In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Terry Maheuron - Photo Thief

Here we go again...cliques, wolfpack, blah blah blah.
Of which clique is Shadera a charter member??

Oops, sorry, you said "the" Fauna clique. For the sake of accuracy, THE Fauna clique existed, had its heyday, and fizzled before Shadera registered.

Interesting that you said Terry "wronged" her in the same sentence, though. I'm sure it was all sarcasm; but, still, it bears repeating that using other people's pictures in one's ads is wrong. Personally, I don't copy images of other people's snakes onto my computer without specific reason - usually, because I am purchasing them.
It may have been a simple mistake that resulted in Shadera's picture being posted in Terry's ad, or maybe it was just a lazy moment. Is it really worth a bunch of people taking shots at each other? Terry removed the image, and has reportedly apologized to Shadera.....is there anything else that people expect of him?
People can disagree with the premise of the the thread, but how many would just shrug it off if they found THEIR picture in another person's ad? Would you REALLY take it as a compliment that somebody thought so much of your picture they decided to post it to sell their animals?

I think some of you, ok, one in particular, need to get off your high horse. Nobody owes anything to anyone, Terry said he told Shadera he was sorry right after it happened.

I understand how people think the BOI has certain cliques, because the same 10 people state similar opinions on thread after thread after thread, that they have no involvement in! Here is my opinion, you do not have to post on every single thread, your BOI membership does not expire if you fail to post for a day or three.

I've gleefully hopped on that particular bandwagon before. I don't think it's the whole story, but it's fairly likely that the timbre of some responses might might look quite different if the OP was an unknown entity.

While I guess that Mr. Maheuron's mistake could be extrapolated out to imply a whole host of other possible scenarios, if one were so inclined, with no one else coming forth to say that they've been wronged, I think that'd be a 'hard'-sell. On the surface, there's nothing to suggest that this was any more than a simple mistake that was subsequently fixed and apologized for. Statistically speaking, a single occurence doesn't equal a trend. It may be a bit early to be getting out the noose.

While I might want to respond to the other posts, the one your quoting (that doesn't contribute nothing but try to be antagonistic about the site and its members) and the other trying to back him up with a that-a-boy comment, yours merits a comment in my opinion.

If you do a search here on the BOI you will find many threads about people using photos that belong to others in their ads. Those threads have been made by new members and long time participating members alike. In every single thread the message has been the same. It's not OK and the person who placed the ad has received the same kind of treatment from the peers.

The point is it doesn't matter who posted this thread it would have received the same type of initial responses. You will always have varying opinions but the initial response here is no different.

There's no problem disagreeing with anyone here and that poster is talking out is butt. Shadera and just about everyone here who has posted a lot have found themselves on the minority opinion sometimes regardless of any so called perceived status.

I personally like her contributions here and thanks she is a great person but we have found yourself in disagreement and agreement in the past. What I don't do is whine and through a oh your part of a clique temper-tantrum when everyone else doesn't see it my way. I have been the odd man out to with my opinions.

So for what it's worth here is my take...

I would have been in agreement with this thread title if I didn't here back from the person or was meet with "so what I used your picture". However that isn't the case here. It would have been better to wait a little while for a response from Terry before starting this thread. Butt, butt I understand that 99.9% (probably closer to 100%) of the time someone who is using someone else's pictures knows they are and it isn't a mistake. That is usually how these situations pan-out.

This time it didn't. Hindsight is always better and it is easy to state she should have waited for a response. Anyway, I believe it was a mistake. Terry apologized. It will be good for some and not others. Personally I think that's it, this thread is resolved.

There is just as many people defending Terry as others who aren't. People who read this thread will see all the positive comments and can easily read the other positive threads. Just because some might not agree doesn't make this a all bad thread or others aren't entitled to their opinion.

Honestly, If I didn't know Terry had a good rep and I noticed my picture in his ad, the first thing I would think is this is a scammer and it would be a good thing to warn others. If anything this should be a reminder (at least to me) not to assume without checking a little first. That's just me.

I think it would be appropriate to chalk this up to a mistake on Terry's part and move on. That's just my two bits.

