In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Matt, I would have to agree to a certain point, But I would have to say that by starting this thread, You, yourself are also guilty of "WRONG" doing, Whether or not the USPS files charges or not, You, Sir, have committed a Felony by shipping Illegally, Now when someone does a search on you, This thread will pop up,So one would have to wonder what effect this will have on your Business. :>poke2<: Just a thought to ponder.

Honestly, after reading this thread I would never consider doing bussiness with either of you. Him because he is a scammer, and you because of your attitude toward people trying to warn you not to commit a federal crime. Whether anyone is prosecuted for it or not does not make it right. People who openly break the law like yourself give the government more reasons to limit what all herpers can keep. Don't think the goverment would not like to shut down the whole reptile industry if they could. They gain very little from it and spend tons of $$ trying to get rid of invasive exotics in some states.

John. :hurray: Here another thought for the brain to ponderer, There are alot of people who read these threads,Some are registered, Some are just guests, Did it ever occur to people, that what is posted in these threads about the illegal activities, is really giving the government the ammunition they need to pull the plug on all this...It may not be today or tommorrow,But 1 day we will wake up, and say "What the :censored: happened" and the only answer is "Because we let it happen" :>poke2<: We can't change yesterday ........But we sure as hell change tomorrow.....

Matt, sorry about the bad deal and thanks for sharing your incident with Scott.

There are a few things I would like to address:

I have heard over and over of people trying to sue another for their cost to sue that person. I have yet to hear of anyone being awarded by the courts for the costs that were spent in suing an individual. So i would like to know if this has been successful.

.

Normally court costs are awarded to the prevailing party. However, these costs do not normally include attorneys fees in many jurisdictions.

not condoning it but honestly I really doubt they would go after someone unless it was venomous, got loose or someone was hurt.
Just my opinion... and please don't take my opinion to heart and try shipping USPS!!
It not ethical or legal!!

Well, I don't know about the answer to your question...but if they will charge this person with Obstructing Delivery, I have to think they would follow through on somebody shipping snakes.

Another Idiot - Seemed funny at the time?

Man Charged for Putting Boa in Mailbox

Email this Story

Jul 18, 4:11 PM (ET)

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (AP) - A man's idea of a joke, putting a pet 6-foot boa constrictor in his mailbox to startle a mail carrier, could bring him time behind bars.

"It was an incredibly stupid practical joke that wasn't funny," said James R. Mell, 31, an auto mechanic from the Detroit suburb of Farmington Hills.

Mell put the snake in his mailbox July 7, The Detroit News said.

"I thought it was funny. Looking back on it, it isn't, and it wasn't," he said.

On Monday, federal prosecutors charged Mell with obstructing the delivery of the U.S. mail. The charge carries a penalty of up to six months in prison.

Postal carrier Nakeema Anderson was making her rounds when she opened Mell's mailbox and faced the snake, court records say.

"Anderson reported observing a white male in the driveway laughing," said a report from U.S. postal inspector Andrew Gottfried.

Mell wrote a letter apologizing to Anderson and said he hoped that would settle the matter.

"It was something stupid that a 10-year-old would do, and I'm sorry," Mell said.

The pet snake is not poisonous, does not bite and has tiny teeth, the newspaper said.

"It will only strike at something that it can actually eat," Mell said.

I am friends with my local postmaster and I had asked her a similar question for another thread on the BOI. She indicated that it would be unlikely to be charged for a one time occurrence. However, it may cause them to put a watch on all your mail, and shipments, to see if there is a tendency of illegal shipping. Not sure I would like to have the gov. scrutinizing my mail.
Not that I do anything illegal :) just not crazy about the idea.

Kevin

Thank you Lloyd.

Matt I will ask again. Did Terry Scott know that you have a 35% restocking fee when you made the deal with him?

Yes, I did read this before I hit the submit button. So far, I am the only person asking this question.

