Emphasis on the word "Each", having it in one message on a two (so far) page thread doesn't really seem to comply...

Mario, you might want to alter your signature on this site to include your full name, first AND last or your messages do stand a good chance of being deleted. After you took the time to type all that out, it would be a shame if it were to dissapear over a small matter like that... Adding it into the signature changes it for every message you have written so far, which allows you to comply easily with the rules of the board.

And you do know how important it is to comply with the rules of a board, right?

I have to admit that after reading Mario's lengthy diatribe twice, I was unable to really follow what he was saying.
 
Would someone PLEASE mind translating that from whatever language it's in into English or at least Spanish or German? Or even Japanese would be easier for me to understand than THAT. I honestly had to stop reading after the second paragraph because I left my secret decoder ring by the slide at the playground.
 
okokokok i HAVE to step in and say a few things here. For those of you that do not know, I am the other administrator at the Herpetologist's Gecko Forums. There has been alot of tension on the forum lately between Steven and Mario. I have tried to remain as neutral in the situation as possible because both of these guys are what i consider friends. For those of you ~STEVEN INCLUDED~ that are bashing Mario's typing skills, I know for a fact that Mario IS dyslexic, and if you cannot think of any other reasons to badmouth him, sorry to let you know the bad typing is old old old news that really has nothing to do with this whole ordeal.

I have to frown at Steve (WWF) for even posting this outside of our forum. Personal conflicts like this should be resolved in private and not yelled out on other peoples forums. Technically this has nothing to do with business practices, or any other thing that should be on the BOI. Basically, if stubborn pride wouldnt have gotten in the way of either of these young men, then there would be NO problem whatsoever! Now skeletons are being yanked from each other's closets, and lots of bad things are being said.

So to sum up the whole problem here, HGF is mine and Mario's forum. Back in October 02 GeckoFreak and GeckoNetwork merged to bring the public this new forum and all its great features. Mario is the brains behind the forum, the programming, and all the technical stuff. So in other words, it is HIS forum. I am just along for the ride and my contributions. Anyways back to what i was saying, it is HIS forum and even i abide by HIS rules, and thats all there is to it. I give him MY ideas, but if HE doesnt approve, they dont go, and its NO BIG DEAL to me. So if Mario wanted the topic moved, that's his decision. He is the admin so what is there to argue about? Its like telling your boss "this is how it is!"

We also worked hard to think up the most appropriate catagories to go on our forum. Is it so hard for people to understand how to organize thier thoughts?! I admire WebSlave for keeping this forum so neat and organized, yet we are critisized for the same thing back on HGF.

Privately i have talked with both Steve and Mario about this whole issue, and i have agreed with both of them on thier points. This whole thing is going too far with being publically announced. We have lost a few very valuable members on our forum over this whole thing. I truely hope that those who have left will not carry bad feelings towards us, as this was their decision. The nasty emails that are being joked about (YES i know about them) need to stop, and you... no WE all need to grow up about this guys. Stop laughing at each other, and stop trying to ruin each other names.

that post really didn't say much as to the issue of why i was banned. I was banned 5 days after this happened, and i never overrode anything Mario did. I debated with him what the purpose of the individual forums are and how they are to be enforced, but i never overrode his actions. I notified him as to why I chose a certain moderation technique, and he didn't care. He isn't going to keep members if he can't be flexible enough to moderate for the users as opposed to for himself.


As for the "emails" that are going around. Mario has sent emails to various people that have left the forum over this incident, claiming that I have been attempting to overrule him from day 1 and that I do nothing but attack Mario and Rakell and criticize their actions. It's funny then, that I'm on the waiting list for some very expensive animals from Rakell.

As you can guess from Mario's writing here, his emails are quite comical and have managed to be passed around as humour.


I only find humour in knowing that he is not being taken seriously. His accusations are quite inflammatory otherwise.
 
........as with Mario mentioning that Steve had been trolling, i can verify that. There has been alot of hate and discontent caused on other forums, not just ours..... In fact, this may (or may not, i dunno) be the whole reason GE shut down....
 
I don't even know where to begin defending accussations that there is no way of verifying in either direction. Geckoexpert closed down largely due to multiple users trolling under false names. When Geckonetwork and Geckoexpert were merged, I was removed from my moderator status at Geckoexpert. When Geckonetwork launched I was made global moderator.

If the claim that I was trolling from before day 1 is true, why would I be given a position of "power" that would allow me to have my so called power-trip and undermine Mario?

That is probably the best I can offer in my self defense, but I feel it is much better than what has been displayed against me.
 
OK, I'm at a loss about this thread and what to do with it. It's really not a BOI issue since the way someone runs a message board is not really a bad guy/good guy issue. And I admit it was my decision to move it here, but the forum it started out in was even less appropriate for it.

