In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

#1 No, you will not get any normals when breeding a Sunglow to an Albino.

#2 You are correct and a Supersunglow is an albino Supersalmon(or Superhypo if you prefer), so it is possible.

Alex is correct.
A sunglow is an albino also. Albino x albino = lots of albinos. ;) But not really recommended.

The other combo also would be an albino x albino breeding, they just both have the hypo gene as well. It would produce all sunglows, (in theory) with some being super or double dose.

If the sunglows that you are breeding are not supers, then you will have 25% albino and 75% sunglow. The sunglows will then be 33% possible supers. If one of the breeders is a super then all will be sunglows and 50% possible super.
AlbinoXsunglow will produce 50/50. If the sunglow is a super (super hypo) then all will be sunglows. Good luck!

It would work the same as a het albino x het albino, only the hets are visual.
Say, for instance, H=hypo and N= normal. HN x HN would give 25% HH, 50% HN, and 25% NN. If one was a super then all would be hypo and half would be supers.

I gotta take an aspirin now, lol.

I dont think thats quite how it works. Hypomelanism is a co-dominant gene. If you had hypo x hypo you would end up with ALL hypo with 50%(ish) being SUPER (dominant) hypos. No normals.

If you hypo x normal you'd end up with 50%(ish) hypos, 50% normals

So for the original question of sunglow x albino. The albino gene is recessive. But since bothe parents are homozygous (visual) for albino you will have all albinos 50% of with will be sunglows.

None of this is exact by he way and the actual results can vary.

By the way albino x albino breeding is not a real good idea. Its been known to produce defects.

Forgot the other question.

Breeding sunglow x sunglow will give you ALL sunglows, 50% of with will be super (dominant).

And by the way Rich, you had it right.

actually i beleive using the sqares you would get a quarter normal from hypo to hypo

--- H -- N

H - HH HN

N - HN NN
because normal hypos have a normal gene in them then there is a quarter chance of getting a normal with each snake ,50 percent chance normal hypo and a quarter super

sorry bud but its been discussed here before and a hypo is not a true codominant gene
because the super form of hypo is not visual different than the normal hypo.
A version of a true codominant gene would be the motely .
because when you create a super motely you get a distinctly different looking snake
im sure with some in depth reading or experience in this matter you will find it to be true
no insult implied but it has already been discussed here and explained by an experienced genetics guy
sorry bud, i hate proving you wrong but i wouldn't want you to be disapointed when you get a normal in your hypo +hypo breeding
Eric

Well we'll just have to agree to disagree

With all due respect, if you already know the answer, why do you ask the question?

i had asked the question to prove a buddy wrong
sorry i should have said that in the first place
but i already knew the asnwer

and good luck with your breeding ,but i would bank on your info if i were you
just a little advice
denial aint just a river in egypt
lol
sorry i shouldnt joke

Out of pure curiousity, do you have a link to the discussion where this "experienced geneticist" was?

I'd like to see where your getting your conclusions...and arragance for that matter.

sorry if i sounded bad but
the info is in here in the discussion forum
so if you are going to resort to name calling find it yourself or maybe when the moderators read this they will step in and point you in the right direction
i was just trying to help bud
Eric

There are ways to get your point across without being ass about it, and thats not on one them.

Like I said we'll have to agree to disagree......

ok here is the thread ,this should help(red pastel hypo anyone heard of one)
and im sure if you write this forum moderator laura cox she will give you the link to the genetics page since she helped in researching and writing it along with alot of other highly respected people

contacting will help you out
talk to you later bud
Eric

Thats all I was asking for. Like I said, I know a good amount about the subject, but not everything. And if theres something out there being discussed, Id like to read it and form my own conclusions.

And the name is Paul....not Bud.