I am not going to respond anymore. Talk amonst yourselfs because there something obstructing you guys from understanding me. Jesus. Talking about killing a dead horse.

I have heard of this happening. I've heard that in at least one or two instances that they've actually gone as far as not accepting packages from the "offenders".

Matt, I have no respect for Terry, Sanchez, Pablo or what ever name he is using this week, But the fact still remains despite what he has done, You are just as guilty in breaking the law, So to say that this a dead horse issue is bizarre at best, You brought the spot light upon yourself with the ILLEGAL SHIPPING....I'm truly sorry that you see all that have posted here as beating a dead horse, And your not getting what you expected out of this thread....If you are looking for someone to say "Hey Terry is a scum bucket" Well here it is, HE IS.....But that doesn't relive you of your guilt......so if you feel the need to hide, and not address what is before you then by all means do so...I'm sure you will be missed by someone.

What, did I offend you? I guess we can all assume that if someone needs to return an animal to you that they must pay a restocking fee. Good thing that is out in the open now. I really hope this is not how your communications are between you and your customers.

Matt, you have been around long enough to read the BOI and know that not everyone agrees with the thread starter. Questions are asked of the thread starter to learn more about the transaction that went sour and try to make sure without a doubt that the thread starter is not lying. It was brought up that you shipped USPS, take the warning with the understanding that you can get caught is a spiders web also. Shipping USPS may never even come up if you are in court, but you need to be prepared if it does. Throwing a tantrum here does nothing for you.

Terry may be a scammer, scumbag, low life, etc. but is it worth it to go after him, charge him for a restocking fee that you have not had in place before the transaction? Do you think a judge will grant you that? I am a firm believer in "what goes around comes around", if you want to punk someone for doing you wrong, do not get too upset when someone punks you back.

Life is funny that way.

Money back from Paypal???

pfan151 said:
Why would you ever send anything C.O.D? You are asking to get scammed. Even though paypal is not perfect it is better than C.O.D. With paypal you could have had your money immediatly and this would have never happened. And USPS is a bad idea for many reasons.
undefinedundefinedundefinedI don't know where you get the idea that Paypal will give you money back instantly. It takes at least a month for them to go over the case. Then even if they find it in your favor they will do nothing unless there is money in that account to latch on to. I am telling you from experiance. I won a claim 2 years ago and haven't seen the money. :hot:

Ed, while what you are saying is true, you kind of have the situation backwards, I believe. This didn't involve Matt getting any money BACK, it was Matt getting paid for the snakes he sent. If he would have been paid through Paypal Before sending them instead of sending them to Terry COD, he would have had the money before he sent the snakes, i.e. "right away".

Matt ..... and Bill and Mike,
For the record, I actually had the pleasure of talking with Bill and Mike yesterday on an unrelated issue .... Matt, don't know you from shinola ! OK, Matt. Don't get all worked up. I like Mike and Bill. We don't always agree. Your thread here will have the desired effect that you wanted it to with all who read it (most of them anyway). You have learned a little bit more about shipping USPS, but you aren't going to lose any business because of your admission of doing so. I would learn from it, and try a proper carrier next time though. You know that it is very impractical to pursue Mr. Alphabet for $450, and you stated such. In the BOI, others may nip at your heals, and sharpshoot you a bit. Usually its to help, but when you get a little bit hostile in reply, it becomes a "let the games begin" moment. Don't let it bother you. Just stay on message. Your first post or two said it all anyway. Bill and Mike ... you bastards  Glad I am OK with you two.

I don't see how you can assert this, you are speaking for other people's future actions. I personally agree with Dan's post #18, pointing out that if Matt knew that shipping USPS was illegal why he did it anyway. Here:

I KNOW THAT SHIPPING VIA USPS IS A FELONY THAT IS WHY HE WANTED ME TO SHIP IT THROUGH THEM.

Matt has a valid complaint if he is saying that he has not been paid for snakes he sent out. But the USPS issue is separate and not a casual one in my book.
