In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ivory will be seeing the vet on tuesday, soonest I can get him in to my reptile vet who is currently treating him. But I have spoken to two reptile vets over the phone and they have never seen this, though one suggested an allergic reaction and so probably not a emergency, which is what I think. Looks kind of like dropsy on fish.

Ivory is being treated for an URL with ceftazidime and some trebeenn something er rather pink stuff. This swelling happened very quickly, four days ago I switched from fortaz to generic, I remember seeing a little swollen spot, a few days ago, cleaned the cage in the morning friday, - nothing new, but when I went to medicate in the evening he looked like this, well it might have gone down some.

Does any one have ideas?

Thats too bad :( i don't have allot of experience but i hope the vet clears everything up. Best of luck

Looks like an infection I saw on a friends burmese years ago. In his case it was a burn and then the pus filled blister like lumps. Are the bumps hard or soft?

They are soft, as if liquid filled. would be annoying if it was an infection, he is on two types of antibiotics lol. Thank you very much, some more info for the doc.

Any chance he has been burned? As I understood it in my friends case the blisters came first the infection second and he ended up loosing the snake. So I would hit the vet asap.

There are a lot of variables to rule out, and not enough information to do it with...
Without the benefit of the full story and physical exam, nothing any of us could give you would be more than guesswork.

It doesn't matter how many antibiotics the snake is on, if the bacteria involved aren't sensitive to it (them)...in fact, they can do more harm than good. There is also the possibility that the infection you were treating was a secondary issue, and there is a bigger underlying problem.

arg, vet visit got knocked up to weds. but he will certainly be going to a reptile expert. The snake was there not quite three weeks ago, when he was prescribed the meds with a very wet uri. the other med is tribrissen.

There is not way he could have been burned. the thermostat, on the heat panel (freedom breeder rack) does not go above 92, set for 89. and not body else is having any issues.

Thanks everybody for your help, I have just talked to a couple of reptile vets who have never seen this, though over the phone, and want as much information to give dr Dinger in case he hasn't seen it, and can give him a starting point. Guess work is awesome!, I am not looking for a professional diagnosis though would love to know what is wrong with him.

I've got no experience with tribrissen; but a quick read shows that it is generally ineffective against Pseudomonas, that it concentrates in the liver and kidneys, and that treatment should not extend beyond 14 days. Skin issues are one of the known side effects.
If it is as simple as a reaction to the drug, it "should" resolve after discontinuing treatment...however time factors can be relative when talking about reptiles.
I have seen abcess formations with a similar appearance in snakes with sepsis, despite aggressive ABX therapy. Given the treatment you've described, have you been providing supplemental fluids? (tubing water, soaking, etc?)

I'm more familiar with ceftazidime being given with aminoglycosides, but the goal of concomitant therapy is maximizing the effect...as such, tribrissen (on the face of things, and with what little knowledge I picked up in a brief search) seems like a reasonable option. My search for using the two medications together came up with nothing useful...but, as indicated by my previous question, I would be concerned with the renal effects of the combination.

THANK YOU, I actually stopped giving him the tribriseen to days ago (I have had an other sick snake I had lung wash cultured, I can not of course find the report as to what it was, but one of the pathogens was only killed by tribrissen) I actually stopped giving him the it two days ago, because of the stress. NO on the extra fluides though he often sleeps in his water dish, I will make sure he gets a good soak tonight, and all evenings, and he WILL still be seeing the vet.

A full mystery why recovery o_O Treatment - more water. he is almost back to normal now!!! YEAH

My reptile expert vet was stumped, he took a biopsy and found cells, but nothing that looks like an infection. he has been getting extra baths, and water with his meds. Had to go back on the tribossin - cold came back - and well on his way to being healthy.

Thank you all for you help and good thoughts.
