    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am breeding a couple females this year with my son. I am looking to pick up a few more females soon with the intent to bring them up to size/1500 grams over the course of the year. How big should I expect a current 600, 900 or 1100 gram female to get in a year on a steady weekly diet of small rats?

The price is right vs what a breeder size animal would run me next year. Will they be up to weight by this time next year?

The 900 and 1100 gram females will probably be up to weight next year. The 600 gram female may not be. In my experience, some snakes will spontaneously go off feed and not reach breeding size for a couple of years. It's rather difficult to predict. I have had girls that eat like hogs and then one morning decide to be finicky and not eat reliably for several months. I have one female right now that's three years old and only 800 grams because she became finicky. I'm in no rush though, so aside from a minor irritation, I'm okay with her taking her time. Ball pythons can live to be around 20 years old and can produce for most of those years, so it's not like I won't ever be able to breed her. Some girls just never get big either. I've got a 6-year-old female that never exceeds 1700 grams, but she lays small clutches rather reliably from year to year.

By next year a breeder female could see a huge price drop depending on the morph. Which one are you looking at? are you looking at?

The 900 & 1100 gram females should be up to size but the 600 gram one might/ probably will hit that wall moment. It usually happens between 800-1000 grams when they decidr they just dont want to eat. Its fustrating but that is how it goes. Buying a female that is already up to size may not actually breed for you that year. Depending on the time of the year you get her and depending on how she transitions into your collection. Some do just fine others dont...
