In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Steve Markevich/ Serpent's Den

One problem I have with all this is the comments about the landlord "stealing" Steve's snakes. Commercial leases usually have clauses on what the procedure is when the rent falls behind and it often precludes the removal of property. I believe you'll find that he was well within his rights to hold Steve's property as hostage for the lease payments. If Steve removed his property and refused to repay the back rent there would be little recourse for the landlord. Unfortunately this involved live animals. The blame for what happened falls squarely in Steve's lap IMO. He has a long list of excuses for both him and his girlfriend but he made his own bed.
There are posters, whose opinions I respect, that have vouched for Steve. However, going strictly by this thread, including Steve's posts, I wouldn't consider doing business with him.

BTW- I don't believe you are required to submit an eviction notice with commercial property. It's not your primary residence. I believe whatever the lease states goes. So if it says 90 days, it's 90 days, and the owner can lock the doors. I am not sure on this though. Possibly someone with a legal background can correct me.

Since he won't post a timeline (or does not understand what that is) I think it's safe to say at this point, that Steve effed up, and lost his business. That does not NECESSARILY make him a a bad guy.

Would I loan him 500 bucks? Not.

You're right Kevin. He hasn't acceped any responsibility for this mess. If he did then I would be the first to say I appreciate his honesty. I like Steve and never had anything bad to say about his business practices. It's just that things happen and we all need to live up to it.

That might be correct. All the properties I dealt with were residential.

The high end animals were not left to die. Now, I'm not saying that high end animals deserve better treatment, just that SOMEONE made sure they didn't die there, but didn't take the rest. Someone went out of their way to protect investment animals, but left the others to whatever conditions they met later. You can't fault the police for that.

Dave... I can tell you this much.... if that ever happened to me..... the first to get relocated WOULD BE my high end stuff.... both myself... and my friend that helps me would see to that.... then we would move the lower end stuff out.

And maybe his GF couldnt get the lower end animals out before problems arose.

Honestly.... would you leave the high end animals there... probably knowing that the landlord may try something. Nope you wouldnt.

The reasoning behind this..... (hypothetically speaking) maybe the landlord took half his animals (the ones he didnt get out immeditely). Now all he is left with is what he was able to save before that time.

With those paramaters... would you rather have the lower end animals and try to make some money with those to pay off debts..... or would you rather have the higher end animals in your possession to help pay off debts with.

Its basic business sense.... it takes alot of corns to make what an albino ball will bring in.... and an albino ball is on the low end of the morphs scale.

**note** the above was used as an example and Im not saying he had corns or balls.

LOL. Steve, I like my job a whole lot and many could attest to that or else I would have been with the company for 14 years. I'm assuming you think I'm in the pet trade. lol I guess your business sense isn't all that good or your just not making enought money to pay your bills. Not to worry about your strange conspiracy theories because I know it's just the coke talking. :shootfoot

Steve I never assumed you were in the pet trade, you and I know you wouldn't last.
I may not be doing all that good but I'm still in business for over 20 years.
I was waiting for you to bring up that I done drugs in the past and that was another reason why I moved out from NJ. Like I said you only know LITTLE about me and for your information I don't drink, do drugs or even smoke...yup I'm sober so drink to that why don't you...lol

Agreed. You keep implying that you know more about this than has been told. So, you either need to do it, or get off the pot.

I never intended to stay in the trade or I would never have continued my education. I'm a hobbyist, the guys who keep you in business. With that out of the way I'm glad to hear that you've been clean and I'm sincere about that. I guess I'm just a little hard on people for that since I never drank or touched drugs. If I'm missing anything here regarding your situation then I apologise. As I said in my earlier post if I can help you in any way write me. We may have some difference of opinions but you're not a bad guy. If mistakes were made by you or the authorities then it needs to be fixed.

So, in other words, you don't have any hard facts to contribute?

Steve like I said I'm not looking for people to sympathize me and I don’t understand why you always attack me the way you do, I may have my problems and I'm sure I'm not alone when it comes to financial problems and most businesses in general don't stay in business as long as I have and I'm not out of business I'm just suffering finaciially and soon everone will be with this bailout because it's going to get MUCH WORSE and I tried to anounce that on the Law Forums on KS back when which you still do not believe and soon we will be the North American Union and the US dollar will be worthless as we head towards the one world government but that's a whole other topic but you can research it on youtube or google.

Getting back to the topic:
This all happened in April and I’ve been doing my best to keep my head above water and I was waiting on many clutches of babies so I could raise the money to pay off my debts.

My main point is my landlord and authorities acted outside the boundaries of the law. My losses far outweigh what I owed the landlord and Lehighton Borough and they had other legal means to handle what I owed rather than unlawfully removing my property under false pretenses.

Steve W, I think you really need to step away from this thread as you have contributed nothing but gossip and comments that are not pertaining to what is currently going on in this thread. With one hand you offer Steve M your help, while with the other hand you smack him across the face.

This is all essentially at a standstill until Chris Foley provides physical proof that he was legally authorized to sell Steve M's animals, the court case involving the animal abuse charges is ruled upon and Steve M's lawsuit against his previous landlord is completed.

Understood. Good luck with straightening this problem out. I've known you a long time and I'm not out to get you. I would never tell anyone to not do business with you because it's always been your strong point in my opinion. Personally I don't know why this thread was started here because they list you as a "Bad Guy" and I thought it should have to do with business dealings and not personal issues. Let me know how things go in private if you wish.

blah blah blah. Did you say something?

In cases involving dogs confiscated (owners in jail), they are cared for by a facility(chosen by the courts normally) that will be compensated. When the animals' fate is decided, then the facility is paid for caring for the animals. If the case is dropped against the owner, then the court pays for the care, if the case is upheld, the owner pays for the care OR the court can award the animals to the facility(or animals AND care costs).
In any case, the facility caring for the reptiles should be compensated for caring for the animals... unless some other arrangement was made, being as these are not dogs, they are specialized care species, and venomous species(from the ads stated).
I dunno what he was in jail for, when it all went down, my only contribution is to how animals and courts and care while fates are decided goes down.
I hope all the surviving animals go into good care. None of this was their fault.

I'm sure it will be public information on the outcome I don't know how hard it will be to beat a corrupt system.
