In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok, I saw an add on Kingsnake for labrynth burms. I emailed her telling her I wanted a female she said she had one, so I said Ill take it. She called me to verify that I wanted the female Labrynth burm and I told her agian YES, and i would send out a money order first thing last monday. I thought something was wrong cause the labrynth burm was only $115 shipped, but I figured I was getting a good deal. She contacts me via email saying she got the money order and she will be shipping the burm out on monday for tuesday delivery. Monday I get an email saying she lost the money order and needed the info so she could get another one, i gave her the info I had on the money order but then she emails me saying she found it. Everything was going good, she then sends me and email with the tracking # says it will be here by noon tuesday. Well it arrived on tuesday right on time. I look at the box and I see holes poked in the side of it, not a good idea since I live in NY and its 30 degrees here. I open the box and it was NOT INSULATED AND THERE WERE NO HEAT PACKS. I was positive the snake would be dead, but it was actually alive, barely but it was alive, I put the snake in warm water to get its body heat up, O yea , the snake she sent me was a NORMAL BURM, NOT A LABRYNTH. I emailed her telling her i was not happy cause i ordered a labrynth not a normal and it was almost dead. It was also infested with mites. I tried emailing her today and to my surprise she no longer has that email address,
here is her Info that I have, if anyone has her phone # i would appreciate it,

good luck

Just as a note for other situations like this...

I am not sure who Ritchie used, but I have had fairly good luck using www.anywho.com to do reverse address and phone number searches to find people, so it might be useful to those of us out there trying to track down a deadbeat dealer.

Best of luck to you on getting your money back!

Just a little update. I called her and got her on the phone. She is saying that I ordered a Het for labrynth burm, but I know that i ordered a labrynth. What i ordered doesnt excuse the poor packing job that almost killed the snake. All im looking for is a refund of my money so i can go find a female labrynth burm.
thanks for your help guys

Address

Thats the correct address and all been there several times. Sons name. Only problem I have had getting ahold of them was yesterday as their ISP was down and couldnt email them-- but its working today. I took the pictures for the snakes they listed--you should go back and reread the ad and I think it will clear things up a little as to what they were selling. I have bought a couple of snakes from them and they always dealt fairly with me--Jim Bond

There is no excuse for the packaging they used, but the ad they currently have posted on Kingsnake does list just hets. The price is approximately what you paid as well. I am sensing a miscommunication at the base of, at least, that part of your situation.

Mike Habel

Can you post your emails so that we can verify you requested a labrynith(sp) burm. Also can you post a link to the add.
Thanks

MIKE HABEL HORRIBLE BUSINESS PERSON!

There are always two sides to every story!
Ok, Frist I believe he mis read the ad we listed Nov 24, 02 on Kingsnake.com; We also have relisted the ad Dec 04,02 with the exact same advertisement no changes were made. anyone who would like to see how it reads can view it at Kingsnake.com - pythons section. We are breeders now for the past 20 years and have never had a problem with anyone like this before. We also deal with 20 pet shop in-state and out-of-state and have never had this problem, we did have a problem with our ISP for 1 day that doesn't make us HORRIBLE BUSINESS!! I'm sure we are not the only ones who have had ISP problems before. We have not had any problems with mites, every reptile is Vet checked for wormes and parisites before shipping of any kind. And as for loosing the money order - It droped out of her purse at the grocery store by mistake, the store manager contacted her the following day to let her know they had found it, She contacted Mr. Habel to get money order number and location where purchased so she could put a stop payment on it and get the store to issue a new one, until she was notified that it had been found. Not to have Mr. Habel to send another one! We also have never had anyone complain about how we package our reptiles. It maybe that the shipper didn't keep it at the correct tempature, Mr. Habel was told if he was disatisfied with the company who delivered the animal he needed to file a complaint with them at time of delivery, which he didn't do. Our company policy is to give our Phone number to person who ordered, and they are asked to call us to let us know that they received the shipment OK! HE ALSO DID NOT DO THIS. If he had a problem contacting us by e-mail he should have called us and tried to solve the problem with us frist. BUT instead he chose to write these pack of lies. WE received a e-mail from this concerned lady, she stated she had read a post on the BOI that she thought we might like to see. She also states she checked out our add and saw that we were advertising "HETS". and thought we might want to tell our side of the story before things got out of hand. Every e-mail he sent to us; in the message space had: 02' BURMS - Het for Labyrinth and Het for Albino. We also e-mailed a picture of the Burms for sale before he purchased the snake.

It definitely sounds like the buyer was mistaken regarding what he ordered but...I'm curious...did you actually send a tropical animal to a 30 degree location in an uninsulated cardboard box with out any supplemental heat source? You are located in Alabama so the temp at the point of departure was probably not too much above that. If his statements about the packaging are true, it is a wonder the animal was alive at all.

Also, your statement regarding having the buyer contact the carrier to lodge a complaint about the temp of the box is ridiculous. He has absolutely no recourse there unless you used Delta Dash. It is always the shipper's (that's you) responsibility to pack for the correct temps. 100% no ifs, ands, or buts.

