Hydrosaurus Enthusiast!
I realize now it has just been over two years since my original inquiry for pure lineages of Philippine sailfin dragons and I'd first like to extend my thanks to those who reached out and helped me acquire the needed bloodlines I was looking for. It has been a big goal of mine since reading Scott's care guide in REPTILES Magazine to keep pure lines of H. pustulatus around, especially with many other keepers mislabelling hybrids as "pure" or others selling "pure" Philippine sailfin lizards with no credible proof of captive bred lineage (the carpet python and chondro people really were ahead of their time...)
After a first year of infertile eggs and getting females to cycle, I was finally able to get some success with captive reproduction of this species!
For 2025 a total of 6 clutches have hatched from three different females, all of credible lineage.
I have attached one of my lineage charts to show the depth of the bloodlines (I have begun doing this for every pairing that yields hatchlings)
I am hopeful I can reproduce from these females with a different male for 2026.
I figured I'd post some pics of the male, produced by John Steele of Jay's Arboreals in 2017, as well as the main "stellar" female produced by Scott Corning (sailfindragon.com) in October of 2019.
Thanks everyone for the support and enjoy checking out the pics of pustulatus! I'm quite biased, but as far as color, rarity, and herpetocultural significance goes, this has to be the best species of sailfin dragon to keep (though I do love the black and gold of my H. celebensis too!)
Thanks for reading, if you're interested in acquiring a sailfin. Feel free to message me on Fauna, email me, or reach out on any of my social pages (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) at "@alexsagamids"
