    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Suggestions on a rack system

Hi all,
I have decided to build a rack system. here is what I have and I can use some suggestions for what to do and not to do. I bought a piece of furniture at a garage sale that is perfect for this. I am gutting out the inside and have bought plywood that I stained (only the top of the wood). I bought 5 large steralite containers and 7 small ones. They are not the same hight so I have to have different size shelves. any suggestions?
Also, I am going to a show on Sat. to pick up some Heating strips. Can I put these on wood? How should I make sure that the temperature is controlled?

from my own experince, my suggestion is to make sure you get a thermistat....It comes with a probe and it will help you keep the temps the way you would like them. At my pet store, they sell heat rope. So far I think it works just as well. I put my heating coming from the back of the rack system, but as for snakes that need belly heating, heat tape is the best idea. I use 28qt rubbermaid containers, and I have a Helix therm. You can find Helix therms at reptile shows and also on line. I got mine at the Hamburg Reptile show. I'm plainning on picking up another one there this weekend. Need it for the incubator we built.

I would use a Johnsons thermostat(and not because I sell them) I have foundthem to be the best bang for the buck. I have had the rancos and the helix and both big apples...JMHO
