    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i purchased a brick of expandable coconut fiber that i plan on using in the humid hide, but i won't need all of it. the package made it sound like i should make the whole brick at once rather than breaking off a chunk, so that's what i did and now have plenty of extra. does anyone know if it's ok to store it for use later on and if so, would a ziplock bag be ok?

I always make a load of coir in a 5 gallon bucket. I use what I need at the moment, reseal the bucket and I have moist bedding ready for later use. You can get a 5 gallon bucket (new & unused) at Lowe's or Home Depot for about $4 with a lid. Makes things easy!

I use a bucket too, its a 2.5 gallon from dishwasher detergent, after the bucket was empty I ran it threw the diswaher a few times to make sure there was no residue left in it and mix it up in there, leave a little scooper thing in the bucket and just use what I need and seal it back up.

I use bags. After I’ve expanded it and used what I need I let it dry and put it in bags to store. When I need more I get it out, wet it and it’s ready to go.

Ditto, I think its better to let it dry out before you cover and store it. I once got the moist unused coir molded in an air tight container...
