I have spread the knowledge of what I have witnessed with my own 2 eyes as I live 30 minutes from this guy, and now my purpose is done! Other then being heckled for buying from him ONCE because I did not know better at the time. I feel great! And ready to face a new day.

Nothing makes not taking care of your stock ok. I'm just saying, if that bothered her so much I would never suggest going to a warehouse. And the impluse buy wasn't directed at you per say but thanks for responding.

Warehouses loose a lot of animals and keep them in not so good conditions but these are some of the people supplying pet stores and pet stores is where a lot of buyers get their stuff from, it's a circle of chain of events.

And Yep, your right Aaron, this isn't a game as this affects someone's sales, and such and never should be anything anyone says be lied about, because it might affect how they feed their family. Just like with my friends who live in AL, this is how they make their living...and saying things to hurt someone isn't right, not saying these ladies are doing so, just making a over all general point on the entire BOI.

I do wonder about your motive in this thread Sonnie, because if this is true, then why do I not see you interrogating every poster in BOI about their grievances with sellers? This thread was started by the OP to get actual experiences with the seller in question, so why do you feel compelled to defend this particular seller so vehemently? Do you have a good experience that you would like to share? If so, do so by all means!

I am with you Aaron! I have presented my honest opinion here based on my observation as a buyer, and I stand by my advice not to buy from this seller. End of story.

I've talked with Nate about different animals and he is a honest good guy. I've never been to his house, but...it seemed someone took this more as a joke and was trying to see the basis of such an accussion. Cause anything you post on the BOI, isn't a joke or should never been taken so.

I was at Nate's house yesterday, and took pictures. I have no idea what people are talking about when they say his animals are kept in poor conditions. None of the cages were crowded. Everyone had clean water, was well fed and healthy, and most of them even had live plants or fully planted tanks. He left me alone with my camera. Here's what I have.

I have done business with Nate a few times, and have 100% confidence in him. Aslways helpful and available and encourage anyone interested in purchasing from him to do so. Never once have I had any problem at all. In response to the Collared lizard, these animals can be VERY AGGRESSIVE, and any injury is possible when two are placed in close proximity. A gravid female of this species will occasionally have a poor batch of eggs, and is not always due to poor supplementation.

It may have happened in transport, or prior to shipping, and swelling or infections don't happen automatically. Sometimes it takes time after an injury for some signs and symptoms to be present. At any rate, she was refunded, and this is just an unfourtunate event that does happen from time to time. I believe it is unfair to have such an uproar over something like this. Everyone in this business has had one thing or another go wrong with an animal, shipment, or payment coming in or being recieved. It doens't make someone a "Bad Guy" because of it. We'd all be lying if any of us said "Everything I do is perfect, and bad things NEVER happen."

I see nothing in those postings that shows any evidence of poaching. Who poached what? When did it happen? You may disagree with the wild collection of specimens for sale, or any other purpose, but peoples disagreement with an activity does not make it illegal. What IS illegal, however, is to make an incorrect statement, for example, that an individual is guilty of a crime as a matter of fact, when no conviction has been handed down. Most people call it a lie, the courts call it Libel. He may or may not have purchased specimens from me, are you calling ME a poacher? Please explain.

Swanee was advertising cash for wild-caught amphibians before his first account was banned. Since you appear to be a legal scholar, take a look at the list of prohibited species in the state of Washington and see how heavy it is on amphibians, particularly salamanders. While you are at it, please find a tortoise species native to the U.S. that is legal to take from the wild for the purpose of resale, because Swanee was looking for them too.

I can't seem to recall labeling you a poacher. I only stated that it appeared Swanee was attempting to collect animals that are most likely protected in his home state for the purpose of collecting revenue.

Fair enough. I think I understand what you're getting at now, and perhaps I had the wrong idea. But appearances don't necasarily warant what you've implied. For example, In NV, AZ, NM, and CA, Gila monsters are protected and cannot be wild collected. However, I can legally purchase them from a number of breeders, in Colorado for example, and re-sell them.
That's likely what's meant to happen in these kind of scenarios. If something is being taken illegally, it's not the buyer who breaks the law, it's the person who illegally takes and sells the animals. In the posting where he inquires to purchase WC species, he does specify legaly WC. Not everyone knows whats legal to collect or not from state to state, and it is ALWAYS the SELLERS responsibility to follow the law.

Previous negative threads, attempts to "sell-out" local wc animals and a complete lack of response to this thread says more about the seller than anyone could counter with a "good guy" label. He's definitely on my do not buy from list...

Everyone reading this should use thier best judgment and make a decision based on what information and advice we give them, that's what the forum is for. Positive or negative feedback, I appreciate everyone who takes the time to report their experiences and help the herp community out in general, and myself quite often.
I'll end my part of the discussion with this:
I, personally, have had only positive experiences with nate, and have 100% confidence in him, but like I said, everyone makes their own choices, and I hope our arguing back and forth has helped someone, even if only a little.

If it's illegal to collect/own than both buyer and seller are guilty. Try to run you little theory past a F&W officer and see how well that goes.

That does not exclude the buyer from knowing their local laws. They also are ALWAYS RESPONSIBLE for knowing the law. Again you prove you know nothing about even the fundamentals of law...

If you represent something as legally collected or CB and it's not, and I can legally own it and purchase it, then it was the seller who broke the law. Of course buying something that is illegal in your state is illegal. Refer back to the Gila monster example. You don't seem like an idiot so maybe I'm not explaining things as well as I thought I was. At any rate, I'm right, you're confused, and WE keep bumping the thread. I'm not the only one posting here now am i?
And by the way, It's hurting my reputation alot more than it's helping his, but I stand by what I've said.
And about getting all pissy about WC animals, you can preach captive bred all you want, but there will ALWAYS be animals collected from the wild. You've probably bought more than a few and you don't even know it.
