In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Thanks!!!!!!!

Just wanted to thank all of My customers, I hope you all enjoy your new snakes and have a Great time producing offspring from them!!

Just goes to show you dont need 8 ads to sell 20 snakes!!!

No Offense but...

Weren't you upset that people were posting multiple ads and bumping yours down the list. Now you post an Ad "thanking" your customers which is really just a misplaced Ad to further express your unhappiness about the multiple Ads being posted and bumped.
I do understand your point and personally agree. I don't like when 3 yr old threads get bumped up either. However it is just as bad to post a discussion thread in the classifieds to make this point. IMO.
Since this thread is already here I will say that it would be nice if everyone was just a little more courteous and condensed their Ads into as few threads as possible and deleted or at least closed the threads when the animals are no longer available.
Oh well, Just sounding off in the classifieds...LOL.
Rob

Robert, you are absolutly right. those posting 6-8 ads in a row and then bumping them a couple times a day is just plain rude to everyone that posts here. :wavey:

John, Good job.

Still don't mean to offend anybody but...

It may help if you, or someone would start a discussion or a BOI (if appropriate) thread about unnecessarily posting multiple threads and bumping all of them to the top.
Understandably everybody wants to market their animals but some of these post may fall under the definition of trolling.
Hopefully this could be resolved through open discussion and people would realize the difference between marketing and monopolizing! I would hate to see Fauna have to make restrictions on the number of Ads we can post per day, week, or month, not that I post many.
However it only takes a few inconsiderate people without common courtesy to ruin it for everybody.
I do like looking at the pics and you all have nice animals but Brett Boller has 6-7 Ads on the first page and Rick Denmon has 10-11. I hope this doesn't put me on your "do not sell to" list but can't you guys condense your Ads just a little bit.

There is already a thread addressing that subject in the Sound Off forum...feel free to post your thoughts on the topic in that. The subject is not a BOI matter, nor is it (strictly speaking) a violation of any rule. Even the old "shotgun" advertising warning wouldn't really be applicable, if I remember correctly, because that was aimed at people posting across multiple ad categories.
If you are of a mind, it is certainly a topic that could be addressed in the Feedback Forum.

Tempting as it may be to just close this thread, I would prefer not to. Gentlemen, please continue the discussion outside of the classifieds.

btw, as long as I am here...JAS, you said "Just goes to show you dont need 8 ads to sell 20 snakes!!!"
must be nice - seems like lately, I need 20 ads to sell 8 snakes :shootfoot

Hey R.Kelly, When did I say I was unhappy about anything? Please explain your first 2 sentences..

Thanks Ed!

just for the record - you shouldn't be seeing much in the way of those old ads. We have closed the ads that have been inactive x 12 months (and the earlier posted ones that have been dredged up since, when we have noticed them) in most of the categories. Of course, it is an ongoing project, and some might slip through, but the issue has been noted and addressed.

No Offense!

Hey John,
I think I remember you posting a reply on one of your classified Ads saying something like just bumping up because some people aren't courteous enough to consolidate their threads. Then in the beginning of this thread you said just goes to show you don't need 20 Ads to sell 8 snakes.
I apologize if the first was not you, but that is what I believed the second comment to be referring to.
In any case I hope people read this thread and decide to have some common courtesy and consolidate their Ads. If I were to have numerous animals that I was offering up for sale I would consider it to be rude if I were to list each one in its own thread and constantly bump them ttt monopolizing the front page so that all of the other threads could not be found.
I did not intend to upset or offend anybody by my posts in this thread. You have some beautiful animals JAS and I would like to be one of your future customers. I enjoy your threads(and pics) and was just trying to agree with you on this point which you may or may not have been making.
Harald, I have noticed that not many ancient threads were popping out from the archives lately. I just figured we were getting wiser around here...oh well. The 3rd or 4th thread in the Iguana forum is from 05' but that is not a busy place over there. Anyway, Good work. I really enjoy Fauna and did not intend to come off as complaining about the site or the way it is moderated.

There's a big difference between posting a couple of ads and "bumping" them on occasion and posting 10 ads and "bumping" them 3 times a day.

Glad to hear the season is going well for you, John...I think it goes to show that when you have quality animals and a solid reputation, there is no need to keep shoving other people's ads down the list with multiple ads...the customers will find your ad, whether it's at the top or not.

Thanks Cathy! Atleast some of you get My point.....

Hey all
I don't mean to push everybody's adds down. I guess I really never thought about combining my adds. I do like to be able to post several pics per add so my customers can get a good look at the animals for sale. The only suggestion I have is expand the photo attachments on the posts so we can post multiple pics on each animal. Just a thought and I would not dream of adding anyone to my no sale section.

All you need to do is reply to your add and you can add a whole new set of attachments.

Brett posts a lot of his ads in the Alternate Classifieds, which does not allow that option...but it works in the forum based ads. Another option, Brett, would be to use a photo storage site (ie PhotoBucket) and post the IMG codes in the forum based ads. Since they are not attached images which take up server space, you aren't limited in the number you can post. Another bonus of this method is that you can post the images within the body of the text, which allows you to say a little about each snake (see example below). For your ads in the Alternate section, you could post the URL to the photos, and include as many as you want...but from a customer's perspective, that gets tedious.