But there already is a history here from other message board owners (JoeP and JeffB are two examples that come immediately to mind). So I have no idea where to move it. So this is just for the record and does not need comment outside of perhaps a private message or email if anyone has any suggestions. I can certainly create yet another forum for website issues, but I'd rather figure out where to fit this in the current scheme of things first.

I wasn't the one to move it, and most of the moderators here do make it policy to notify posters of changes they make. However, you know full well that you were in the wrong, you even admitted it when you were posting.

For future reference, we do have a section called "Share Photos" which is for off topic pictures. I noticed that that is where your thread was rightfully moved.

Placement in a less frequented section will not reduce exposure, all active threads are readily viewable from the main forum page.

that is what is so cool about the admin here. He keeps things in private. Waxworm. You do not need to go to a forum that considered you an enemy from the very begginning. Why don't you just sit back and participate in the forums here. You are very welcome here and we do not cosider you an enemy.

Well I am quite hurt that my biggest aliaby did not pull through for me.
So I am no longer able to protect anyone. I am truly hurt by this. She is so scared cause Steve’s crap.

We both new about Steve doing this trolling. As far as I am aware, I did not know till after he started. You know I am flat out laying it all out on the line. Im posting everything as I find it. But hell, I shared everything with Rakell. I mean everything. This board has got people so damn scared to even speak. Now I lay it all out. People clam up.
This is not just some personal thing as was portrayed. This is more then pride I mean hell. Steve came on here and attacked me. That’s called being defensive.
I merged with Rakell and her site to help end the crap that was happening on these other forums. I have also always given Kell the opportunity so make decisions. Generally she just leaves them up to me. While ya, technically its my forum, I do try to run it like both of ours. She has helped craft it to what it is. We merged them together to bring a forum that would be cross website.
While yes, Im sure their were some stances I was firm on, but I always took her input. Almost everything their did evolve around both of our inputs behind the scenes.
The categories were actually in help with one of our other moderators their. He has helped greatly to shape the forum. The original layout of forums was actually changed because of these suggestions. So I cannot take full credit for the way it is set up. I am just trying to give credit where credit is due.
She is right though about one thing, this whole thing has went way out of control. And the matters should not have been a public dispute. This is because obviously Steve is trying to harm the forum. I wish she could see that.
I know we have probably lost two valuable members, one was a mod, one of Steve’s friends, and a member on which Steve was abusive too. I’m not sure if we lost anyone else from all this.
I would also like to know more about these nasty emails. Hell I thought my sources were telling me everything. Now I don’t know. This is why I wanted transcripts of the convo’s involved which were conveniently lost.
This is very sad to see this happen. I am so lost and confuses.
I was trying to find some copy’s of the posts where Steve was trolling the GE board. I am still looking. But I don’t think I have them. I think this scared Rakell off to cover her own ass out of this mess. I don’t know. I am though terribly hurt.
But neither one of us were happy with the way Steve was doing on GE.
Geckonetwork and Geckoexpert has never had any kind of a merger. Hell, I couldn’t even get a link. Im sure I can pull up emails to prove nothing but problems between us the two of our sites.
And yes, Steve was pulled from his Moderator status on their. That’s because the bad job he was doing. Probably cause they possibly new we was up to something. I do know Steve was acting like Cody’s friend to get in good with their.
But the first time moderator positions were even offered I was refused. I knew I would be. I just had to apply just to prevent them saying I never applied. So I pushed in support of Kell to get it. That was what we needed to be able to examine how things were being done, who the problems where and see how are suspensions held. She did get it.
I do remember one person getting it after reporting a other member about something from something we encountered in chat. I cant remember if this was WWF(Steve) or not.
But needless to say, When their forums went down (supposedly), Many mods were relieved of their duty including Steve. For a while their were none. The forum was quickly going down hill. But to my surprises Kell was all excited and had me log on. Me and her where the only moderators. This was after I had started my heavy competitive campaign on these forums. I figured what the hell, it gives me the opportunity to compare logs and such and find the trouble makers. And yes, I did moderate the forum. I would say this was the only time that forum was properly moderated as well, until Steve started trolling. I didn’t know how to take it when I found out. But I explained that in the original long post. Anyways steve was set out to destroy them. Actually I wanted to show them what true competition was and have them sink their own ship. Well one day they were just no more. Many people think it was just a way to hide all the evidence. Who knows, But I did loose info I wanted to keep. Such as PM’s from Cody that apologized for what he did to me and not making me mod and stating maybe he was a little greedy. This actually did mean a lot to me as well as also being a conquest. I showed that people will not stand for this. I was one of the people their that did fight for what I felt was right. I was the one that put fear in the admins eye’s, lol. Well I at least kept them on their toes. Cause I stood up for what I believed. And I did end up with Mod status and a apology for the crap that went on.
Anyways, Steve was banned form mod status their as well.
It was actually my push to make him a Mod on my forum. I couldn’t give him access to my site because of security and hosting issues, so I talked Kell into letting him moderate and explained that what better way to keep him off our back’s. That’s the one thing I can think of off hand on where I used my decisions as a push. Actually she didn’t want Steve as a mod. Steve is too much of a risk. He was informed of things on a need to know basis.

But in looking for copy’s of the forums which I probably have to start searching through cd backups (again have a bad feeling about finding much info), I did run into some messenger transcripts.

What do you get out of attempting, and in some cases, succeeding to insult and emotionally harm people? Is that how you get off, by making other people feel bad? What are you trying to achieve by putting people down, and spamming a forum board? Don't you have anything better with your life to do? Now, if this is your only recreation, maybe you should find an after-school recreation/another job (since I am unsure of your age, but I can guess due to your maturity level). and you were moderating the competition.

Ok, this was a question i had asked mario about posting the url to my site/our forum on Kingsnake, not as a spam, but as a reference in a reply post i was making. I didnt know if it crossed the lines at kingsnake or not, but after checking around, the url was never posted.
 
Ritchie, you forget to add that

a) I am being accused of trolling an old forum with no proof, as well as a current forum, by the admin, still with no proof. Typed up chat logs prove only that someone has the time to type them.
He is trying to prove that I trolled a board at his encouragement and then was made a mod of his forum who continued to troll until this very day, where I finally decided to lay it on the line and overrule him by keeping things peaceful. Something doesn't add up. Frankly, I have no reason to deny or acknowledge anything because Mario is proving my case.

b) not only was I attacked in public, but I was banned before I could reply. I can no longer even see the GN forums if I wanted to. (oh and no, I didn't post here until after I was notified that I was being banned..)

" GN lost these members and others because of Mario's moderating decisions, not mine. Mario removed another moderator's priveleges because that individual spoke up about the lack of respect he was being given regarding the issue. Mario then sent a long email insulting me and telling the person why it is wrong to go against him simply because of friendship to me.



Anyway, as for placement of this thread. I don't know... I wanted to rant to my friends here and I posted it as such. I did not intend for it to be moved to the BOI and become the latest scandal. I was in a cut my losses and run mode. GN is no big loss. I just felt the need to rant about how I was treated and felt dissallusioned as a result.
 
Im sorry but moving this would be against his own policy.

I asked to have a part that was ilrelevent to what was at hand but to protect somone that should not have some info publick to have it deleated.

One of the main pillars supporting what I have been building with the BOI is that I make every effort to not intrude. I do not edit people's messages, and I do not delete anything that is not in violation of the rules. What is posted in the BOI is effectively as the spoken word in a crowd. You cannot withdraw what you have said. Nor can anyone withdraw it for you after the fact. No one is going to clean up he mess afterwards, so you need to think clearly and succinctly about what you have typed BEFORE you hit that 'submit button'.

People know this and they respect it. They also know that whatever they read here is EXACTLY what the person posting it has said. I am sorry, but I cannot violate my own rules and ethical position by doing what you are asking of me. I have been threatened with lawsuits to delete messages. I have had people ask me to delete messages that THEY were going to be sued over unless I deleted them. I had no choice but to refuse to do so.

I am sorry, but I have to stick to my guns through thick or thin.

Just for the record,Steve RGR left on hisown terms. I simply told what happened. Actually I asked him not to leave.

You know, Mario, I saw that post. I did not find anything wrong or offensive with it. As the assigned LEOPARD GECKO FORUM MODERATOR I made the decision to leave it there when I saw it since the person that was mentioned as the guest speaker is also a leopard gecko breeders. I fully appreciated the notification since I do not spend that much time on KS.

The fact that the person that originally posted the comments then reposted them when they were discovered missing was a normal reaction. Steve's attempt to MODERATE the situation by moving it with a ghost to the original was a fair and equitable way to MODERATE.

As far as this person having never posted before, why is that a problem? A person has to start posting some time, no? Just because it was this type of post should not be a factor in how they are dealt with. Do we have a one strike rule as well now?

As the LEOPARD GECKO FORUM MODERATOR why wasn't I made aware of the situation? Isn't that what you "pay" me to do?

Considering the recent events, I do not feel I can opperate in this type of environment. This is supposed to be a fun and relaxing activity. You have turned it into a chest thumping, iron rule dictatorship.

Maybe KS is not that bad after all?
