    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Does anyone know anything this "Reptile Network" thing? I've been referred to these sites by three different people in my recent searches for Aesculapian Snakes, and upon exploring all the pages, I personally think this is a little fishy.

First of all, they have all these different webpages for various, random herp species, all advertising a specialized downloadable care guide for that species for "only" $14.99. If that's all there was to it, I'd think "No big deal," but its gets weirder. There's a lot for venomous species for one thing. And then try buying one. In Paypal, the prices jumps up to $69.95 for no apparent reason.

Then, they don't list this link on their header, but for some species, there's a "snakes for sale" page (usually its the homepage URL with a "/snakesforsale.html" at the end). Here they often claim the animal is captive-bred, and that while you can request a preference over the gender, they cannot 100% guarantee the sex of the snakes. There are no photos of the available animals, and there is no information regarding where the animal came from, who bred it, etc....just a claim saying you get the care guide free (with a new value of $49.95..WTF?) with a purchase of the animal.

Here's an example, using the Aesculapian Snake: http://www.aesculapiansnake.com/snakesforsale.html

...and a screen capture just for easier viewing:

And then on the Reptile Network page, there's all this stuff about encouraging people to share links, and essentially help spread the word, in order to get "credited" for every sale they refer to, etc.

Anyone have any information on this outfit? Personally, it all seems a little hokey to me. If it is indeed legit, they need to at least put more information regarding their available stock. If it's not legit and this is all some lame attempt to scam people, then maybe they need a little exposure.

Its affiliate/info product marketing.

Apparently. Its fine if they're selling blue-ray players or magazine subscriptions. Kinda sketchy when it comes to husbandry info on live animals. It's not like you can pick it up like a book and flip through the pages before deciding on a purchase. And especially when it regards various hots. I mean, they have one on red-bellied blacksnakes and eastern brown snakes from Australia, for crying out loud.

I'm almost willing to bet $15 that the vast majority of info in those 'exclusive" care guides is rehashed in every single one.

I'm calling it how I see it, and I'm calling the whole thing a rip-off. I hope no one has actually spent their hard-earned money on any of it. And I certainly don't suggest anyone purchase a live animal.