No! that is one of the things I meant about Mr. Habel wanting to tell a pack of lies. We have been shipping for many years, We use a heavy card board box with lots of insulation and heating as needed inside with the Reptile. What the problem is. He mis-understood the ad and he is mad, and trying to say other things are the problem and not what he is really mad about. Also he stated he spoke to me by phone after he received the burm, he DID NOT CONTACT us at all about the problem. Instead he posted a complaint here. I know if I purchased anything from anyone and wasn't happy about it I would try to solve the pronlem with that person Frist, and not just post a complaint to try to get everyone else to solve it for me. Like he seems to be doing.

Thanks for your concern.

Pack of lies. The snake was sent in an UNINSLULATED box with NO HEAT PACKS. Maybe i was mistaken about buying a het, I was told it was a labrynth, but its my word against theres. but the shipping was horrible and i will not contact UPS about your shipping problems. It was sent on time and arrived on time. The insulatjion you used was packing peanuts and newspaper, NO HEAT PACK. and there were holes put in the side of the box. THAT IS THE TRUTH.

. It maybe that the shipper didn't keep it at the correct tempature, Mr. Habel was to

Teresa . These statements seem to contradict each other.

"It maybe that the shipper didn't keep it at the correct tempature, Mr. Habel was told if he was disatisfied with the company who delivered the animal he needed to file a complaint with them at time of delivery, which he didn't do"
And then Teresa says
"We use a heavy card board box with lots of insulation and heating as needed inside with the Reptile"

It sounds as if you thought UPS was supposed to keep your snake warm, when in fact, they were probably unaware that you were shipping a snake in the box. Shipping reptiles in the winter can be very risky, you need to take extra precautions to insure that the animal does not suffer.

Teresa,
You are saying I did not contact you on the phone. I talked to you yesterday and told you I was very unsatisfied, I also emailed you as soon as I got the snake, and I you never replied. I then tried to email you again for your phone # and the emails were sent back to me. I put this thread up on the forum to tell people what kind of business you run and Mr. Luna helped me find your phone # cause u NEVER gave it to me. If you have been in business for so long then what is your return policy for an unsatisfied customer?

Regardless, I believe it is UPS policy that the shipper is responsible for making claims and not the recipient. The most the recipient could do would be to refuse to accept the shipment, which would ensure a dead snake.

Weather here has been below 30* I agree completely that extra precausions needed to be taken, and more than likely the snake should not have been shipped in the first place.

Also.. I forgot to add.... in this day and age with easy access to digital photography equipment (can get a crappy camera for under 100 bucks easily)... do you have any pictures of the snake and of the packaging it was sent in. Maybe its just me.. but.. my camera is always handy when opening shipped herps.. also.. when I recieved herps from Delta Dash... I always opened them up with a witness around (usually the delivery guy or the person at the counter if I picked them up there.. plus.. the delivery guys always seemed to like that.. I let them hold the snakes while they were warming up from the cold trip.. was an added perk for those guys). It might sound like I am going overboard here.... but... if I ever had any problems like this... it was more than my word -vs- theirs.

Scott,
I wish i did have there original ad. When I contacted them they did have both Labrynths and hets. I was aware of that, they were the same price as well. Teresa called me and I said I wanted a labrynth female, maybe she didnt understand me. At this point I dont care about the mix up, All i care about is how it was packaged. Its COLD in NY, its actaully snowing now, and it was a regualr box with packing peanuts and newspaper, THATS IT. I actually got it sent to my business so my employees were there when I recieved it. I do have a digital camera, but it wont work with windows xp, so Im looking around for a new camera.
Like I said, the burm is here now and is looking better, not eating, but at least moving around. Im just upset with the way they packed it.

It maybe that the shipper didn't keep it at the correct tempature,
I can't help but laugh at this statement. Can we say, "passing the buck"?

Now then, I'd like to see a detailed description of the packaging, including the type of heat source used. The vague description that was supplied by Teresa tells nothing.

There's two totally opposite stories being told here, and thus far Mike Habel's side is the more believable of the two.

THis is the exact way it was packaged:
regular box,
packing peanuts on the bottom, snake in a cloth bag, newspaper on top. Holes poked in the side of the box.,

There was absolutly NO heat source what so ever.
It was shipped UPS over night, so it arrived on time, and it did say live animal on the box, but it is not UPS s fault.

I just dont want to be made to look like a liar, if it was my fault i would take total responsibility,

reply- to ScottsReptiles

Hello Scott,

I have a print out of the original website link that Mr. Habel requested the burm from. It was posted on Nov 24, 02, He e-mailed us on the 24th or 25th wanting a female; he also added in this e-mail his phone#. Teresa called him the same day to let him know she needed his address, zip & phone# where shipping to, he then gave her his full name and address, and she also gave him our PHONE# and asked him to contact us when she arrives to let us know all was OK! On Nov 28, 02 he e-mailed us wanting to know if we had received the money order, the mail doesn't run (Thanksgiving Day). We did receive the money order around 4:50pm on Nov 29, 02; the UPS office & Airborne office is two hours away so couldn't ship out on the 29th,
she e-mailed him to let know that it couldn't be shipped out on the 30th Saturday and delivered on Monday it would be in shipping to long, it would be shipped on Dec 02, 02 Monday for a Tuesday delivery, he e-mailed us back and I QUOTE: sounds great, I'll let you know when she arrives. thanks, Mike

Scott, how can I attach a copy of the original website link for you to see, When we post an ad we print out a copy for our records so not sure how to attach to this forum?

Thanks, Mike Keene