Here's MY opinion: You can take five minutes, set up 10 'ignores' and find lasting happiness on Fauna :reddevil:

Since nobody has mentioned it yet...
The ad was posted for two (2.0) snakes, the picture was of only one snake. Robert Kelly posted a picture (I presume) of the actual snakes in question with BOTH snakes present. That leads me to believe this was an honest mistake since the "stolen" picture was of only one snake. It seems plausible that the incorrect picture (of one snake) was used in error when the ad was placed, IMO.

It seems like the appropriate action was taken once Terry learned of his mistake. It was pointed out that the picture was taken down immediately after being "caught".....which is EXACTLY what an honest seller should have done. If the ad was left up after Terry was informed, then I would think otherwise.

Ladies, I have 1300 posts since 2002, you have 5000 and 8000 respectively. I do not see how I am posting on every thread, if you do the math, it is far from it. Ten year member, and 1300 posts, please.

Some people seem to enjoy beating a dead horse, there was no need for Deb's post about Terry and trying to connect some imaginary dots between accidentally using someone elses picture and how that makes his paperwork suspect, and the other idiotic conclusions you made. How do you equate, without knowing the guy, misposting a picture, and having horrible breeding records? posting a wrong picture and all of a sudden the snakes and pictures he posted in the past must be all messed up? Remember people, most individuals who get called out about using someone elses pictures basically say screw you, I will do what I want. Terry owned up to it immediatly, accidents happen. It is all about how you handle them, and I think Terry handled his in a flawless manner, and if the OP'r would have waited a day or two, I do not think this thread would have been necessary. That being said, some people LIVE for starting threads, no matter how large or small the assumed "crime" is. Shadera, how would you like to have a bad guy thread for life, even though it is petty and the content of the thread clearly shows who the bad guy is? The BOI has the regulars, and we all know how the BOI works, and if there are 10 good guy threads and one bad guy thread on a person, we will look at the content of the bad guy thread and see what the problem was, and the outcome. Some BOI newbies will see a bad guy thread and wrongly conclude that Terry must be a bad guy.
I think this thead clearly illustrates how easy it is to get over zealous when we think we have been wronged. I do not think Shadera is a bad person, I think she used bad judgement and I think the anticipated pats on the back by the BOI regulars and her friends was the push she needed to post what clearly is a miscarriage of justice as a bad guy thread.

No clue what you are talking about. :shrug01:

My opinion is valid because it's mine and I wanted to post. Breaking the law is breaking the law. I overlooked the fact that he said he had already apologized, and as it had. It was pointed out, and a simple apology from me for overlooking and continuing the thread should have been enough.

But...noooooo.

I post a lot because I have a lot to say, you don't because you don't...so should I change my personality to mirror yours?

He broke the law, it was simple.:shrug01: Mistake or no, and since there was no monetary value attached, I offered a solution of an apology.:shrug01:

If the OP has no issues with the solution, who am I to argue? As I said, I overlooked that the seller had already apologized.

Dude, you don't know me at all if you think that's why I posted this. It's horrible for me to think that someone used my pictures without asking to see if they did it on purpose, but you guys are speculating out both sides of your hind ends with some of this and that's okay? Hypocrisy 101. I actually DO have a BS bad guy thread. Does it hurt my rep? Maybe, for the few whom I've told to pound sand. But my stuff sells just fine. If someone truly is a good guy, a bad guy thread they do the right thing in won't hurt them.

Terry apologized long ago, and we both stopped posting long ago. Y'all are the ones that are rabid to keep his name at the top of this forum with that big red X, not me. What am I supposed to do, beg to have it taken down? You guys know it won't happen. It's been resolved, so if we could quit with the potshots, it can sink quietly into antiquity. Unless you're just wanting your own egos stroked, of course. :shrug01:

Warning: Discussions in a forum designed for "discussions" is one thing, and entirely welcome on this site, but the petty sniping at each other IS going to stop or I'll just send the whole lot of you to the locker room for a month.
:NoNo:

I've notified the FBI, Scotland Yard, and Interpol. The situation is under control. Nothing to see here. Please go about your business.
Thank You!
