In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My little incarnation of the boi. I have built many computers and ordered from hundreds of sites, but i have found 2 businesses that deserve this posting. There probably would be others but these 2 stuck out in my mind and needed to be avoided at all cost's

BzBoyZ.com (also has a crapload of similar sister sites) They sent me a used broken amd processor and billed it as a new oem model. After having to get the BBB on my side, they finally settled and sent me another chip, but was not the exact model that i wanted still. These people seem to be fly by night, they will also call you 2-3 days later to see if you want to upgrade your order to a better one.

Tigersurplus.com I ordered a D.I.Y p2/3 dell kit, to get a doa motherboard, i paid to send it back and i got back a completely different system. It was a socket 7 that would only take a 233 mmx pentium. Their only resolution was to refund me $11. Which was way less than what i paid, and now i was out all the parts for the pc that i did buy too.

Those two sites may seem like they have deals, but i would not ever do business with them ever again.

www.newegg.com bro!! For all your computing needs. Hands down the best place out there to get what you need at a fair price with outstanding customer service.

I have built/repaired PC's for almost 10 years. I have used almost every company known to man. About 3 years ago I started using Newegg and have never looked back. Those folks are like clockwork. When your business relies on quality parts at a fair price that get to you in timely manner, Newegg is the only place online to even consider. I have ordered between $150,000 and $200,000 worth of things from them over the years, literally 100's of different shipments and Newegg has NEVER once screwed me over in any way. The handful of times that something was screwed up during shipping or was defective it was replaced with no hassles and in a very timely matter. These guys ROCK!!

Wow,
Thanks for the warnings, Mike. I am thinking about building a new desktop computer this summer.
I usually use zipzoomfly, tigerdirect or newegg. I had never heard of these other two sites. Couldn't anything be done through your credit card company? Sounds like fraud in both cases to me.
Glad to see someone posting about computers besides me!! :wavey:

Yeah, I have had my runins with Tigersurplus a LONG time ago and learned to avoid them. I've bought a few things off of Ebay now and again and you have NO idea how many times I wished there was a generic Board of Inquiry for all types of businesses. If I thought my heart and head could stand it, I would start my own. I do have BoardofInquiry.com to play with......

Wait a minute Rich,
don't start another BOI. We haven't even decided what flavor of koolade we want yet!! :erm:
I don't think you would get that many of us posting on it anyway. Seems like the computer issues don't get started much or replied to.
Why have another headache?

Yeah, I know. Which is why I haven't done it. But recently I've had to file complaints with Ebay and PayPal about some issues and they basically don't do a thing about it. Then there is some scammer on GunBroker that almost got me on something very recently.

I guess if I ever get mad enough to do something like that, I had better buy a LOT of stock in the companies that make Excedrin and Valium. :>poke2<:

zipzoomfly, tiger direct, and new egg are all good people. Could have bought a real nice house with all the money they have got off me in the years.

Justdeals.com is also a awesome place for refurb logitech devices. Anything logitech 30-50+% off sticker price normally. I never had a problem with anything i have got from there.

Oh, and one more thing. If any of you get your pc's repaired at shops in columbus ohio BE WEARY of downtown pc's and Krazy Kenny's Custom Computers. My father brought his pc's there and due to utter incompetence of them destroyed them. This is what made me fear shops and learn pc repair :)

I hadn't thought about JustDeals, Inc. I usually try to deal with them through ebay. The shipping is usually cheaper that way and I snag several items at once. I figure it is always good to have an extra mouse or two around. I don't know how many mice, speakers, etc. I have given to others purchased from them!

JustDeals has been doing free shipping for months now. I hated buying from them before, i would drop like $500 at a time then, just to save money on shipping.
