In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

the problem with fauna!!

i just recieved negative karma points for posting a good guy post about someone. yes the person is a subject of many debates on this stie but i simply shared my experience and some LAMEO decied to give me negative karma points for it.

the entire karma thing is completely stupid. people get upset because you don't agree with them so they give you negative points. even when you are just posting your opinions which is what these forums are for.

By giving you that Karma, they are just expressing their opinion. There is a certain amount of freedom of opinion here on this site and if you think you have a right to your opinion, don't you think they have a right to theirs as well, even if you don't agree?.

If you think the karma thing is stupid, don't obsess on whatever points you get.

People can give (positive) karma because they thought a post was especially good (funny, helpful, etc); or they can give (negative) karma for a post they think is particularly bad (in poor taste, annoying, whatever). Many sites have something similar in place for patting someone on the back - though I don't know how common it is to have a negative feature, as well (I don't bother with the other sites much).
Some people choose to utilize the system a lot, others are more selective...and some disregard it entirely. Posting on topics that people have strong feelings often gets more karma - one way or the other, lol. While I don't personally agree with giving negative karma because somebody posts favorably about an unpopular business, the solution isn't simple.

Positive karma adds up quicker than negative, so a couple of good posts can make a big difference. In the mean time, don't worry too much about it.

Yeah, there's always going to be somebody, period, no matter where you go or what you do.

I'm on a couple other vbulletin forums and they both have "karma" or "reputation" that goes both ways, good and bad.

Hehe, get a paid membership and you can see who gave you karma :)

Its true! A paid membership would allow you to see who gave you the negative karma. I dont suggest retaliating though, as that is against the rules to abuse the karma system. ( Last i knew! )

Funny - I don't see any karma from Victor Rivera...were you just guessing at that? Feel free to PM me with a copy/paste of that line from your "karma report". (I'm not sure why I felt compelled to look, but making false assumptions about who gives karma and why is fairly common)

Maybe Mr. Rivera is abusing the system for retaliation?
Like everyone else has said, don't worry too much about it--as long as you really are a good guy, the GOOD karma will outweigh the bad!

is that better?

Actually, no - because from what I can see, the lmfaOOOO comment was not posted by Victor Rivera...and what you just posted shows the thread titles NOT who gave you karma. Just to go one step further - what is the color of the block next to the one you are attributing to Victor (red, green, or grey)?

its more of a purplish color which i guess you're referring to as grey.

I doubt any of the moderators are going to worry too much about such things. But if one does have the interest and time on their hands, yes, you could get yourself in trouble. If someone does get especially abusive my solution is to just nuke them with negative points and make them unable to give ANYONE points any longer. It will take someone a LONG time to climb out of a hole of -300 karma points.

I wish the system had an easier method to just disable individual members, but such does not seem to be the case.

Bradley,
The reason I asked is that I can't see whether karma was positive or negative, nor can I see the post for which it was given....all I can see is who gave it, the date, and the comment left. I don't know why that one didn't show as red or green, as the user has a reputation level that should have resulted in karma; but Victor has not left anything there.

here is the screenshot... though it shouldve been saved as a bigger image. but nonetheless....

Understood.
You got 1 positive, and 2 blanks (no change in your reputation/karma level). As mentioned in PM, the grey boxes indicate that the user didn't have karma to give - ie. too new, already negative, or whatever reason. Your membership level doesn't show who gave karma, only the post it was given for (click on the thread title, and you will be brought to the post).

HAHA, I left you that, the Victor Rivera part is referring to the post it was granted for.

nope.
You left him karma for his post in the "Looking for venomous in..." thread.
The Victor Rivera thread was somebody else.

Well, that's what I meant, it was two thoughts without a period in between them. I'll try to punctuate more. lol
