Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Switzer Bad to Deal with you Tell ME ?

Psycho-saint said:
That's nice and I am happy for you but they so far aren't scoring to well in my book do to the fact that they have shipped out sick animals before. The odd part of this whole problem is the member of thetegu.com forms Merm had bought a tegu after Jim Rich had purchased his I find it odd that Merm did not get a new tegu but yet the same one shipped withing a day or so of it returning. The question I have to ask Switzer reptiles is why they were in such a hurry to get rid of that tegu.Did they realize the fact that it was going to be a money sink. That is just bad business no matter which way you look at it and the fact that Jim STILL has not gotten his refund is disgusting. So all in all answer to your question Switzer bad to deal, I myself have to say yes. I wouldn't deal with them if they were the last herp dealers alive. Mind you they are dealers that buy out of country/state they do not breed nor care for their herps or else they would not keep them in a whare house.

its always an awsome idea to read the WHOLE thread first ^_-

Well first off don't accuse me of being a liar . Wolfy .."..I've lived in Florida my entire life, and I know that you need the styro layer, and I know not to try to re-use heatpacks. He probaly knew that too, but was in a rush, and upset that his new pet was 'sick' and he wasn't going to get to keep him." well good for you living in Florida . you know you really should read all of the thread before adding your 2 cents and would i get my money back if he died on they way Back ? well i doubt it ! or wait it was the Tegu's fault and i just wanted to be mean to him. ill show you come to my house sick no new heat packs for you ..Thats .Stupid i would have had no problem buying heat packs ! and for them being upset about the way it was shipped I CALLED THEM BEFORE I SHIPPED HIM BACK but you would know that if you Read the entire Thread . so yes i have learned some thing about shipping reptiles o and i would like to add to the story When i bought him Kevin told me there were 2 left. and he would hold the bigger one for me ...then a few days later the other party added in a post..... i just bought the last Tegu from Switzer So then WHY did he get the Tegu i sent back ? and not the other one that he had Reserved ?

FIRST! I did not call you a liar. I said even though *I* have lived in a hot climate even *I* know to use stuff to pack a LIVE ANIMAL CORRECTLY. Technically that was calling you STUPID not a liar. Also not my intent. I was saying how it was easy to have made a mistake.
SECOND! I read the entire thread with all the posts.
THIRD! I never even IMPLIED you packed him poorly to punish him. You just came up with all that on your own time. I said you rushed and were upset you weren't going ot get to keep him. AS IN, you wanted a tegu pet, you recieved it and were excited and happy, but then there was a problem and now you have to send it back, thereby not getting ot keep your new pet, and were upset.
FOURTH! Just because you CALLED them in no way negates the fact that the animal was improperly shipped, and therefor they were upset that the animal's life was endangered. That in no way makes it anymore YOUR fault, nor does it entitle anyone to treat you poorly.

YOU are being a jerk. YOU are reading stuff into MY post that isn't there. YOU are showing that YOU are a immature person who will not assume responsiblilty for your own mistakes. That's YOUR problem. After this post from you, I have total sympathy for anyone ever having to deal with you.
And again I READ THE THREAD! My post totally showed how I agreed that you should have gotten your money back, and were not totally to blame for shipping the animal inproperly, and that means YOU didn't read MY post before you spouted off.
Wolfy

I would have to agree that both parties made errors here. The Switzers should have been more dilligent in diagnosing the problem upon the animals return and it should not have been shipped out so soon after reeipt without a definite diagnosis and treatment. However, they have admitted their error and made the situation right with all concerned. That speaks volumes.

The return shipping being woefully substandard should not be excused by Jim's lack of shipping experience. The styrofoam and heatpack deficiency falls more into the realm of common sense. A piece of styro could have been purchased at Home Depot for a couple of bucks or the original panel could have been taped together. If he had said he did not have heat packs I am sure the seller would have either directed hoim to some or supplied them . I find his attitude of "I didn't know" unconvincing. Jim seems completely incapable of recognizing his own mistakes.

However, this situation has ended well and probably needs to fade into the background.

