In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was wondering if any of you use the T--Rex Crested Gecko MRP with your Leos. I was going to start using the T-Rex Leopard Gecko ICB but the store I go to was out. They had the Crested Gecko MRP and the manager told me I could have that for $2.00 were they did not have the Leo dust. So I got it. But I wanted to get others opinion before I used it. I know I have read a number of post from folks that use it for their Cresteds and love it.

Thanks,
Jeff C.

its the same stuff in a different package(compare the contents at t-rex's website there is barely, if any difference). most on here will recommend reptivite for dusting, Mineral O or Outdoor for calcium dish, and progeckos gutload for gutload. I'm sorta new as well but since a couple months back that's what I've been using as well. I started out with T-rex ICB for leopard geckos as well, so when I switched over I had alot left over, so I took a old jar and mixed the small bottle of ICB with a large bottle of reptivite and a half of a can of Minerall O. It's worked so far, but make sure there is more reptivite then the other 2 if you plan on mixing as I did.

Have you seen any difference since you changed over? I give them a small dish of Reptical for calcium but have not been using a vitamin supplement. But were I am gearing up to start breeding I decided to start supplementing with vitamins as well. I have used T-Rex in the past with good luck so I decided to try them with the Leos.

be carefull of the amount of vitamins and minerals you ptovide... i do not know about the t-rex stuff but minerall and herptivite... contain both vitamins A and D.. now while both of these are important too much can cause serious damage to the leos and any offspring. i would go with a straight calcium carbonate in the enclosure... and mist with herptivite like once a week (as long as you gutload your insects correctly)

So what I am hearing is that I really don't need to start a vitamin supplement. I feed a straight meal worm diet. I always gut load my meal worms for at least 24 hours prior to feeding. I gut load using fresh veggies and apples as was well as Fluker cricket gut load mixed with oatmeal and wheat germ.

you DO need a calcium suppliment and to ensure they are getting all they need you do need the vitamins but only weekly.
robert i know the mineral O has little to no d in it but you mostly want to be worried about vit A more than even vit D..... marcia is going to come on here shortly and explain it.

careful...

There is a BIG difference between the T-Rex ICB and the MRP, even if their contents 'appear' the same!!! The ICB is to be used as a 'dust' for insect feeders, where the MRP is a 'meal replacement' for Rhac species that is mixed with water to form a gel-like food. If you dust your crickets with MRP, you are using the product improperly. Not to mention, Leopard Geckos are NOT fruit eaters, and the nutritional requirements are different for Leopard Geckos and Crested Geckos.

Leopard Geckos are nocturnal species, and therefore require Vitamin D as a supplement. Their skin is not adapted to assimilate VitD from natural sunlight like other reptiles. Keep in mind that if you are supplementing your leo with vitamins that contain VitD, you probably do not need a calcium supplement that contains it.

Thanks everyone for your replies. They all make allot of sense. Way back when I used to breed Leos (1985 to 1993ish) it was as simple as giving them crickets dusted in calcium once a week and leaving a small dish of calcium in the cage. Now that I am using only meal worms (much more convenient then crickets) I wonder if they are getting all they need.

I think mealworms are much better then crickets for leopard geckos. but always be looking for new foods. I'm looking into dubia roaches and silk worms along with the mealworms/crickets I currently use.

I don't think I could handle feeding roaches. If I could find some where local that I could buy some silk worms from I would give them a try but heard they are hard to find and expensive.
