    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

The Truth Obout The BOI!!!!

Chris.... I think you touched on a point that could use some explanation....
In reality, very few of us have met all the rest of us in person, we only know each other from this board.... for those of us who have been here for awhile, you get to see all the good guy posts about them (and the bad), the things they say, and the way they say them.... basically, we all know each other's business practices, through the information donated to this board.... If someone "new" wants to post.... they are MORE THAN WELCOME, as anybody would be.... but, when you say that we should only post what we know first-hand.... that's difficult in any situation.... we only jump in if we see that one of the people we "KNOW OF" that does generally GOOD business, is being dumped on without anything more than hearsay.... we then chime in with what we know about those folks.... it just seems like everyone is jumping on the "new guy", and that's just not so.... a lot of us here are of one mind when it comes to the treatment of customers AND dealers.... if we see something that we feel is unfairly said.... well, what can I say....

It's this part that I don't agree with.  While often people like Ritchie Luna and Webslave and Neil and whoever else will agree and jump on someone, they usually have a good reason.  Also, I have seen all of these people at complete odds with each other.  I have seen threads that started out one way, then went the other way, and in the end, the general concensus was that both parties were at fault.  I am not part of any group.  No one here even knows who I am, let alone ever bought anything from me, or even seen my animals.  I am a nobody, but I have never had any kind of problem posting here, be it my opinion, or actual experiences.  I think that the only way people will feel this board is a threat is if they employ what they feel to be inferior or substandard practices or ethics, and thus do not want to risk the possibility of being put in the spotlight.  If a person is not willing to maintain the highest of business ethics and remain professional, then this board will not be nice to you.  

For the sake of arguement, let's say that you, or I, or Keven Dunne sent someone a dragon.  That dragon dies within the alotted amount of time for returns (assuming we do that).  For whatever reason (out of town for a funeral, in traction, personal problems) we are not around to receive notice, whatever.  In any event, a problem arises, the person posts here on the BOI.  

Both of these scenarios assume that the buyer can produce proof of wrongdoing.

Scenario A:  I/you/Kevin Dunne/ whoever comes on here and talks about how it's not their fault/ the complainant is a rip off artis/ this board is useless/ any other excuse that has been used.

In this scenario, the lack of business ettiquete and unfairness will earn me/you/whoever a verbal flaying.

Scenario B:  I/ you/ whoever comes on and states the reason for the delay/ lack of communication/ lack of refund/exchange and take care of their business by righting whatever it is they screwed up on.

If you screw up, fine. Everyone does.  I don't think I'm not alone when I say that I have more respect for someone who can admit when they are wrong and fix their mistakes.  

To try to sum it up, if you are on the straight and narrow, and willing to correct your mistakes, you will have no problem.  If you are deflective and vulgar, you will be treated accordingly.

You are not a nobody, and your opinion carry as much weight as that of anyone else on this board. We might agree, disagree or even agree to disagree, but every opinion counts. Having said this there are some people that we have to be thankful to. Those that support with their advertisement this site deserve our recognition. It's easy for the rest of us to use this site at will, and not pay a cent. Not to mention the amount of money I'm saving on cable TV! I do not post very often, other than the one "bad thread" I had started with all my ducks lined up before doing so.  I did this without hesitation, but only after I had everything together instead of peicing it in here and there which can cause some confusion sometimes.  I, in my opinion, think my thread went pretty darn well without myself being bashed.  I told my story along with my emails to and from the person that was involved and received lots of support, opinions on my behalf and some on Mike's behalf, and some kind words from our fellow herpers in hopes that Mike would do the right thing.  Needless to say, that deal is still unfinished to this day.

In my opinion, this thread feels like it was started because of my thread, since Rob and Ivan were 2 of the 3 fellow herpers that were pointed out from the beginning.  I have never done business with Rob (only knowing of him) and have heard nothing but good things about him and his animals, with the exception of one person in particular (that being Mike) and a few bogus threads that were started about him with no proof, in my opinion, to back it up.  Rob replied to my thread several times with his opinions, whereas I have thanked him for his replies and support.  This is true with Ivan also.  I spoke with Ivan via email and phone in reference to his replies.  Ivan has done nothing wrong by replying to my thread, as those replies were his opinions and come from his knowledge due to his profession and his passion for his chameleons which has also led to breeding them and raising them aside from his true profession.  He has offered nothing but his kind words and knowledge of chameleons to me aside from taking time to reply to my thread on several occasions.  So I would like to refresh the question asked a time or two before, Why Ivan?  What has Ivan done to bunch your undies?  Especially when Ivan has rarely ever posted (maybe 1 or 2 other threads) until he came across my thread and decided to give his opinions based on what he learned due to his passion and his profession which has only been found to have truth to them.  Ivan is a very kind and down to earth person, especially for his line of profession, that has never claimed to be top notch.  Atleast, not anywhere I can see, have looked, or have heard.  I hope you can answer my questions and show what proof you may have that may have led to your accusations, assumption, or opinions to say such ugly things about Ivan.  Other than Ivan being mentioned, you started this thread with accusations about Rob and Neil, their prices and poor quality of animals for them to just be an example as you stated later on. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Uffern, points well taken.   The only reason why I posted that was because that is how alot of people feel, it may or may not be, but that is how it seems to alot of people..  I agree with what you say about business practice and such, but the bottom line is that people do feel that way about this board (somewhat) and it can be intimidating for some that do have great stuff for all of us to know.  chris allen
 
That's really a shame that some people feel that way.  I hope this thread serves to show a few people that so long as they are in the right or are willing to back up what they say in a mature and dignified manner that there is nothing to worry about when posting here.

I've been in France for just a few days, and eight pages of pretty much nothing cropped up! I do have to commend Seamus though, for his lucid, well-thought reply.

As for Kevin, aka "Gambino", you have proven nothing other than your lack of integrity.
