In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Steven Beckerman - E2MacPets ....not looking good

I received notice from Paypal of a pending refund from Steven. I appreciate that he took care of this quickly and I consider the situation resolved.
Thanks for everyone's input,

Fantastic! Thats definately a step above and beyond the call of duty knowing his funds from an active dispute are in limbo... I'm glad everything worked out!

GREAT! That makes two positive thread resolutions and one Bozo getting exposed and banned all in one day! Anyone that says that the BOI does not work needs to examine the posts made today. The BOI does work, and I am glad to have it around.

The status of my claim now says "refund pending" and it also states that the case will be closed when the refund clears Steve's account.

Status Details:
The seller has initiated a refund. Please allow up to 7 days for the refund to be processed. We will notify you when the refund is complete.
This case will be closed once the refund is processed.

So hopefully Steve's other funds shouldn't be affected.

Exactly!!

Fired up the pc this morning and was unbelievably suprised, and in a good way, by this conclusion ! Steve has shown truly good form and a great professional take on a potentially negative situation...congrats, sir !

Awesome, a cool headed approach to a problem and a professional response leading to resolution...Chris, Steve and Mark, way to go!

I've never done business with Steve...but reading his posts and seeing his contributions...I would never have thought of him as a bad guy...
After reading this thread I would never hesitate to do business with him in the future...he has definitely proven himself...and then some.

Thumbs up to Steve for resolving the issue that was brought up. It is also really great that he went above and beyond what was called for by donating 5% of his sales to Fauna. Even if the 5% is minimal ($30 or so per sale), it still adds up and makes a difference, and surely Steve has donated a decent amount of his sales proceeds to the site from sales made to Marcia and others.

Thank you, Kelli. But my sales of AP cages are minimal, despite my efforts to promote buying from me to support FaunaClassifieds. I have been running the 5% off plus 5% donated to FC promotion for over a year now and according to my paypal history for the last 16 months I have only sold to 4 customers, 3 of which were not through this site and the 1 that was inquired about a different promotion.

So unfortunately no matter my intentions, I do not deserve praise for a promotion that never came to anything....

Well, if that is the case I apologize for bringing it up and I was misinformed. Regardless of sales made or not, the 5% donation was a good idea.

5% Fauna Donation

I must be the one from the FC promotion, and I thought Steven would apply the 5% from my sale to Fauna. Steven did give me a discount on my racks, and told me they would be at his own cost which is why he asked me to the 3% PayPal fee so he wouldn't have any out-of-pocket expenses... which I gladly did. At any rate, one of the reasons I wanted to go through E2Mac was because Steven was a Fauna member and was running the special... which is a fantastic way to support Fauna Classifieds!!!

Steven, are you still a 'rep' for them? Should I order through you? Thanks for the info...

Marcia, my sale to you ended up being at a greater discount, in fact I sold to you at my cost. If you felt I should have donated an additional 5% and take a loss on the sale, I'm sorry that was never conveyed and I hope 'better late than never' applies here- just say the word.

steven the way you convey it in your message, is marcia was part of the promotion which donated %5 to fauna regardless of the price you gave them to her for. as far as the pay pal fee you know as well as i do that is against there TOS.... if you felt that would be an out of pocket expense you should have said that you would only except a money order or chashiers check

Robin I would disagree, I offered her the 5/5 promotion, that's a set promotion, and then later in our dealings I offered her a better discount stating that I was selling to her at my cost (which I explained would include my operating costs, the paypal fee- I spelled out how I was forming the price that I would be quoting her, which I felt was the honest way of doing it)

Since I was offering her a discount down to my cost, which was a larger discount than the combined 10% of the 5/5 deal, I would assume it to be understood that by accepting that deal you are aware there is no profit from the sale to be donated.

The deal was that you are accepting that part of the discount I am offering to you is being donated to fauna.
The idea is that you wouldn't make a purchase from me because "this guy donates to fauna," instead the idea is that when making a purchase from me you would think "in doing this i'm making a donation to fauna"

And no Marcia, you and I have known eachother from well before fauna. Your knowledge of my status as an AP affiliate came before I started advertising on fauna.

The only sale I got that was directly from fauna (not counting chris who has been refunded his money in full and is not my sale any longer) was Greg Riso who responded to a promotion that I ran in January 05 where I offered a full 10% discount on racks including tubs. That is the promotion he asked for, that is the promotion he recieved.

5% special

Steven, to re-state my previous post, one of the reasons I went through you to purchase my A/P racks was because you are an active Fauna member, and were offering the special. I am extremely happy with my racks and the service I received from you, and I feel I got a very good deal with the discount you gave me.

Since you said you sold me the racks at your cost, then there would be no profit for the 5% donation to Fauna to come from, right? I don't know what kind of arrangement you made with Rich Z in regard to the promotion you were having, so I suppose any issues along those lines would be between you two.

Since it is pretty obvious that there is some confusion about the donation promotion that Steven ran for a while here, and it actually never bore fruit as far as this site is concerned, I think that in the future this may not be a wise path for sellers to travel. As can be seen, there is too much risk of misunderstandings becoming situations where reputations will suffer because of assumptions being made but not voiced.

There are so many other ways sellers can support this site, such as membership plans, sponsorships, webhosting, auction donations, banner advertising, and enhanced ads in the classifieds section, that it is probably safer to avoid using such methods as Steven employed during that period to promote his sales.

Because of requests I have received from nonmembers we just lifted the membership restrictions to the Fauna Fund which means that anyone can list and bid.
This is a GREAT way to support Fauna and advertise your business for a week as folks check out your donated items, as well!!!!

That is very nice, Bruce; but it has nothing at all to do with the fact that there was some misapprehension about a donation which was supposed to be made to Fauna after purchase by the seller.
