction. NEVER AGAIN for me.

Secondly, Miles you are a newbie to Fauna and I can honestly say the way you have handled your comments on here, I personally would never do business with you. I am appalled and dismayed that you would be such an A** about this. It's lights and you already said yourself that Steve has a great reputation which is why you bought from him in the first place. Rather than jump to the BOI with a negative, you could and should have handled this much differently.

All I know is that I will still do business with Steve and never do business with you. You have definately become the fool.

We all have our opinions, let me share mine.

First, I agree that Miles jumped the gun....from OUR perspective because we "know" Steve.

However, from Miles perspective, he only knows a "good rep" seller has his money but he still doesn't have a tracking number (come on, we know how many timed "good reps" can go bad!:shrug01:

Steve, I am sorry, but in my opinion a little pro activeness could have gone a long way. I always email my customers the tracking number and put their email down to get notification when the package is shipped (just cover both bases).

This is not a situation worthy of a defense, a simple "sorry" and move on....you got Baptized, and we all learned not to depend on the FedEx system of notification. Yes a BG thread sucks but it's not the end of the world.

Lucille, I agree the OP certainly showed a lack of customer service with his response, but I have written something quite similar on a bad day. I would certainly give him a chance seeing as how he seems to realize the importance of follow up and follow through....but that's just me.

Yes, there are two other categories besides "good guy" and "bad guy". There is "inquiry" and "info". Either of those would have been plenty sufficient for the OP to get their concerns addressed.

Quoted from the boi rules which i read before posting this thread.

They are as follows:

* - someone or some business that likely should be avoided. Provide FACTS supporting this opinion. Proof is not needed, but will certainly help support your claim.
* - someone or some business that you are recommending. Reasons are not required, but an example of your experience would be helpful.
* - you are looking for information on the listed person or business. Perhaps you are considering doing business with them and would like some feedback.
* - this can be information of any sort about the person or business. Not necessarily good nor bad, could be something along the line of your hearing they got in a shipment of something of interest recently.
Out of all 4 the bg thread was the most appropriate to choose as had already done business with steve and at the time that i didnt hear from him it was a negative expierence, the transaction was already in the works, so an information thread at the time seemed out of the questions, i guess it was not. I have contacted steve via pm, and things are strait.

I will not publicly appologize because the only person who deserves an appology is steve, not you. I will not appologize to appease the BOI nazis.

I posted this thread after reading YOUR forum rules, and choosing the most appropriate choice and making an educated descision. With the knowledge i had at the time, i thought he was dodging me, if this had been the case i would have been justified, and that is what this thread found out.

Call me a noobie if you like but i have done many transactions over forums, and have feedback outside of this site from people with a much higher "post count" than anyone here, because that seems to matter so much.

I posted ample evidence to support my side of the story, and deb is correct, you all may know steve, but i didnt. How was i suppost to know he wasnt just some other scammer on the internet, even with a feedback as good as his people still get scammed, i have before.

You people make me out to be somekind of abomination for posting this thread, i chose the best choice for my situation, and if he had been some peon member like myself im sure you guys would be ripping him a new xxS hole right now instead of me. If he had been a scammer my goal would have been accomplished and i would have been justified. This was not the case and i did appologize to steve about it via pm which its contents are none of your business. But all of you in here bashing me just to bash, go get a life.

the choice in bold and highlighted is the coarse you should have chosen . cause you yourself said you knew he had a good rep and according to the things that were posted by Steve (dates , tracking info and so forth ) he did everything he was supposed to do , WHICH DID NOT WARRANT a BG thread ... only fault i can see from all this from Steve was maybe not following up to make sure you got the fed-ex email .. other then that he conducted a normal transaction .. just because it didnt happen as fast as you wanted it to or you didnt get it as fast as you wanted, you then made the choice to post a BG thread about him .. when you knew yourself by the post you just placed and i quoted above, that you could have used another option to obtain your objective as you claim this post was for which was to get him to respond back to you ...People use that option all the time when they feel they either need to get contact with a seller or to inform others of a situation that didnt warrant a BG thread but needed to be said ...

like i said before you definitely earned the Do Not Sell to list from me as im 100% is the same for quite a few others on here ..

Well whatever, the damage is done. Keep pouring gas on the fire because it seems thats what your here for. I personally dont care what you think, at all. You've made it clear its your desire to "banish my hope for buying things" so good for you, you can use a computer.

If you would unblock your mighty ego you would see that prior to this thread steve gave me nothing, even though he thought he did. And i saw him online a few times since i had started pming him, I felt like the transaction was heading in a negative way because i had not received contact (which i know now was unintentional).

If he had been intentionally dodging me it would have been a completely justified BG thread, so say what you want but i picked the best option for my situation out of those 4 choices... I didnt want information on a shipement he got in... i wanted to know why he was not responding to our transaction pm's. Maybe you should have a moderator re-write the crappy description of the "grey area" boi threads, because i read it, and this is what i chose, and now im being crucified for it.

So keep pouring the gas and label me this fascist pig or whatever, i really dont care. All your proving is that this entire feedback system is bias. I guess everyone with as good of a rep as steve should just be immune to the boi.

