It is my humble opinion that a few of these so called "caring" breeders should be subjected to the same conditions they place their animals under their care in.
Then maybe they may get some idea of what they are putting them through!
And yes i fully agree if it had been fed correctly NONE of this may have happened ( after reading the vets report it still may have been a possibility but being starved GUARANTEED a death sentence for this poor animal!)

He's yet to bother saying anything through text, also... I think it's safe to say that he probably will not be returning here, or returning my messages, and he also won't be doing the right thing in this scenario. I was sent an animal on death's door. I refused to send said animal back because I knew that it would be a death sentence, and there was still hope he would of made it. He died less than a week later, and the necropsy further verifies that the issue lies with his practices as a breeder.

My conclusion of what happened with this boa is that he was on less than a minimal care feeding schedule. When his body registered starvation, it deposited the fat reserves to try and sustain the liver's vital functions long enough to endure this famine... When the problem still wasn't rectified, and all fat reserves were used up, the liver couldn't continue doing its job, and assisting with the sustaining of the body, which ultimately led to his demise.

As sad as it is, it's good to know there wasn't an infectious disease as that could have a huge ripple from anyone he sold to and who they sold to etc.

But him starving a baby, or any animal for that matter is disgusting. Why breed if you're not going to take care of them? I'm currently working on my first litter and I'm so excited I can't quit watching my pair. I would never DREAM OF doing this to one of my babies. And I doubt he's going to reply because he already knew the outcome, he knew he starved that baby and when he saw his replies weren't having the desired effect he wanted, making everyone believe him and this was just an unfortunate accident, he stopped. He has no defense for this. All he can do is say yea I screwed up bad, here's your money back, and work to improve the conditions of the animals and MAYBE save what little reputation he's got left (which I personally would never buy from him or the person who defended him, ever)

I'm sorry you lost the boa. It's heartbreaking and disgusting he let it get that way. More than disgusting but I can't think of a good enough word to describe it. At least that baby got to feel the touch of love in his last days...

So many breeders think that if they've been around long enough, they can't make mistakes or end up being a bad guy. Sad to see Jimmy Horton prove that they can. I hope he doesn't just keep ignoring this.

I hate to say it Sarah but I would doubt very much we will hear any more from him on here.
He cant even be bothered to reply directly to the buyer which is disgracefull
He owes her money and now it looks like he is just going to stick his head in the sand and pretend it never happened.
Hopefully this thread will give others pause for thought before they buy from him ever again!

I agree completely. I'm also eagerly awaiting my first clutch, and couldn't imagine doing this to them. If it was a financial issue, I'd half starve myself rather than my babies.

I think it's safe to say he wanted money, at this point, and has no interest in being ethical or reputable. He just wants to sale people dying animals. Should I put up a Bad Guy thread and compile all the information there and a link for the entire discussion here? Also, how about that illegal packaging? Would reporting it to Fedex, so his privileges can be revoked, shine more bad light and enable the HSUS or will it only negatively impact him and not the community? I don't want this coming back on those of us that actually give a crap about our hobby.
