Neil, there is only one way you might try to get your "good name back". Find the report, pay for it and make it public. That's the only way you can come clean, at least in my mind.

Here's my relationship with James Thornton....I've never met the man....when he first started working with, helping out, seeing to, trying to help (whatever words you want to use)..the OLD HerpWantAds (that's the NEW FaunaClassifieds)....I didn't know him from a hole in the wall!
When this donation thing came into being, after the Dec. burglary, I'd call James from time to time (he gave me his 2 phone numbers... 1-469-363-2976 [cell] and, 1-972-722-0391), and I'd email him from time to time , [email protected] ask him to help me put a banner on Fauna or to pay him for an ad or something....we had a couple of chats, but nothing serious.....I was one of the first ones (I think?) to ask Rich if he had HEARD from James in a while??? That's when this snowball started....I called a lot of people trying to find James' whereabouts, to VERY GOOD AVAIL....I found one of my Herp Associates, from Texas, who actually knew James and had snakes at his house on a breeder loan!! As a matter of fact....the guys name is xxxx (he lives somewhere close to James) ....I had called and spoke to his wife AND to him, asking both of them to have James get in touch with us....I never heard back from him on that subject....you know me?? I CALLED AGAIN!! I basically begged him to go to James' house and find out what's going on because the BOI was SCREAMING for his blood!! James was nowhere to be found...I never heard from Wyatt and I NEVER spoke to James again!! I even told Rich Z. about the guy who knew James?...

Whomever it was that called my father, CLAIMING to be James....I DON'T THINK IT WAS JAMES!! I don't know who for sure, but I would put money on someone other than James Thornton...probably the same person who called Ben!

I have no idea if there is or isn't a PI report (I'm not privvy to that information)...there were a couple of people who hinted to me that the "report" wasn't favorable to me! The day I heard it the strongest, was when I spoke to my father right before he left on vacation...HE told me that!!...Tom is the only one who knows if a report was made or not...

You are right, and I'm not being sarcastic here. There is no way I can ask Neil to incriminate hymself just to prove his innocence, at least in this forum. What we are asking from him is something like "Hey buddy, prove us your character by doing some time". Personally, I am not ready to do that.

What I feel I can ask from Neil is a statement like: "I made a mistake and I regret it". Some might even forgive that (Consider me a sucker if you will, but I probably would). Instead we get the "hahahaha" and the "anymore questions?" approach. That is not helping just one bit.

At least start doing the right things. Paying Rich Z. for the $700 will not produce the report (so there is no risk involved)but is the right thing to do. He could start trying to get his name back by doing that.

Just for the record, I would not accept payment from Neil to reimburse me for what I paid Tom Crowley.  That was my burden, foisted on my shoulders by James Thornton.  I needed to do everything I could to set the balance back in order after James dumped the server and left everyone holding the bag.

And just a passing, depressing, thought before I retire for the night:

In many email responses I have gotten from people, I have had them say to me "Thanks for being honest with me."  Is truthfullness a commodity that is now so rare that people have to make comment, and thank you for it, when they receive it?

I am truly ashamed at what this world has come to.

After reading Eliezer's post about the Chondro he sold to Neil Gubitz, then sold to Alex - I went back tonight through all my recent correspondance with Tim Morris on the matter and wondered that I may have misread Tim's comments on the pic of the sire and dam that I sent him... which apparently Eliezer provided to Neil along with a pedigree.  

In his original correspondance to me Tim said he did not recognize the female in the pic (was a jpg with two pics, one of the male alone, the other of two snakes together), and he speculated that Eliezer was probably just trying to demonstrate what the yearling might end up looking like by showing a blueish female.  I took this to mean he recognized the male but not the female.  

Tonight I re-contacted Tim for further clarification and I re-sent the pics of the supposed Sire and Dam of Alex's new yearling snake.  It turns out Tim did not recognize the female originally because he did not see the second pic in the jpg attachment (he was at work first time around and was in a rush...said he would look at it again when he got home and get back to me but never did).  

A few minutes ago I heard back from Tim and now having seen both pics including the one with the female - he confirmed she is in fact one of his breeders (which I produced but haven't seen in years).  This verifies everything Eliezer stated about the animals, and I was wrong stating Tim did not recognize the Dam he just did not see it), and therefore to question that Eliezer (or perhaps someone else for all I knew) was pulling a fast one just to make the sale.  For this I offer Eliezer a public apology.

Contrary to Eliezer's expressed opinion that I am out to discredit his name...I am not - never have been.  I just do not care to do business with him for reasons of which he is fully aware...and I find no purpose in dragging all that up in detail now.  Reality is I did not have to post this correction / apology and could easily have left both my "findings" post and Eliezer's response post on Neil's thread.  I am posting this apology to Eliezer here, and I will do it too as a separate thread, because I was incorrect...TW<<

I know that Crowley reads this so I would like to ask him if you ever told Neil and or Thornton any of this.

I have been reading the old B.O.I. Doing searches on Neil and Thornton and there is a wealth of info there about how Neil gets confused,forgets and "mis-quotes" (God knows I do not want to say lies) people and things he heard. Go check it out.If I do it some people will say that I am picking on the "Icon".

If everyone has lawyers let them deal with it and stop all the pain lol. I have known Dave and Neil for a while.
I'm not taking either side on this me and Dave are good friends and I get my food from Neil's. Hopefully everyone will leave this alone and let the cop's and lawyers figure it out.
 
I have a question.

If we, and I mean everyone here, donated money for this Private Detective to find out who did the breakion at Neil's place, the WE are the clinet and WE want to see the report!This was my understandiong of where the money went that was donated on fauna.THis is my understanding of what the donated money was used for.

I did not donate this time but in a round about way did the last time.

It is also my understanding that the Priv. Det. will not release the report due to client confident.. Well, if the money collected here was used for the investigation, then everyone who donated IS THE CLIENT.

If I am wrong in my understanding of this, then I am wrong. I am sure Webslave will let me know.

If I am not wrong, then we all missed it and must now demand the report.

You are absolutely right. But you know what, I believe nothing will happen? At this point it seems as if the police is out of the picture. From an outside viewer perspective, it seems that as "business associates" they both know each other's practices exceedingly well. They are probably pondering the benefits, with the damages of a sue/countersue action, and the outcome doesn't look to good.

How can things go so sour between two good friends its beyond my understanding. Just to give you an idea of what I mean here's another quote:
