In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Sometimes, our lives change.. things that were important once, no longer hold value. the skates and little red wagons of childhood give way to a ten speed bike; and this in turn gives way to, perhaps, a sports car or some other grown up toy.

Somethings hold their value forever. Friends, relationships, and things that have over the years become truly important.

To you, what are the durable, lasting things in life?

Family is VERY important; I separated the 'spouse' and 'children' posts because some people, like me, do not have both; but of course you are right this leaves out parents and other family. I am glad you mentioned that because I love and respect my father.

Here's how I would list them as they apply to me.

1. God (eventhough I don't "walk" the walk all the time this is #1)
2. Spouse, sig other, and children (eventhough I have none)
3. HEALTH (not listed-if you haven't got health you haven't got anything, unless you are lucky enough to have 1 and 2)
4. Reptiles
5. Country ( I would move to another if there was ever a ban-the way I see it) Patriotism is important. One's homeland grants every citizen within a political identity. This is important, but not as important as the other things listed above.

Truth is important all the time. It's fusion is displayed in one's priorities.

Best friends are important, but if you have all of the above, what else do you need?

Freedom - an ideology dictated to us by our governments, but ultimately all who live must decide how free they want to be.

Beauty-HA! Like I have to try! lol

*Honorable mentions
Pet Rock
Blue Bell Ice Cream - the "chocolate" families :)

Sean hun I am going to disagree with your take on freedom. It isn't something the government gives you, it is a state of mind, and can only be surrendered, never taken. A person or government may be able to imprison my body, but my mind will always be free as long I determine it to be. The rest I can roll with :) especially the chocolate.

Family would definitely be at the top of my list- my parents and brother have been the one constant in my life that I could depend on, and they know they can depend on me. My son is included of course, but at 6, there's not much I can depend on him for besides chaos. :D

Nonsense Shannon...you can depend on him to provide you with funny stories for years to come! He is at the age they tend to do the goofiest, funniest, and silliest things that you will someday tell his girlfriend, much to his embarassment. I know I have a few good ones to tell when my son starts dating someday LOL (Right now he is 11 and still thinks of girls as just people to talk to-sometimes!)

Aw, honeybun....I said

It's mind over matter. Ever see "Braveheart"? Lot's of talk about "Freedom". :D It's definitely a mental decision.

Thank God I've lived long enough to leave the material things off the list!

My honor, my husband, my children, my grandchildren, my siblings, my health, my animals, my friends.

My quality of life. Not necessarily material things, but the little joys that keep things in perspective: the peace of the lake, finding a speckled kingsnake coiled up in a lawn chair on my front porch, teaching my dog to fetch, closing a deal at the office, sitting in just the right spot to watch the hummingbirds at the feeder while I have my coffee, getting to watch a really good thunderstorm from the comfort of a covered porch (great view and you can smell the rain, but stay dry!), finally getting a recipe JUST the way you want it.....

It's all what you make it....

simple ?

As long as I have my beutiful wife Kris and three kids healthy and happy nothing else can touch me

my family to me is everything, every thing else come a far second.

Sean,

If you weren't in Texas, I'd be conniving and finagling a way to introduce you to my oldest daughter! If you decide to move to the Ozarks, promise to let me know first, ok?

My boas are forever one that wasnt on the list my Harley and most recently Lucille :crazy03: She is one of kind she makes me smile and I'm proud to call you friend :crazy03: Side note Im not your new stalker I just admire your spunk :D

Blush....I just saw how many people actually voted my name on the poll.....thank you, I don't know what to say.....

I think being true to myself has always been important to me. Keeping with my morals/values, without being drawn into the traps of peer or social pressures (or at least being able to break free of them and return to how i really am).

Family isn't as high on my list as it really should be. They weren't there when i needed them most and in a way still aren't. Still a bit of resentment there as you can see.

Spirituallity is high on my list. Again that goes back to being true to myself. Its not about religion for me and i don't feel i need to share what i believe for it to be justified.

Learning something everyday is also very important to me. As much as material things are also important (my own house is tops on that list) i believe that all we take with us when we leave this life is what we learn, our experiences. So i try to take in as much as i can.

Making someone smile, its something i simply enjoy doing. On days when things are just in the dumps i always feel better when someone smiles at me or says something nice.

Leigh :)

I chose truth, beauty, and freedom; the things that are subjective.

We all have our own perception of beauty, as is only right. I can find beauty anywhere, I just have to remember to look. Then I look to remember, for I might lose my sight someday.

Truth should be self explanatory. Without it there are no definites, no boundaries, no reasons to be. Utter and total chaos....kind of like *HELL* here. But we have discussed this on another thread.

Freedom is everything. Freedom is your ability to think. It is the brain that allows one to choose, and what we choose makes up who we are. We choose to believe, to see, to hear, to act/react, without our minds we are at the mercy of those who do have control of their faculties. Freedom is subjective. Freedom is a choice. Everything on that list is a choice, and one that someone out there has discarded as useless and unnecessary to them. That is their freedom as well.

Everything else on that list (with the exception of god...but I do not discuss spirituality as I consider that to be extremely personal) can be lost so easily. Even family.

I chose blue bell ice cream although i have to substitute in the Carvel brand. MMM ice cream. :raspberry

Is this before or after consuming the Kool-aide?

That would be both. I also like to combine the kool-aid and ice cream together so I can get a mind altering brain freeze double whammy. :hehe:
