In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just wanted to let all of you guys know that most of Scott's geckos have been recovered. He is still missing about 20 geckos, including the N. wheeleri and N. laevissimus.

A man tried to sell a knob-tailed gecko at a local pet store, and the owner called Scott to let him know. The police arrested the gentleman, which led to the recovery of most of the geckos. The guy said that he got the knobby from a friend, and the cops got a warrant for his arrest. They searched his home and found geckos all over the place.

VERY GOOD NEW!

That's very good news!

Glad to hear the authorities worked so quickly! Hopefully, the rest will be recovered soon.
Now, it will be interesting to see if the gentleman who tried selling that specimen to the shop will be charged with theft by receiving. Just another reason one should be wary of a deal "too good to be true"

YESSSSSS!!!!

That is the best news I have heard in a very long time! If anyone was looking in my front window when I read this, they probably thought I was watching the Raiders win the Superbowl! I jumped out of my chair and scared my wife so bad that she thought we won the Lottery!LOL. Hey laugh if you want. I am thrilled for Scott and Kima. Hopefully they can rest a little better knowing that this bastard is locked up. And to get the geckos back to boot? Wow!

Congratulations Scott and Kima.

And Nathan, Thanks for supporting them through all of this.

I want to see the little Bastard prosecuted for killing the dog.

I would SO love to see more than a prosecution. I don't know what... But SOMETHING.

This is great news though... Great job to those involved in getting to the bottom of this.

NOW LET'S HAMMER THE IDIOTS INVOLVED!

I agree, it's great they got the geckos back...but I'm still freaked out about someone killing a dog for some lizards. I hope a prosecutor doesn't plea bargain this down to a misdemeanor.

sounds like the geckos involved would constitute a gand theft charge. they are not to cheap. i didnt read the other thread yet, but how was the dog killd, if a gun was involved im sure thats at least another 2 felony charges

Thanks for the update. I am so happy that they are getting their stock back. Maybe all will be recovered. Please keep us posted.

Nathan, Scott, and Kima

I am very glad to hear that this has been partialy resolved, allthough nothing will ever take it away.

I hope the rest of your colleciton is recovered, and I agree that it would be great if the prosecutors go as hard as possible with theese guys.

To this point, I wonder if a letter writting campaign to the city prosecutor might not be in order. If we explain the care, time, and money involved in breeding and careing for reptiles, maybe this combined with the gun charges, and animal cruelty charges, would be enough to get this guy 10 years or more mandatory.

I feel this would be a great message to send to would be low lifes that this sort of thing will not be tolorated by the reptile community as a whole.

I'm so glad to read this news. I hope that the efforts of friends and supporters was instrumental in the results of this investigation. Congrats again to Scott and family.
Maybe the name of this lowdown thief can be shared with us.

Great Job

Glad to hear the good, news, more info, whats the story on the guy, why he did it, who was working with him, etc.... Gossip.

update!!

Well, thanks to some watchful folks on another forum, more geckos were recovered, including the female Nephrurus wheeleri (woohoo!!!). Someone posted a suspicious question regarding the care of knob-tailed gecko eggs on a gecko forum. Some concerned gecko keepers contacted Scott about the post, and Scott passed on the information to the detective on the case. The detective was able to get the address, and the N. wheeleri and several leopard geckos were recovered yesterday. The individual who had the geckos was not arrested since he or she was determined to not be involved in the burglary (I will share my opinion about this later).

More great news!! The thief and his accomplice were busted in Illinois. They were stopped by Illinois police due to a traffic violation, and they confessed to the burglary in Fort Worth. They should be extradited back to Fort Worth soon.

Scott should have a new computer in the next week or so, so he will be "plugged in" again and will be able to respond to emails.

Thank you all for your amazing support.

Great news!!

It's rare when someone actually gets caught doing this type of thing, so I am very happy to hear it!!

See there is a Reptile God...That news just made my day. I think they should do to the thiefs what they did to the dog...TEXAS JUSTICE.....
