    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Tangerine Tornados from Urban Gecko - Pictures!

SWEET! Thats gotta be the best thing , keeping the best of the best from those critters !

Too bad they are youngins themselves just for that reason ,but it would be amazing to watch these grow up too !
 
Tangs just ROCK! A solid orange/red gecko in my honest opinion is just the pinnacle of leopard gecko breeding efforts! I can't wait till next season!!!! Going to concentrate even more on mine! 10,000 in Tangerines??? Holy Moly!!! I wouldn't mind one to cross into the Nitro lineage Bruce. Keep me in mind as well.

Yes, a leopard gecko that is a deep bright fluorescent solid orange the same color as its 100 percent carrot-tail must be the goal. This gecko would also be most acceptable with a golden stripe down down its back! Perhaps Albey is getting close to this?

It is Funny you should mention that. I was just thinking the other day that when people finally see my Best Of 2004 page they are going to be thinking that they’re not as nice as some of the ones on my Best Of 2003 page. What has happened is with trying to combine all of the most desirable traits you have to take a step backwards to go forward.

For example, breeding the Carrot-tail to the Super Hypo Tangerines you get more Carrot-tail but you lose the intense orange coloration. Breeding the Tangerine Dorsal Stripe to the Baldy Super Hypo Tangerines you get the striping but you also bring in head spots, and so on. The good thing is now my 2005 Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot-tail cross are getting close to 100% Carrot-tail and the intense orange coloration is coming back. The Tangerine Dorsal Stripe to Super Hypo Tangerine is getting close to no head spotting. So by next year maybe they will all come together. Or maybe not. LOL
 
lol... you really gotta love all the speculation and effort that goes into producing something that may NEVER show up to what you envisioned, but who knows, you may stumble onto something else entirely that is even more exciting than the plan! I love the breeding game, such a crap shoot but the payoff, sweet!

I look forward to seeing your 04 AND 05 best of Albey!

Tornado pictures with an average camera and a lousy photographer(me).

By popular request, here are my own pictures of the tornados in my own set-ups. The tornados were hatched between May 28 and June 23, 2005. The pictures were taken on November 6, 2005. So, they are in the Nov 6, 2005 pictures five to six months old.

I have put the identification number of each gecko in the title of each picture, including the pics taken by Urban Gecko, so that you can match them for comparison. Yes, they are very pricey; but you are talking to a guy who would not pay $1,400 for a piebald ball python, or an albino alligator. I guess it is all a matter of what floats your boat. I think some guy paid more than that for a slice of pizza on e-bay. :cool:
 
very true, I've just came to conclusion that the camera urban uses does not appropriately represent the orange and red colorations in their leos. the snows and such look great, just seems certain cameras exaggerate those particular colors. Olympus and older canons especially.

their photos look fantastic, but from what i have seen the actual animals vary greatly and to me when spending that much on a tang it had better look identical to what influenced me to make my purchase. the photos sure make them look as if they are worth every penny, but whenever i see the very same animals in comparison to photos customers take they never look remotely the same to me. but their snows do. thats why i figured it was probably just their equipment. but perhaps its just me.

Don't get me wrong, Craig is a great guy, great animals too... there are just my observations to date.

for example.... your photos are great, and below are quite a few baldy tangs, urban lineage, that were $50-$70 each last season from shelly. they look alot like the photos you have taken, more lighting however. im sure if these very same animals were photographed using the "right" equipment, they would look alot like some of urbans photos. i've been tempted to purchase tangs from craig in the past, but never could bring myself to do so. I'll definately be on the prowl for a nice snow if he ever posts one though! :)

also, if you want to see what i mean, take those outdoor photos and put them side by side with each of the ones from urban. again, just an observation.... dont want to stir anyones panties :)

(your photo female 1 to urban photo female 1, etc. etc.)
 
i do have to admit though, even in your photos i do like the darker red those tornados display. who knows.... someday ;)
 
Dang, those are superb tangerines for $50 - $70! A few of my finest oranges were $100 from small hobbyists.

I can honestly say that from my personal experience, that the tornados are a unique refinement in the tangerine lines. Definitely somehow different. You have to see them in person to believe. But, I am positive Kelli Hammack and Alberto have oranges that rank as high as tornados. I have just not been able to acquire their current best of the best, but I will work on it! :cool:
