    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just got my guides for the plexi glass I have been waiting for. I removed the temp. screen that I had up. My dragons basking spot is ok temp wise since I lowered the drift wood where he sits. But my cool side up top went from 75 to 85 degrees since I put up the plexi glass. I don't know what it is lower in the enclosure yet. Is 85 ok for cool side or do I have to make another opening to allow for some heat to escape?

85 is too high for the cool side but that is at the top and of course hot air rises. You need to to get a reading at the bottom as that will be the coolest part of the cage. What kind of thermometer are you using? I use a temp gun from pro exotics. They are awesome and no I dont make a commishion off those things, I just couldnt believe how quick, easy, and accurate they read for only about $25. I spent $40 on a flukers thermometer when I got my first beardie and it took about 5 min to get a reading( a pet store recommendation of course)

Between 80-85 is acceptable for a cool side temperature. A temp gun will check surface temps, not the ambient air temps, so if you have a reliable thermometer, I would place it where the Beardie will be sitting (at the bottom) on the cool side, and see what you get for a reading. I love my temp gun for checking the basking spot temps and stuff though....thery're a great tool to have.

Im not sure exactly what ambiant air temps are but if I hold my temp gun in my living room it will read 70 degrees just like my thermistat and it will read the temps outside just as well shooting it straight in the air. But a cage of course is smaller and the temp gun is made to measure surface temps, however unless your cage is made of metal or something like it then the surface temps should be close to the same as the air.

Thanks. I moved my thermometor to a better position and seems to have a better temp. More like 80 degrees on the driftwood were I placed it. Still might have to make a new hole for more of the heat to escape. But I am waiting to see if temps stay at 80 on cool side and 96 on hot side. I don't want to make a new hole on the enclosure and make thae temps go to low.
