In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

figured i would ask the real question...since its already out there. for the record... i used to use vitasand as a substrate for my breeding and laying cages but now i use paper towels only. the only negative thing i found with this is meal worms tend to escape between the layers of paper towel making more difficult for the geckos to find them.

I like stainless steel, it has such a cozy feel for my leo's
(Makes me feel warm & fuzzy all over)

I appreciate the topic . . .

. . . but I don't want to turn this into a KS deal. This has been beat to death. I use paper towels because I'm lazy . . .

Once I clear out a few geckos - I will use Calci Sand on the others - and it will glow and I will have a black light on them because it looks cool.

And they will live for another 20 years.

agreed. i figured this could serve as reference to kill the question all together. if anything, it shows that there is no ONE answer to this question and gives newcomers to leopard geckos a guage to go by in choosing thier own substrate.

EDIT= "if anything is shows..." to "if anything, it shows..."

OK, OK!

After long and hard studies, checking literaly thousands of threads & posts. After consulting with the top breeders in the world, and traveling to Afganistan and checking out what substrate Osama use's. Hundreds and Hundreds of tedious, labor intinsive hours. And with my own personal experiance of trying to live on each "test" material! ( thats right one week on each type, I still have sand in places I won't mention) I have come to the conclution that this is the very best solution for this huge problem!

Thanks, but...

Im curently trying out eucaliptus bark and I have another five days till I can leave.

EDIT: Did you know Rubbermaid has human size clear plastic containers? Well there not really clear, I can barely see out of mine...is it supposed to be so hot and humid in here?

Overton...i think trying to see things from the geckos perspective has driven you over the edge...LOL!

hopefully you remembered to drill holes in the box before climbing in and closing the lid.

<---paper towels here. They are the easiest and most cost effective, plus you dont have to worry about impactions and increased parasite problems with sand.

I voted for paper towels just because I don't want to take any risks when it comes to impaction of other substrates. I know there are many leos that have lived many healthy years on other substrates, but I just want to be on the safe side!

It's also easier for me to keep clean!

I agree, paper towels is best and safest. I dont gamble with my leos lifes. Not to be rude, but did you happen to see the date on this topic?, its from 04.

The first few posts were damn funny though. I vote paper towels too, that is also the best choice IMO.
