• In case most of you have not noticed, I made changes to the donation amounts as well as the durations for all of the paid membership levels. Things are winding down here, and this seems to be the most prudent way to deal with the "end of life" period of this site.

Contributor level members - $10 per 30 days
    Sponsors - Eliminated
Benefactor level members - $25 per 30 days
Endowment level members - $50 per 30 days

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Sunday was a rainy day here, so I decided to take a look at the paid membership stats and figures to see what they looked like. I only took into account the yearly paid memberships from November, 2025 thru July, 2026 that were still active as I figure they would be a good yardstick to measure the trend my gut has been feeling. What I did was to prorate each person's contribution based on dividing their payment by 12 and then figuring out that if I were to close this site down on every subsequent month starting with December, how much would I owe as refunds for those contributors. Now I am not really a math whiz, so perhaps I made some fundamental errors in the spreadsheet. But it seems accurate enough to me. I would think that if the contributions had remained steadily constant even through that time period, then the amount of the refunds for each month would also remain constant. But it soon became apparent that this certainly was not the case. So, no joy there. Which has confirmed the gut feeling I had back in August when I went to only monthly contributions instead of yearly. There was a notable and obvious decline in contributions, trending to become even worse. So apparently my decision that I was quickly heading into the red with this site was sound. And truth be known, I believe I am operating in the red right now, but it would be adding insult to injury to have to send out so many refunds if I closed the site down right now.

So I compared each monthly refund total with the cost of the server I lease to run this site on. And I discovered that on May, 2027 I would be paying more for the server lease than what it would cost me to refund all outstanding paid memberships. Originally I was planning on shutting this site down on August 1, 2027. Obviously that goal post has moved closer now. Of course, there is always the remote possibility that paid memberships could increase to cause me to change my mind, but I am certainly not holding my breath over that thought. Heck, honestly, I just don't really care either way. I have brought this potential up many times in the past, so now my prediction has become reality. On April 1, 2027 I will be terminating all paid memberships. On May 1, 2027, or thereabouts, depending on when my server lease billing cycle is, I will be terminating the lease for my server. As soon as the current month's server lease at that time expires, and the server people pull the plug on the server, FaunaClassifieds will be no more.

So if there is the unlikely possibility that there is information here you would like to retain, capture and save it before that time. When the plug gets pulled on the server, there will be no way to recover any of it. It will be PERMANENTLY gone.

To the people who enjoyed using this site enough to financially support it, thank you. Sorry it wasn't enough, but your efforts, support, and consideration are deeply appreciated.

To the people who thought I would just keep doing this forever, reaching into my own pockets to pay for it so you could offer your animals and merchandise for sale here for all eternity, sorry about that. A bit unrealistic plan, wasn't it? Well, there are a few other sites out there you can go to. Good luck in your endeavors.

I have been assimilated by the Borg of Facebook, and that is enough internet interaction for me. There is nothing of interest to me here any longer.

Sales and information seldom coexist and sales usually wins out. And it's hard to sell information today, nearly impossible to do because of the internet, despite misinformation abounding. But, if you could....

Yes, true. Everyone loves a free lunch. And with all the distractions and siren songs of the bells and whistles of new sites and new methods of interacting on the web, loyalty is a thing of the past. Kind of bittersweet in a humorous sense that I had been willing to go to court to defend people's ability to get the truth out on the BOI about a raw deal they had been handed. Well, a lesson learned, and one that others should take to heart.
