    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THERE HAS BEEN SOME RUMORS POSTED ON THE NET ABOUT MY DEALINGS WITH JEFF SCHOFFIELD.I HAVE BEEN IN THIS HOBBY MY WHOLE LIFE AND HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH SUCH A PERSON IN THIS TIME.I HAVE BEEN SELLING ON THE NET FOR A YEAR OR SO NOW AND HE IS THE ONLY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER I HAVE HAD.SO HERES THE REAL STORY.
JEFF CONTACTED ME ABOUT SOME SNAKES I HAD FOR SALE.HE REALY WANTED THEM BUT DID NOT WANT TO PAY THE ASKING PRICE.FINALY I CUT THE PRICE TO WHAT HE WANTED WE DISCUSSED SHIPPING AND MY GAURANTE AND POLICIES.WHICH ARE AS FOLLOWS.LIVE ARIVAL GAURANTE PROVIDED THAT SOMEONE IS HOME TO SIGN FOR THE ANIMALS WHEN THEY ARIVE I DO NOT AND HAVE NOT EVER GAURANTEED AGAINST CARRIER ERRORS.ANYWAYS UPS LOST THE PACKAGE IN HIS HOMETOWN I ASKED HIM TO GO TO THE UPS OFFICE AND LOOK FOR IT HE SAID IT WAS TOO FAR AWAY ACROSS TOWN.I DID NOT HERE BACK FROM HIM TILL THE NEXT AFTERNOON WHEN HE SAID THEY DID NOT ARIVE.I STARTED CALLING AND TRYING TO LOCATE THEM.THE MANAGER SAID HE THOUGHT THEY HAD BEEN LEFT ON THE LOADING RAMP BY MISTAKE AND THAT THE CLEANING LADY MUST HAVE TROWN THEM OUT.I HAD THE MANAGER OF THE OFFICE GO AND DIG THROUGH THE TRASH HE SAID HE DID'NT FIND ANYTHING.I HAVE OFFERED TO SEND HIM MORE BABYS THIS SPRING WHEN I HAVE MORE WHICH IS MORE THAN ANYONE HAS EVER DONE FOR ME.ANYWAYS HES BEEN ON THE NET POSTING THAT I HAVE RIPPED HIM OFF DID NOT SEND THE SNAKES.I AM A VERY REPUTABLE SELLER I ONLY SELL QUALITY ANIMALS.BUT I AM ALSO A HOBBYIST WHO IS OUT OF WORK AND TRYING TO GET BY.YES I DO HAVE STUFF FOR SALE RIGHT NOW BUT I HAVE TO SELL THEM TP GET BY UNTILL I CAN GET BACK TO WORK.ANYWAYS I FEEL HE SHOULD BE HARASSING UPS NOT ME I DID MY PART ANDWE BOTH TOOK A LOSS UPS IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAME OUT GOOD ON THIS SITUATION.I'M NOT SAYING JEFF IS A BAD PERSON I JUST THINK HE IS GOING ABOUT THIS ALL WRONG HE SHOULD BE AFTER UPS NOT ME.

Why don't you post the tracking number for the package.  I actually haven't heard of this particular situation until now, and I don't know who either one of you are, but we will need something a little more substantial than what you have provided.

I just got off the phone with the ups office in his hometown and they told me he had went and looked through the dumpster.They did not know if he found anything but he had been selling the same type of hognose on kingsnake that i sent him.So for all I know he found them and is just trying to get money from me.Since I last emailed him two nights ago still offering to help him out he has not replied.Now someone calling themselfs Natasha is claimng they are the person that did not get there snakes.Anyways I'mm waiting to hear from him so I can find out what is going on.Oh yeah he denied posting this message on the net.

Just out of curiosity, why did you ship them second day air?
I took the tracking # and checked it out online and it says it
"THE PACKAGE WAS DAMAGED IN TRANSIT;ALL MERCHANDISE DISCARDED"

If it was damaged, ups should reimburse you.