I'm stupid being a jerk and not calling me a liar its all up there i said i didnot know to get new heat packs and you said " I know not to try to re-use heatpacks. He probably knew that too, " etc wow who's immature well its all up there so for as pulling stuff out of your post thats not there ....Scroll up ... and as far as the Styrofoam goes it was a lack of judgement on my part yes .....i thought about it from a structurally stand point perventing the box from being pushed in . not a heat holding stand point and a felt the heat packs before i called them and yes they were still warm ...so i guess i need to be more specific next time in my questions . How Do i Send Him Back .. and my answear was Box him up and ship him back i would have not had a problem buying foam or heat packs if i thought it would have been needed

Well in one hand Switzer did the right thing by refunding the money to the second party that took ownership of the tegu, but in the same sense even though everyone is trying to blame the buyer and not the seller. As a good business owner and herper for that matter Kevin Switzer of Switzer reptiles should have done alot better in describeing how to send the animal back, From what I know Jim Rich has never had to ship an animal out he has only recevied and in every receival that he has gotten he had a structually sound box with some nexpaper for insolation. Now that he lives in Montana Kevin should have read more into the question no through telekenisis or anything like that but as good sense that a true herper would have had and should have ackknowledged the question more throughlly. Also we really need to get back to the subject at hand and the subject of this post. The subject was not whether Jim Rich shipped the reptile wrong. That could have and probally happens to people who don't have shiping expeirence before. The point of the post was whether Switzer reptiles was a good company has good costumer service and has good product. So far from what I have seen he fails in the category of costumer service by the way he handles his company whenever a buisness deal goes wrong or something bad happens there is honestly no reason to have your mother get on the phone and yell at the consumer. As far as a good product i don't think you have yet to have proven yourself in that sense either Kevin. Shipping out a reptile that was sick not once but twice. As a buisness man myself I personally ALWAYS check my product before sending it out wether I have one product or one-hundred it is just a manner of buisness. Also you should have the refunds for both previous owner and current owner delivered within a few days 5 tops thats not good buisness that is just being a good person. I honestly think that switzer reptiles in not a good dealer due to the fact he is a dealer and has no care for his product. While moveing a form of livestock you should always take care of it. Keeping your lizards in a whare house is horrid. and that lame excuse of it was dried turkey was just complete BS. It was common sense that that was not food and you should have know that through being an experienced dealer.

Jim, I take it you got your refund?

If so, then this case is closed. The Switzers did the right thing and amended their name. The tegu got to the vets and the problem was corrected. He now has a very good owner that is well pleased with his deal with the Switzers.

IMO, this is the end of this story. Why do we need to continue to spread smut on this thread?

i have spoken to them . and we are giving it till Friday . then if it does not show up they will cut me another check . soon as i get my refund i will post that i have received it as it would be the right thing to do on my part

It was told to me by Jim that he did not talk to Kevin or Linda about how to ship the animal back. Instead it was the 16 year old son, this might explain why the return shipping was so confusing. :shrug01:

Regardless, the tegu is doing great.

I am a long time keeper and breeder of these Argentine Tegus. The information on this species is very limited. I do know quite a bit about these animals. They are not a tropical animal and are quite cold tolerant. I am not saying that you do not need to use heat packs, but they will fare much better than many other reptiles when dealing with cold temps. Tegus can take a few days of 35*F without any harm, they go dormant in winter. As long as the temps do not drop below 35*F for many days inside their burrows, they are fine. Tegus are known to hibernate and do take quite a drop in temps during winter.

Kevin Switzer is in his 50s, I would say you were right when you told me on the phone it was the son.

I'd like to apoligize to Carbon-Killer for not being clearer in my post. I never intended to imply that you intentially did not ship correctly. I never intended to call you a liar either. I'm terribly sorry that you took it that way.
I should have responded in a more level-headed manner when you posted in response, and didn't. My only excuse is that I've had a lousy week of break-ins, vehicle break-downs and illness. Not a good excuse for not being more level-headed though.
I hope that you get your refund, and that all works out well.
Wolfy

Apologie accepted ! and sorry i took what you were saying the wrong way Aswell . this has been a most un enjoyable ride

i am posting that i have my Refund

Great to hear it Jim!! I am a pretty good at judging people. Kevin and Linda seem to be a real good folks, I will not hold this transaction against them. They have made good on all accounts here.

BTW, Jim, You need to get a Paypal account, you would have gotten a instant refund. We all know how slow USPS can be. :)