Like i said, things are strait between steve and i now, so anything in addition is just perpetuation of this thread, keeping it near the top of the list in the BOI. Some of you think that this thread being here will tarnish his rep, if thats so why the hell are you keeping it alive? All the evidence is on the table and you decide to label me the enemy, whatever.

This statement you made in bold above . i guess you didnt read very well
the option says :

* - this can be information of any sort about the person or business. Not necessarily good nor bad, could be something along the line of your hearing they got in a shipment of something of interest recently.

that statement/option in quote above that's highlighted and underlined is AN EXAMPLE of what could be the reason for using that option .
thats not stating the guideline for that option , ITS JUST AN EXAMPLE ..

your taking that example and using it as a literal guideline . which its not.
and because of that you chose poorly and its not that Steve's immune to the BOI on why you getting hammered for it , its because Steve's a Good Guy to deal with and your posting a BG post is BS ..when you clearly had other options ..

I posted it for resolution, which i got. I see now it was not the correct avenue, but it did accomplish my goal to get a response, thats why this was posted.

it did accomplish my goal to get a response, thats why this was posted.

An expensive response for you. What with the post from the other thread I posted, and your behavior here, you may have gotten what you wanted but there are many here who will now steer clear of you and for good reason.

I haven't personally done business with Steve Jordanides we have talked on occasion I was having some troubles with Bp's I posted a thread looking for help He emailed me and went above what most sellers would with offering help and Ideas That and reading several of his posts/threads here on Fauna Put him in BUY FROM LIST WITHOUT A DOUBT The feedback rating I pay attention to But not as much as ones character or their Business ethics I mean we have some reputable people on here with no or little feedback Does that make them Bad Guys of the Industry? Anyway Back on topic
Miles Yohai IMHO I belive an Inquiry BOI post would have played ouy much better in this situation for a few reasons

Steve A stand up guy IMO wouldnt have this Bg Thread
You more than likely would have gotten the same results without the negative side effects of posting a Bad Guy Post in the BOI
the negative being the aftermath of jumping the gun and posting a Bad Guy thread
In where there other options to explore

IM glad you Steve are on the same page now and everything is done I personally dont see in where a public apology is needed as long as you did apologize to Steve as he is the one you did the damage to not the rest of us. However I personally do see fit Maybe a post on how there was a small miscommunication (Which is what I belive is what happened in this situation) But everything is ok or maybe even include how he through in extras at no cost?
How was the packaging of the merchandise? How was the condition of the merchandise?
Would you (besides the miscommunication error) would you do business with Steve Again?

Just my 2 cents for whats it worth

I still have not received anything so i don't know how the merch is yet, if its what was in the pictures and its not broken it will be 100% fine though, its what i ordered. And yes i would, but i doubt he will.

An explanatory post on how there was a miscommunication is not needed. If people read the thread, they will see that steve thought he was in contact, the channels he used didnt work to get contact to me, so i thought i was in the dark. I thought i was being intentionally ignored, i wasnt.

If people want to hold a grudge towards me thats fine, but the reason you guys provide information to the buyer is so something like this does not happen, or atleast i would hope you would all try to make an effort to contact someone wanting to provide your business with revenue.

Someone said previously that when you buy stuff online it takes alot of time, i find that statement bs. I buy online because i dont like going to stores and its usually more efficient, and cheaper. Generally online stores are a day or two to process, and then they ship, and you get a bunch of conformation emails (from paypal, the seller site, and the shipper).

Any time previously i have purchased online off forums, its been the same way, a few days of negoating price or where to ship, then once its shipped they immediately (and i mean every single transaction ive done over the past 5 years) provide a tracking number. I did not receive this, so i panicked.

The bg thread was a bad idea (I GET IT, SO YOU PEOPLE CAN STOP SAYING IT) but it cannot be removed. I read the rules and made my choice based literally or not on the guidelines that were given.

Wow, this thread has gotten way out of control. How dumb.

here's the tracking info

http://www.fedex.com/Tracking?language=english&cntry_code=us&tracknumbers=523759915000006

It's in transit.

Now the OP shouldnt have made this a bad guy thread- but what's done is done. People make mistakes just as SPJ made a mistake of not following up with his customer.

hopefully SPJ will personally let his customers know in the future that their package has been shipped.

Hopefully the OP knows this should have been an info thread, instead of a bad guy one.

I dont see why this thread should continue any further unless there's an issue once the OP receives his items.

But of course someone will chime in with their opinions :)

Wow i dont know where you buy from , but 75% of the sites i purchase from i get an automated email letting me know i made my order . and then 3 days later (after processing order) i finally get a email with my tracking info (also automated) if im lucky .. some places dont even bother sending out tracking info on packages . . if your getting your stuff as quick as you say then you must be paying for that extra fast shipping .
cause even the average Ebay purchase takes least 5-8 days before getting an item (depending on distance ) and your totally lucky if a seller from there lets you know anything about your package . and you stated it very perfect

I did not receive this, so i panicked.
and because you did panic , you gave a good guy a permanent BG post ( regardless if it actually does affect him or not )

and this is why your getting the flack ,because instead of doing this with a level head you posted under a panic state .