It tells you who to contact and what to do if it arrives damages, or just doesn't arrive at all.
Even though they dont guarantee live arrival on reptiles, if you can prove how much it was worth, they should reimburse you b/c they damaged the package and its contents were discarded.


Keep us informed on what happens.

It will be very difficult to prove how much the contents was worth as you can't tell UPS "X" amount of snakes at "X" $ a piece, as their regulations clearly state they do not ship live snakes.

But every package shipped through UPS is authomatically insured for $100 (you have the option of buying more insurance). So you will not be in a complete loss if in effect the package was lost or damaged.

Whatever the approach, you would probably be better off not claiming because of the loss of the snakes, but just because of a "damaged" shipment. If you claim the snakes, it was you that was at fault in the first place, as their regulations clearly state they do not ship snakes and they might not even cover the standard $100.

AS FOR THEM BEING SENT SECOND DAY AIR THAT WAS ANOTHER MISTAKE ON THERE PART.I HAVE SHIPPED WITH THEM SO MANY TIMES THAT THEY USUALY JUST TAKE THE ADRESS FROM ME FILL OUT THERE PAPERWORK AND BILL ME WHEN I COME IN NEXT TIME.APARENTLY A NEW EMPLOYE HANDLED THEM THIS TIME AND SENT THEM THIS WAY.I DI NOT FIND THIS OUT UNTILL AFTER THE FACT OF US CALLING AND THEM SAYING THEY DID NOT KNOW WHERE THE PACKAGE WAS.I NEVER SEND ANYTHING SECOND DAY IT'S NOT WORTH THE RISK TO SAVE A COUPLE OF BUCKS.AS FAR AS SHIPPING THE ANIMALS .WE SPENT THREE DAYS ON THE PHONE WITH UPS TO GET APROVAL TO SHIP THEM.ONE OF MY FRIENDS IS PERSONAL FRIENDS WITH THE MAB WHO RUNS THE MAIL BOXES ETC. Sam,

It's the responsibility of the seller and not the buyer to make sure the animals arrive in good health and in the time-frame agreed. The seller's obligation does not end when the animals are dropped at the carrier's depot or picked-up at his place, but actually when they reach the buyer's hands.

I would just like to say to anyone that has read anything bad about S and M reptiles,  SAM IS A GREAT GUY! I have done several trades with Sam and he has ALWAYS sent top-grade animals that are fat, healthy, and everything else he has claimed them to be.  He is one of the ONLY people I have done business with that have never failed to send animals that were entirely TOP NOTCH! Never have I ever gotten bad surprises with this guy(but I have gotten very nice surprises).  HE has thrown in extra animals,shipped exactly when he said he was going to, and has ALWAYS BEEN HONEST AND STRAIGHT FORWARD.  I WOULD RECOMMEND PEOPLE TO DO BUSINESS WITH HIM ANY CHANCE THEY GET!  Very few people meet this description.  I will continue to do business with him every chance I get.

OH yeah, and as for the sender/reciever responsibilities.  I KNOW OF NO ONE THAT WILL COVER A CARRIER's MISTAKE.  MOST OF THE DEALERS STATE THEY WON't COVER THE MISTAKES OF THE CARRIERS, SINCE THE SENDER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE IF THEY DID THEIR PART CORRECTLY AND ON TIME.  The shipping companies like to answer mishandle/damage claims on perishables by stating "THEY DON'T INSURE PERISHABLE ITEMS" , even though they take your money for insurance and mention nothing about not covering perishable items on their shipping forms,  I know, I have been through this with two different companies, two different times and gotten the same answer to both claims, even though they lost the packages!

All of the reputable breeders/dealers have a live arrival guarantee. Live arrival means that the snake has to reach the buyer hands alive. I have seen very few if at all that will post in their terms they are not responsible for the carrier mishapps. Again the transaction is not complete until the buyer receives the merchandise.

Airlines will insure perishable (live) shipments. Northwest for example charges $3.5 per each $100 declared value.

Any package you send UPS is authomatically insured (against loss) for $100. You can buy additional insurance from them at $0.45 for each additional $100.
