In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

the "new" look....

New Format

I am not sure how I feel about the new set-up. It is like anything else...

You need to get used to it.

I have never in my life done something that pleased absolutely everyone, so this was certainly not expected to be an exception.

So what exactly is it that you don't like about the new version? I did this upgrade on both my CornSnakes.com and ArmsLocker.com forums first and they both went without a hitch and no real complaints that I recall. Matter of fact, I think most people didn't even notice much of a change.

But you might as well get used to it, because there is no way it is going to roll back to the old version.

Webslave, I don't mind the new format at all really. With my old, very old monitor it is actually easier to read the posts. My only dislike is the length of time it now takes to load each page. Not your fault by any means however. I have an older system and any upgrade to sites or programs don't go over well. Just means i'll have to log on with my families new computer, no biggy.

Once i get working again i'll have to invest in a new computer :) something i want to do anyways. I commend you for being able to keep up with this site. Its so extensive i'm amazed, it must be a full time job :)

Hmm, interesting. I actually thought this new version loaded FASTER then the old system. I actually disabled a compression algorithm in the code because I didn't feel it was necessary,

Anyone else notice any differences in speed?

I have noticed it has sped up considerably. I am at work right now and use this connection as my bechmark as it is usually slow here. Now it loads just as fast as my home connection.

I'm pretty sure its just my system. Next time i log on i'll do so on the new computer and see if its better there.

Personally i think this one has reached its end....lol.......hopefully it doesn't completely go on my before i can transer all of my files :)

I agree...

with dan, i don't like the new change- theres too much space and it also looks wierd  I think this place should have stayed the same; although I do like some of the new features.

I don't see a significant change in overall appearance. Most certainly not enough of a change to warrant complaints.

Pages are loading just as fast, if not faster, for me. My computer is not exactly state-of-the-art, either.

More than likely, by the time you have visited the site 2 or 3 times, you'll forget what the old version even looked like.

Like anything new, it takes some getting used to, and there's going to be some bumps in the road. All in all though, I like the new look and feel. On the moderator end of things, I've noticed a plethora of new useful features.

Of course, not everyone's going to be happy with the change, nor would I expect them to be. However, form needs to follow function, and the new version of vBulletin introduces all kinds of new functionality to the site.

Click around for awhile, and it will grow on you.

I think the site looks great. The color layout is very similar to the old version so it’s not too much to get used to. One thing I really like is when there’s a new post the thread title is put in bold. It makes it much easier to track down new posts.

I’ve noticed the new version is significantly faster. I have a cable connection and with the old version it hung up a little when posting. Now it just pops up.

Just give it time everyone, you’ll get used to it. :D

new format

Personally, I really like the new format! As with anything, it will take a little time to learn all the new bells & whistles, and memorize where things are now. Just like getting a new car... it takes a little while before you know where to find the light switch, the radio push-buttons, heater and A/C controls, and where the windshield wipers are. (Once you have hit the squirt button and ruined your flawless new windshield!) After that, it just becomes automatic, and you can even do it at night without having to look!

Overall, I like the ability to be able to just highlight the words to 'bold' or 'italicise' them more easily, the new threads and/or posts are in bold, the posters name doesn't take up an entire column, the control panel is much more straight forward and simplified, and there is more versatility in general. I think it loads much faster, and seems to be more efficient.

Thank you, Webslave! I think the transition was very smooth.

I wish it was loading faster on my end. Theres definetly something wrong with my computer. I'll have to start using the other computer for now until i can figure out whats going on with this one.

Perhaps its time to format and start from scratch again.

I do like the new look, no doubt.

Screen Settings/ computer help

I noticed that now when I visit the site(since the new software was installed) my screen does not automatically adjust to the correct "width" as it did before. I now not only have to scroll down ( which is normal) but I have to scroll to the right if I want to see the entire page/post. When viewing posts everyting beyond the the subject line I can not see unless I scroll over. Is this something that I have to change with my PC? I am sure the problem is on my end, I am i making sense....?? :shrug01: Does anyone know what I am taking about and/or how to fix it? I am computer illiterate (did I spell that right? haha)

Thanks
Tracey

I personally cannot even remember the old system. I love this new one though, and I love some of the new features.
I have also noticed an increase in speed on the site.
Thanks for the upgrade Rich, I'm sure you work hard to keep this up.
