Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Tail Problem, Need Advice

So I've had my new gargoyle gecko about 3 weeks and he has been doing well except for his tail which has a dead tip. I believe that this is from a stuck shed and the necrosis on the tail seems to be spreading. He is 2 months old. I'm looking for advice on what the best course of action is to remedy this problem.

There is definitely still some unremoved shed that should be removed immediately. Do this and see if the condition improves within a reasonable amount of time. If it shows no signs of progress, you should take it to a vet. If the tissue is truly dead they may force the gecko to drop its tail above the line of necrosis; inhibiting natural regeneration. I have drawn a few lines where it appears there are layers of shed (creating a discolored, necrotic look), and have circled a tight "band" of stuck shed that should be removed immediately as it is clearly still causing the greatest problem. Always remember to dust insects with calcium and vitamins, as deficiencies can even cause shedding issues where skin is thin and does not shed well. And of course remain mindful of humidity levels.
